Customer Reviews:
A bedtime favorite..........2007-10-17
My sister had the old edition when we were little, and had my mom read it to us before bed about 3 nights a week. She's having a baby in a month, and I immediately thought of this book to give to her to read to her own son each night. I can't tell you how happy I was to be able to find a new copy of this book!
The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Stawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear.......2007-10-11
This has been a favorite in our family. My three children loved it and quickly learned to read this. Making them feel so proud to sit and read it by themselves. I taught school and made sure that the children had this as one of thier stories. All of the children loved reading it. I now have bought a book for each of my grandchildren. My daughter was so excited that it was sticking out of her daughter's 1st. Birthday gift bag. It is a must have in our family and I am sure would be in yours.
Great book for young kids.......2007-09-22
No household with young children should be without this book. Great read and fun for all. We conisder it a classic.
A DELIGHTFUL BOOK WITH FEW WORDS........2007-09-20
As has been pointed out, there are few words to the text of this work, but to be honest, it really does not need them. the art work, the pictures, are absolutely some of the best I have seen, and pretty well tell the story visually. The text just acts as a sort of prompter. A small mouse has a very big strawberry and is quite fearful that a very big and hungry bear will eat this wonderful, perfect berry. He goes through all sorts of manipulations to hide the berry from the bear. The story is delightful, the color eye catching and it is a blast to read it with a young child. This is a very talented artist and author who have turned out quite a number of books. Personally, this is one of my favorite, but then I like mice, bears and certainly strawberries. I also love reading books to children and they all love it. This is one you will want to purchase for your children. Highly recommend.
The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry,And The Big Hungery Bear.......2007-08-23
We loved the story and the illustrations. We had it for years and read it to our grandchildren, who enjoyed it very much.
Perfect for ages two to six.
We ordered it for my sisters grandchildren{our grandneice and grandnephew} We want them to experience the story also.
Book Description
Little Bear learns that it's fun to venture off by yourself, but even better to know that you can go home again in this heart-tugging ode to the endearing, enduring bond between Big Bear and Little Bear.
One day Little Bear discovers a new cave that's the perfect size, just for him. He plays in it all day, eats supper there, and, with Big Bear's permission, even gets ready to spend the night. But when the big moon shines overhead and Little Bear is lying there all by himself, he suddenly realizes that Big Bear might be getting lonely back in the old Bear Cave. Perhaps it's time to go home. Big Bear and Little Bear, stars of CAN'T YOU SLEEP, LITTLE BEAR? and other beloved picture books by Hans Christian Andersen Medal winner Martin Waddell, are back in another classic story, lovingly illustrated with deft humor by Barbara Firth.
Customer Reviews:
Gentle and heartwarming.......2007-02-24
The story is really gentle and charming with a nice message that is relatable with young children who are starting to want to be more independent. Our 22 month old daughter can relate to all the things the little bear is doing. And the caring relationship with the parent is nicely portrayed. It is illustrated with soft watercolors. The graceful compositions and lighting make the book interesting to look at.
Sleep Tight, Little Bear.......2006-03-12
Author Martin Waddell and illustrator Barbara Firth have gotten it right again with this, their 7th, Little Bear book. In each book they capture a universal aspect of the parent-child relationship and this one is no exception. It is a timeless and touching tale of love and trust. The illustrations extend the text and add great details for the child to look at while being read to. The DVD interview with Martin Waddell which is included also increased my appreciation for these wonderful tales.

