Awesome baby shower gift.......2007-09-27
Love this book! My kids are all grown and I still pray for them using this book! Now I'm including my grandchildren.
Learning to pray the sciptures is fantastic.......2007-01-10
This is the best book. I have recommended it to several people. I even purchased a few for Christmas presents. I've read it from cover to cover and want to go back and do it again. You can choose a topic and pray for
that specific thing in your childs life. What a help and blessings this is.
Praying the Scriptures for Your Children.......2007-01-04
Any parent who values prayer should read and use this book. It has guided me and it has blessed our children already in many ways. Truly a wonderful book and the best gift I have received in a long time.
The best guide for praying when you are a busy mom.......2006-12-04
This is a unique book. Each chapter covers a concern parent's have for their children - ranging from your child's salvation, to them finding their purpose in life, to their relationships with parents, friends, or a future spouse.
Chapters are short and to the point and end with scripture passages that are made into prayers with blanks so you can insert your child's name (or your own!!)
My partner feels the author comes across as the perfect parent -- too perfect -- but I try to focus more on the message and find this is a wonderful resource!
ENCOURAGING & POWERFUL.......2006-08-17
What a beautiful book to continually inspire in a refreshing and encouraging way for us Moms to trust God's WILL as we pray HIS POWERFUL WORD in the lives of our children!
The stories are inspiring and your faith will be built in our Almighty God, trusting in Him to not relate our failures to our childrens lives, but HIS GRACE!
Nothing is more powerful than PRAYING HIS WORD!! His Word is THE SWORD OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, it is HIS TRANSFORMING, SANCTIFYING, CREATING POWER! God's perfect will WON'T "JUST HAPPEN" we must invite Him into our lives in prayer, and we don't want life to "Just Happen" to our kids either! God is waiting to open the Heavens and sprout forth salvation and righteousness into lives and hearts...AS WE ASK!!! A beautiful blend of stories and Scriptures, I shall use this daily along with my "ALPHABET PRAYERS...the Power of Praying Scritpure into the HEARTS YOU LOVE..for Your Husband, Children & Pastors."

Customer Reviews:
Great book for teenagers.......2007-01-10
Bought this a Christmas gift for teenage granddaughter. I feel good about giving a book by this author.
Captivating and Biblically sound.......2007-01-07
Each devotion is packed full of truth. The method in which the truth is presented keeps our sons interested. Also, the truth is shared in such a way that practical application is quite obvious. I highly recommend this devotional to assist your children in growing in their personal relationship with Christ.
GOOD DEVOTIONAL FOR YOUNG KIDS.......2006-03-04
I like the devotional; however, it seems to be more geared toward younger children (7-11). My daughters are a little older and some of the devotional stories were a bit "kiddish" and it didn't touch home with them.
Good for use as a family devotional if you have older kids.......2005-10-22
I bought this book for my 15 year old son to study on his own, while at the same time buying Josh McDowells Family Devotional 2 (which was almost as disappointing as Family Devotional 1 was excellent) for our family devotional. FD2 was a huge disappointment, so we started using this book for family devotions, and have found it to be an excellent book for that purpose. The readings are easy to understand and apply and the questions are simple yet thought provoking. If you are looking for a book that can do double duty as a teen devotional and a family devotional, I recommend this book.
Thought-provoking and well-done!.......2001-05-19
I am a huge fan of Josh McDowell and purchased 20 copies of this book for teens in our youth group. Many have come back to me to tell me over & over again how much they enjoyed this book. That it was the first devotional book they followed through on, and really got something out of. I only took one star off b/c sometimes the book had a tendency to be on the "cheesy" side, with the stories. But other than that, this is a GREAT devotional for junior/senior high youth.

Book Description
Having recently emerged from the tumultuous teenage years herself, Amanda Ford saw the need for a guide to help girls learn to listen to their inner voices and think for themselves. Inspired by such popular books as Simple Abundance and The Woman's Book of Courage, her book offers support to young women as they navigate one of the most confusing and challenging times of their lives. As anyone familiar with teenagers knows, there is nothing they hate more than being told what to do or how to think by "out of touch" adults. Here's the real scoop from one who knows the score. In 365 one-page essays, Ford offers stories, information, and advice on all the important issues facing young women today: boys, dating, drinking, self-esteem, fights with friends, dealing with parents, and more. Girls will find comfort, encouragement, and insight in these pages, along with suggestions for articulating and confiding their feelings, fears, and frustrations.
Customer Reviews:
Who would have thought you could find a guide to life?.......2007-03-10
I love the day-by-day style this book is written in, and the simple, page-long answers help so much with the complicated questions a girl can have at this time in her life. I personally have made it a habit to read the day's advice on my way out the door to school, and it's really helped me to improve my outlook on life. It's also nice because it gives advice on some akward topics that a girl can be embarassed to discuss with her parents. The only downside is that some of the advice is pretty obvious, and simply common sense. Overall though, I highly recommend it to any confused teenage girl like myself. =)
Big hit with my daughter!.......2006-02-24
I bought this for my 13-year-old. Even though the reviews were very positive, I worried about how successful of a gift it would be as my daughter is a no-nonsense girl who does not like fluff or mushiness. But she loves it! She reads it faithfully every day, and it's been a great conversation starter as she tells me about the "lesson" of the day. For her, it's just the right mixture of straight-forward talk and sensitivity without being to childish.
Honest wisdom, great comfort, easy format.......2002-10-18
I am a family counselor and I recomend this book for my teenage clients and their parents. It is full of comfort. Like a big sister whose just been through all the trials of being a teenager herself, Amanda is able to offer a perspective that parents and other adults can't. The formate is helpful and user friendly. The reader can look up any topic in the contents and read one page or many on subjects ranging from boys, to peer pressure, to parents. This book encourages girls to listen to their own voice instead of following the crowd. It encourages each girl to make choices that satisfy themselves.
become that person you've always admired.......2001-01-07
This wonderful book offers 366 (yes, it accounts for leap years) daily tips for living the best life you can. Offers sound advice for handling boys, jobs, peer pressure, self confidence, having fun, parents, jealousy, manners, dreams, and any of hundreds of issues that pop up daily for the average teen. This book inspires you to act in your own best interests and make the most out of life.
This book includes a detailed index for looking up whatever topics concern you, as well as a list of other helpful books and websites. How cool is that?
Be True to Yourself : A Daily Guide for Teenage Girls.......2000-10-16
Be True to Yourself : A Daily Guide for Teenage Girls, is a treasure. It is an important and powerful book; a book that every teenage girl should read. Amanda Ford's writing style is simple, honest and very real. You know she is speaking from her heart and from her own experiences. This is a book with integrity. It is one that the reader can open to any page and find inspiration and guidance. Like Sarah Ban Breathnach's "Simple Abundance," Be True to Yourself has a daily message. The book will never become outdated and it can be read day after day. Each page is like a precious gem that shines on its own. There is no gift you can give that will help a girl more during her teenage years than Be True to Yourself. It will become her best friend and companion.

30 Days to Taming the tongue.......2007-07-12
This book is doing exactly what I hoped it would do. I gave this to my teenaged son and it is truly blessing him. I would recommend this book for anyone who is raising a teenager.
A powerful teen book.......2007-01-06
I brought this book for my son during the middle of the year, like most teens he threw it aside, because readinging for school and his bible seem enough for him. Later on he picked it up and to my surprise began to read and share a lot of the contents of the book with his friends. He has been difficult since his dad left. This book deals with real life issues for him and appears easy enough for him to continue reading. He has not finished, but he pours over the pages with him bible next to him. I am in awe of the amount of time spent back and forth from the book to his bible. I think teens kids will get more they bargain for when they read this book.
Not what I was hoping for.......2006-11-07
To be honest, I didn't read the book - I skimmed through, but enough to find that there aren't really any stories that give examples of teens who have prayed, and made a big difference because of it. The content that I saw was good and solid, but in my experience as a youth pastor, I see something with real-life stories as a lot more effective with teens.
A Must Read!.......2006-01-03
Prayer is something that really lacks in a teen's life from my experience. This book shows that it is a neccessity in life. It also shows that any problems with may deal with that God can be there to help you through it all. All you need is the connection with him through prayer. I recommend you buying this for your kid, or buying this for yourself.
I'm a teen, and this book is very helpful........2005-09-11
So far, this is the most helpful book on prayer that I've read. There's many books on prayer that are very lengthly and have lots of theology. But this book is especially meant for teens about my age (13-19). I suggest this book to any Christian teen who wants to have a good prayer life and who really wants to have an intimate relationship with Jesus. The book covers pretty much everything you, as a teen, will need to pray about. For teens that just became a Christian, don't sweat it! This book is definitely for you, as well as for the teen that has been a Christian for a long time. It reviews all the types of things one should pray about to break the strongholds of the enemy so that God can work in your life and in your school and in your family too. I would suggest this book for the mature and for the immature. The strong and the weak. And for every teenage Christian that loves God. Here's a brief overview of the chapters since there isn't yet an excerpt for amazon.com:
1 Lord, help me know you better
2 Lord, help me get free of past mistakes
3 Lord, help me forgive others
4 Lord, help me do what's right
5 Lord, help me stand strong againts bad influences
6 Lord, help me take control of my mind
7 Lord, help me understand your word
8 Lord, help me be free from peer pressure
9 Lord, help me have good relationships
10 Lord, help me praise you at all times
11 Lord, help me find your purpose in my life
12 Lord, help me make wise choices
13 Lord, help me get rid of bad emotions
14 Lord, help me resist temptation
15 Lord, help me be strong when bad things happen
16 Lord, help me be safe
17 Lord, help me speak with words that speak life
18 Lord, help me have faith for the impossible
19 Lord, help me know your will for my life
20 Lord, help me move into the future you have for me
Every teenager seriously must pray for these things. All of these things apply to you, and in this book, will help you. I can't stress enough how important prayer is for your relationship with God. I know you'll enjoy this book and God Bless!