Book Description
The timeless classic -- the perfect gift for everyone's favorite child.
The Little Fur Family tells of a little fur child's day in the woods. The day ends when his big fur parents tuck him in bed "all soft and warm," and sing him to sleep with a lovely bedtime song.
Customer Reviews:
The Little Fur Family.......2007-08-23
This is the sweetest little childrens book I have ever seen. I have bought several of them for my grandchildren and friend's grandhildren. And although I'm 81 I'm not ashamed to say that when I'm feeling sort of low I read it myself, too, and it just makes me feel better all over.
A Childhood Favorite.......2007-05-09
This is a biased review because I absolutely loved this book as a child. I purchased the Little Fur Family Deluxe Edition to give to my child because I love the story and I love the illustrations. This is an endearing little tale and the illustrations are sure to appeal to any child.
not what I was expecting.......2007-04-19
I thought I was buying the really tiny one (which I love) but this is a larger furry version. It is nice. I am going to give it as a gift. But the little one is more special and I wish they had the size in the description. I ended up getting the correct size where I could see it... But this is wonderful story for little kids. They really like the furry cover (but so did my dog, so make sure you keep it out of reach if you have a dog that likes to chew) and the story is very calming. A good bedtime story.
Perfect Furry Little Story.......2007-03-23
I read this story to my niece and nephew and now I read it to my daughter. It's a sweet little story about a little fur family (duh!) but what makes this edition so special is the faux fur cover! It's soft and fuzzy and pocket sized ... making it a perfectly little cozy story to read at bedtime! Like all of Margaret Wise Brown's books, it's a quiet tale, full of love.
Warm as toast, smaller than most...........2007-01-10
This is a little known gem from Margaret Wise Brown, of 'Goodnight Moon' fame. It is a small furry book that tells the story of a day in the life of a little fur child who lives in the wild wood with his mother and father and not too far from his grandpa. The little fur child explores his surroundings and the other animals that live in the wild wood, and then, as the darkness gets a little too dark, he heads for home to the warmth and safety of his parents. I love the melodic quality of the prose, and I often give it as a gift to new parents. The furry cover, the story and the wonderful lyric quality make it a perfect snuggle time reading choice!

Sweet.......2006-03-14
Little Bear couldn't be any more sweet. I love that my 2-year-old son enjoys Little Bear and isn't into something more popular for our times. Little Bear fosters his imagination and love of life.

Fun Way To Teach Emotions.......2003-04-11
My daughter really likes this book that her grandma got her. She always likes seeing Teddy Bears in books for one thing. Plus she loves puzzles. She knew right away what to do with the faces. But I'm still working with her to understand what goes where and why. The story is simple but fitting for the purpose. Very cute, vivid pictures.
There are a few MINOR problems I have with it.
1 - It would be nice if there were more faces (enough to fill the pages)
2 - I agree that the flaps are flimsy esp. in a toddler's hands
3 - The "angry face" wasn't cut right and didn't fit into the spaces (frustrating for a little one). I had to shave away an edge with a knife so it would work.
4 - Faces can get lost very easily if you're not careful. Good idea to put this book away whenever they are done with it, which also helps with the durability issue.
This book taught my daughter to say HAPPY!.......2003-01-16
This is a great book! To me it ranks up there with Goodnight Moon. The removable Teddy Bear faces make this an interactive book that's fun. My daughter looks for this book first at Grandma's house and I want to get one for here at home. She now says "happy" thanks to this book! A must-have.
What a great, interactive book!.......1999-09-30
My one year old loves books, but this one is her absolute favorite! This book not only teaches her about different emotions and expressions, but also develops her fine motor skills. She loves to take the bear faces out of the flaps and place them on the different bear bodies in the book. The only complaint I have, is I wish the flaps were stronger, because two of them ripped quite quickly. Overall, a great interactive book, that I know she will enjoy even more when she gets older.