Great Bible.......2007-07-06
I bought this for my [...] son. He is still learning to read, but seems to enjoy it, esp. if we read it to him. the interesting facts and tidbits are cool, I even learned some neat facts I never knew. I like it too b/c it is still the Bible but with extras, so he has the regular text to read.
Buy the hardcover version.......2007-03-29
We like the Bible itself but the paperback cover started curling immediately and we are very disappointed with that. My son doesn't like the Bible so much as a result.
It Rocks out loud YO! *actual quote from a 10 year old boy*.......2007-01-19
The first time my son took this Bible to his Awana group meeting, he said that his friends wanted to know where I got it because they were going to ask for one! It was a huge hit with my son and it's gotten him reading his bible regularly. The Gross factor is pretty cool and I often catch my son and husband comparing some of the gross-ities. There are so many great features in this bible, like the blurbs about the way real life was in biblical times and and it's tailor made for the way boys see the world. It really does help them to understand God's word and how even a 10 year old boy has a place in God's plan. I say if you are looking for a Bible that your 9-12 year old will actually use, GET THIS BIBLE! To quote my son "It rocks out loud YO!"
How the Boys Bible have helped the "Mighty Boys".......2007-01-12
The Boys Bible is a great Bible for boys.
We have group in our church called the "Mighty Boys" and they
range in age from 5yrs to 10yrs. old and they love reading
the Boys Bible, it is a easy read and has great side notes to
help the boys understand.
I recommend the Boys Bible for all young boys to read.
Outstanding Bible.......2007-01-09
My son (8 Yrs.) loves his Bible. It has "cool" gross facts and neat stuff that boys really enjoy. He takes it with him all the time. This is something that is new to him. He loves to look through and find the cool side notes. That encourages him to read further. He even challenges adults on the neat facts. I would recommend it to anyone buying for a school age boy. It really encourages them to get into the Bible.

Great Book.......2006-11-24
I really enjoy this book because it really influences every part of a girl's life. You see, if you are ready for a book that challenges you in godly character in every part of your life, this is for you! I prefer books that cover a lot of ground!--and this is one of them. It is definitely an "All in One" book. I also appreciate how George wrote in many of the scriptures so you don't have to search around for a bible--makes it much more versatile--and you can feel like you can pick it up and start reading at any time. Very good. Blessings!
This will Change your Life.......2006-02-26
This book is amazing. I learned so much more about God's word and praying even after being a christian for eleven years.
When i frist got this book in my girls youth group I didn't think i was going to like it but I was wrong. Once i started reading it I liked it more and more as the further i got into it.
Althrough it takes a while to get through a chapeter you could spilt it up through the day.
This book got me to want to have a closer realationship with God and it got me to want to spend time with God every day (not just beacuse it's the right thing to do)This book made me want to look for other teen devotion books.

"Cool Mom's" review.......2005-12-09
I am reading through Woman After God's Own Heart, which I so wanted to share with my son's girlfriend, very new and unsure of her faith, with absolutely no spiritual support from her parents. But "Woman" is very mature and deals with women more my age. I saw "Young Woman" here when I ordered another copy of "Woman" for a close friend. I'm excited about the book... I know some of these teens reviews are mixed, and one actually very harsh. I will say this to the young ladies out there... it IS possible to live purely and holy before God as a teen. I did it with peer pressure and all... I saved myself for marriage and have had a wonderful life. It was not and still is not always easy - even adults have peer pressure. My husband and I talk to our kids about EVERYTHING and don't "flowerize" anything. It is hard out there - but God requires integrity from us. Remember, Elizabeth George was a teen at one time and she raised teen daughters... the way she speaks is out of a heart of love for you and for the Kingdom of God. Philippians 4:8 says Whatever things are pure, true, just, lovely and of good report with VIRTUE and PRAISE - think on THOSE things. When I read the book with my daughter I'll come back to give my final opinion. Blessings!
Too rosy for me.......2005-12-07
The purpose of the book and the message is nice, but George's advice of how teenage girls should behave gave me the impression she expects them to be sweet, spotless little angels. Sorry, but we all know that's not possible, no matter how much some parents wish it is. George seems to have forgotten this fact, even though she herself had tough teen years and an obnoxious stage (hey, we all did!). I've been a Christian all my life and was never an out of control teenager, but when my own dear mother gave me this book, I could tell after just a few pages that it was not going to work for me. In fact, George's tone was so conservative, I nearly swore off Christian guidebooks forever. Don't get me wrong; it's not a bad book altogether and the messages about God's love were very uplifting. Unfortunetly, a lot of her advice on how to be a "proper" Christian girl was unrealistic.
The most startling part of the book was when she shared the dating rules her husband placed for their own daughters: No dating whatsoever until after high school. Once out of high school, they STILL couldn't date unless the boy asked the father first (this included long distance calls if necessary, even if the "date" consisted of nothing more than going out to get a coke!) This long-distance thing seems to imply that the girls weren't living at home anymore, and yet he still ran their social lives? Call me a hoodlum, but that's controlling, not protecting; we're talking about girls who were legally adults here. I half expected George to say that her husband also picked out his daughters' spouses for them. She almost gave the impression that her husband didn't trust their daughter's judgement.
Please don't get the wrong impression; I believe strongly that teens should be taught about Christ, I just don't think George did the best job of it in this case. She's not a bad writer, but she doesn't appear to realize that most people wouldn't appreciate reading a whole book written with a gently patronizing tone that seems more fit for small children than young adults. Try to keep in mind that being Christian alone doesn't qualify someone as a good adviser and just because some of you moms like George doesn't mean your daughters will. No matter how sweet George may be, she doesn't appear to understand modern teenagers enough and teens should not be advised by someone who doesn't understand them. For a more realistic view of teen life, I recommend "Teen Ink", any of the wonderful "Chicken Soup" books, "Queen Bees and Wannabes" (if you're a parent trying to help your daughter with teen issues), or the awesome "Chocolate for the Teen's Dreams". Blessings on your journey with Christ!

This collection of quotes from Pope John Paul II is a testimonial to his love and respect for the children of the world. Each page offers a stirring, inspirational message that speaks to important Catholic themes in childhood, such as "Family," "School," "Prayer," "Suffering," "Peace," and "My First Communion." Alongside each quote there is an exquisite color photograph of a child or group of children that embodies the theme.
Under the opening heading "Greeting," Pope John Paul offered these words in an address to a crowd of 10,000 children at Vatican City: "The Pope wishes well to everyone, but he has a preference for the youngest, because they had a special place in the heart of Christ, who wished to remain with the children and to talk with the young. He addressed his call to the young especially, and John, the youngest apostle, was his favorite." What child would not feel honored and captivated by such a respectful invitation? This is an excellent gift book for Catholic children, who will certainly beam with pride, prayer, and purpose upon reading this loving tribute. --Gail Hudson