Customer Reviews:
lovely story.......2007-10-14
My kids and I love the little bear stories. I had "Little Bear" as a child myself. I just recently learned about this book. We just love it. It is shorter then the others and the art is just a bit different, but still as charming as always.
In the story little bear draws a picture and has hen take it to grandmother bear, who send hen with a kiss for little bear. The kiss get passed along from friend to friend until hen gets it again and gives it to little bear. Very sweet.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE LITTLE BEAR BOOKS.......2006-12-13
I felt the art work in this one was probably some of the best in the series and I did love the story. The story is simple, Little Bear sends a picture to his grandmother and it is taken to her by Hen. Grandmother, upon reciept of the picture wants to pass along a kiss to Little Bear. The kiss is passed from animal to animal until Little Bear receives his gandmothers kiss via the Hen. The story is cute, the illustrations are great and the kids love it. What more could you want. JUST A NOTE: I almost never refer to the review by another reviewer. In this case I will make an exception. There are Kisses and there are Kisses. I kiss my grandchildern all the time. I kiss cats and dogs and have even kissed a frog in my time. I can assure you there is nothing inappropriate in these kisses. It is an action as old as the human race. As to the skunks kissing, just what is so bad about that. You have a girl skunk that kisses a boy skunk, they enjoy it, they enjoy each other and then they get married. And this is bad? I can remember years ago first kissing my wife. We were all of fifteen years old at the time. We kissed for several more years, got married, had wonderful children and now have wonderful grandchildren and hope soon to have wonderful
great-grandchildren. This is bad? I frankly thought this was a good, healthy thing to add to this story and am glad the author did. Even at the age the book is targeted for, the wee ones should know about kisses. Recommend this one highly.
Everyone loves little bear!.......2005-04-14
This book is beautifully written and little bear illustrations are classic! The book is small, so it works best when reading to just one or two children. A great book for preschool age children.
Strange story.......2004-08-31
I love all the other Little Bear books in her series but this one was strange. I'm sure that 30 years ago it wouldn't have seemed odd to tell your child a story about kisses being passed from one person to another but in today's age it just left a strange feeling with me esp at the part where the skunks kept kissing eachother back & forth. At least they get married at the end of the story. I took it back to the libray. Glad I didn't buy it. I own all the others she wrote however and love them.
A wonderful book for bedtime.......2003-04-26
My son, 2 1/2, loves Little Bear from the cartoons on Noggin and was thrilled that we found these books to read to him. He often selects this book (or one of the other Minarik books) from his bookcase at bedtime for my wife or I to read to him. The stories are brief but entertaining and the illustrations are rich and engaging. The books are a bit flimsy and I would prefer that they be available in a more durable format but that is a minor issue compared to the wonderful content of these books.
Book Description
When Little Bear's scarecrow blows down on a windy day, he thinks of a new way to protect the corn from crows -- he dresses up as Little Scarecrow Bear! ButLittle Bear soon feels lonely. Is there enoughcorn for everybody, including his new friends, the crows?
Customer Reviews:
Great book for Little Bear fans.......2006-08-22
Nice book for my Little Bear fan, but a little too short.
better board book.......2005-02-20
I gave this book 5 stars because it is not typical to get a story this sophisticated in board book format. In this series, although the stories are short and sweet, we actually get characters and a plot. In this story, Little Bear is confronted with a troubling moral dilemna, but one that all little kids who mouth the mantra "Mine! Mine! Mine!" can relate to.

Another great little golden book.......2007-08-10
I love the old little golden books, but I got a set for Christmas that are actually so annoying to read! This one is great, my daughter laughs out loud at this story.
Long Search Finally Ends.......2003-02-10
I must have read this Little Golden Book book to my daughter over 1000 times. She absolutely loved it as a child. Even though she had memorized the words she insisted on having it read to her every night and she caught me every time I tried to turn two pages at once.
For several years, she had unsuccessfully searched for this book so she could read it to her two sons aged 1 and 3. I was thrilled to see that it was recently re-published and available on Amazon[.com].
The story line involves a baby bear who hides on his father's shoulders when it is time for him to go to bed. The father bear "searches" all over the house for "little bear" who is nowhere to be found. At long last, the father bear looks in a mirror and discovers "little bear" who is perched on his shoulders. A simple story, but one which absolutely fascinated my daughter.
Book Description
Father Bear is away on a fishing trip, and Little Bear misses him terribly. Little Bear decides to stay up all night and watch the sunrise -- just like Father Bear does. But Mother Bear doesn't like this one bit because little bears need their sleep!
Book Description
What if animals could talk? These charming books each depict a day in the life of a young animal-as told by the animal itself! The simple stories will delight small children and the art is simply outstanding.