Short, Sweet, but Profound.......2005-05-02
Beautifully written for ease of reading (easier words, short sentences, concise points). Gorgeous messages of God's love for all children and simple ways in which children can live good lives. Pictures are full pages, very colorful, and evoke children of all cultures and races. A great bedtime book, and an absolute keepsake - worth every penny.
A Message of Hope and Peace for Our Youth.......2001-10-18
This book is one of hope and inspiration for all children of the world. It consists of passages taken directly from speeches given by Pope John Paul the II to children and youth groups around the world. The book is geared toward elementary school children of the Catholic faith, but the words will speak to any heart. Each page has a heading, such as "Peace," "Love," "Family," "Faith," and an excerpt from one of the Pope's speeches. There is also an accompanying photo of young children (often depicted with the Pope himself or in the midst of typical religious activities). This is a book that is meant to be read aloud to your child and shared together, as you talk about the meaning of the words within. I find "For the Children" to be especially apt today, in light of the unfortunate tragedies that have befallen our nation and world. One of my favorite passages states: "I say to you, with all the love I have for you,...do not listen to voices which speak the language of hatred, revenge, retaliation....Love life, respect life in yourself and others...do not think that courage and strength are proved by killing and destruction...true courage lies in working for peace." The book also talks about the unconditional love that God has for everyone, about hope for the future, and about praying for peace and harmony in our world. Pope John Paul II is a very wise man, one of the biggest peacemakers of our time. I have a lot of respect for him as a person.I would encourage any parent to buy this book to share with their family and share the message of love and peace found therein.
Words of wisdom for our younger ones.......2001-01-07
This book has excerts of Pope John Paul II's speeches which have been directed to Catholic children. These words of our Pope, however, have significance even to those over the age of 10. I highly recommend this book for First Communicants and for all other Catholic children, because had I had this book when I was younger, I would probably not have fallen into as many traps as I did.
A Wonderful Book!.......2000-05-09
As a second grade religion teacher, this book is one of the most inspiring gifts you can give to your child! It is an ideal gift for a First Comminion, or to children preparing for First Communion next year. It's also a great gift for anyone working with chilren preparing for the sacraments. While first and second graders will need some help with the bigger words, this is a book to be read and shared with your child. The Pope's words speak volumes for both children and adults. I also purchased a copy for the pastor at my church, who used portions of the book in his homily at my parish's First Communion Mass. My favorite section is the Pope's recollection of his own Holy Communion day.
Beatiful, inspiring.......2000-05-04
This is a beautiful book. It contains photographs of children from all over the world with the Pope along with the text from his writings and speeches about children, including his letters to children. Very thoughtfully put together, easy to read. It makes a wonderful gift for children as well as adults who work or live with children - a wonderful reminder of what a precious gift children are in our lives!

Timeless biblical stories are lovingly brought to a child's level in this read-aloud treasury. Editor William Bennett (The Children's Book of Virtues) starts with "Daniel in the Lion's Den," a story that epitomizes the courage it takes to stand firm in one's faith. While he also includes the story of "The Little Lost Lamb" (based on Luke 15: 3-7), Bennett is broad-minded enough to include numerous other stories that touch upon the meaning of faith without being biblical in origin. For instance, young readers will be exposed to great writers such as Leo Tolstoy in the short story "Where Love Is, God Is" and Oscar Wilde in "The Selfish Giant." Although the old-fashioned style of illustrations will no doubt feel nostalgic for some, they are also a throwback to a time when white folks were the only people represented in children's Christian literature. Even Moses has light skin. One of the few characters to actually have color in his face is the bald, brown-skinned devil. A shameful lapse in an otherwise noble attempt.
Book Description

passages, and more--collected in a beautifully illustrated hardcover edition destined to become a classic. A must-have for every family!

The Children's Book of Faith.......2005-11-30
This is a wonderful anthology for all Christians. It keeps to the basics that we all agree on and includes prayers, poems, Bible stories, stories of Catholic and of Protestant heroes of the Christian faith and stories which encourage the development of morals. There are delightfully drawn pictures on every page. While preschoolers and kindergartners will enjoy some of these stories, others may take until children are in 6th grade before they understand the world enough to fully get all that can be gotten of stories they may enjoy with a simpler understanding at an earlier age. As you can tell from other reader reviews, even adults will find it an enjoyable and challenging book. I think that if you get it early enough, that it will be a book that children will grow into and love throughout the years.
According to the book jacket, the editor, "William Bennett served as secretary of education and chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities under President Reagan and as director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy under President Bush. ... and co-chairs the Partnership for a Drug-Free America." I think that indicates his motivation for writing this book and deciding what he would include in it. As he states in his introduction, "In a world that often seems full of woe, faith produces an astounding amount of good. It is the rock on which so many virtues are founded: honesty, courage, generosity, hard work, responsibility, and self-control. It is a call to kindness, decency, forgiveness, and love. Faith keeps us from drifting by anchoring sour sense of right and wrong. It lifts each person outside himself and offers a larger sense of purpose as we journey through life.... In these pages, we find examples of people who draw strength from above, trusting in God to help them in the large and small tasks of life. We witness them living in readiness to answer God's call and standing steadfast in their devotion to him. By reading and talking about faith, parents help children learn that God loves them, that he cares about what they do, that he has created them for goodness. ... I hope ... this book aids parents in that task and speaks to children as creatures of God who are beginning a spiritual journey."

Excellent for both children and parent.......2001-12-08
I found this book just incredible. The stories are just wonderful for teaching the children valuable lessons and virtues. It's hard to explain the book, other than that my kids enjoyed hearing them, I enjoyed reading them, and the lessons in the stories challenge both child and parent alike.
Could have been broader.......2001-08-19
Nicely done. It is difficullt to find good books that teach the virtues of faith without being heavy handed. I would have liked a few more faith stories from non-Christian traditions. My seven year old is enjoying it.
FAITHFUL!.......2000-10-24
This beautiful, gently written and illustrated book will certainly appeal to all ages. It is a delightful presentation of Christianity and, I think, provides a gentle overview of Christian concepts. Young readers will especially appreciate the illustrations. This book is an excellent teaching tool and a good way to form conversations regarding to Christian faiths. It is a treasure and a wonderful part of any family. I really love this book.
Inspirational; not just for children.......2000-10-18
Where is the greatest source of wisdom in today's society? Despite the common cries of cultural despair, William Bennett has rightly identified the Bible as the source of the moral tenets which we aim to inspire in our children. Although the stories are written in simple, accessible language, children and adults of all ages will be moved and inspired by the simple truths contained herein.

A pretty good buy for Catholics.......2007-04-09
I thought my hubby would enjoy this as he explains the Catholic faith to our boys. Simple, easy to read.
wonderful book for my grand children and their mothers.......2007-01-22
Now in my 70s I was a good traditional catholic with an Aunt,a Nun and an Uncle a priest. My 2 daughters and their families are somewhat Catholic. This book is great for adults to share with their children and has new ideas. On Christmas day, I was able to share this book and everyone liked it.
A Great Prayer Book!.......2007-01-19
This is a wonderful way to introduce your child to prayer. The structure of the prayer book is great. The prayers will introduce your child to prayers of faith, the saints, praise of God, and how to just talk to God! I love this prayer book.
Great Prayer Book!!!.......2006-03-21
I bought this for my four year old and she loves it. The prayers are really easy for her to understand and learn. It is a book that will be very helpful as she prepares for first communion and confirmation in the years to come. Not only does it have prayers but there are psalms, the 10 commandments, and the beatitudes. Great reference for any child who is learning about the Catholic faith. I am purchasing two more to give to my god children at Easter.
Wonderful First Communion Gift.......2004-05-13
This is an attractive, full-color, child-friendly prayer book at a very reasonable price. At under $4 (for the softcover) it would make an excellent choice for parishes and schools to purchase for First Communicants. A substantial collection of traditional and "home-made" prayers are presented in a comfortable format. The book also includes prayers and mysteries of the Rosary, prayers from the Mass and a section on "Stuff Every Catholic Kid Should Know: Learning Our Faith Tradition". Highly Recommended!

NIRV Kid's Devotional Bible Revised.......2006-11-24
It helps you to understand the bible a little better, even if you are not a kid!!!
Excellent!.......2006-04-26
This is an excellent bible for all ages. It is easy enough for a 2nd grader and also great for anyone who wants an understanding of the Word of God. I am a primary Sunday School teacher with two young children. The children and I absolutely love it!
Nice beginners devotional bible.......2006-02-26
I bought this bible, so that I could read it to my 5 year old. I wanted a real bible, not a storybook bible, in language he could understand. He is in awanas, so he is learning lots of verses and I sometimes have problems explaining the context of the verses. So far, it is exactly what I expected. The language is easy to understand. My son is not old enough to use it as a devoltional bible, but it looks like it would be great.
Perfect for ESL teens.......2006-02-23
We recently adopted our 13 year old daughter from Russia and she is still learning to read and speak English. I did not want to get a kids' Bible story book because she is at an age where she needs to learn the teachings of Jesus. She had no religious background in Russia at all and everything is new to her. She really enjoys the devotionals and likes being able to check them off as we read them together. The topics are easy to relate to.
There are very few books that are interesting enough for a 13 year old and yet designed for a beginning reader. It took me a long time to find something that she would enjoy.
Great kids bible.......2005-09-04
Although I don't own this bible myself, my close friend has it and used to always carry it to Sunday School when we were six, seven, and eight. It got pretty worn out and I remember we shared it often as I didn't have one. It's great for primary elementary school readers, as the font is bigger than most bibles, and the scripture itself is in a language very easy to understand. Later, even though we all got NIV bibles, I realized NIrV is the perfect kickoff for bible reading. This bible is also perfect for adults who have trouble understanding. I really recommend this bible!
