Book Description

Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.

Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.

5 out of 5 stars Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09

There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.

For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.

It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.

4 out of 5 stars History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10

Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.

I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.

Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.

Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.

I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.

This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

I've heard many of these stories from the staff at Philmont. There are many more here that I hadn't heard until I read the book.

This is a must have for anyone headed to Philmont that has an interest in this aspect of Philmont "Life". Use it as an unofficial addendum to your Philmont Treks book to add a few of Mr. Connelly's favorite haunts to your trek.

5 out of 5 stars Go Scouts!!.......2005-02-09

I am enjoying re-reading Riders in the Sky. Coming from a family with a long Scouting history, this just adds more scouting stories to the collection. Some of my favorite memories of my dad are hearing his Scout stories and ghost stories around a camp fire. Riders in the Sky has a special place in my book collection. Thanks Michael Connelly for this interesting, and rather different, book. Not only history involved, but action, suspense and putting your imagination to work. Even though we are a Scout related family, I did not know about Philmont Scout Ranch until I read this book. See, always learning something new!! wkp

1 out of 5 stars 1 Star too genrerous.......2004-05-22

1- The quality of the physical book is abyssmal (newsprint paper that collects skin oils)
2- Obviously the author has not done his research!
3- Using Philmont interest web-serves for self-promotion is dispicable!
4- Waste of money, even for a used copy (and there should be pl;enty of used copies with owners wanting to divest themselves of such shlock).
5- Buy a book written by someone actually close to Philmont ( the Chatterly's or Stevens' volumesimm ediately come to mind).
6- For all other folklorists: do some real research, supported by the people involved; before attempting to foist a product on the market!

1 out of 5 stars not that good.......2003-10-29

Mr. Connelly's self-professed "research" was all of 3 weeks, and it shows. The stories do not reflect the wealth of stories at Philmont. Additionally, when did Penitentes give up their centuries old legacy of Hispanic heritage and become Native Americans? Too many errors and slipshod production make this book one not worth having.
There's a far better volume published in 2003 by a former staff member.

4 out of 5 stars Fun Reading.......2003-08-17

This book covers a vast array of Philmont ghost stories. I don't know whether they are true or made-up, but the book reminded me of a Urraca campfire.

2 out of 5 stars Didn't Live Up.......2007-07-03

I absolutely love "The James Bond Lifestyle Seminar," but this audiobook fell short. The plot was decent, but nothing better than you'd expect based on the synopsis. The main character is supposed to be 33 years old, yet his voice sounds like an old man. He sounds very unsure of himself. Also, a lot more could have been done with the sound effects. They did not immerse me in the scenes, as another reviewer claimed.

5 out of 5 stars I never wanted it to end!! Fabulous!.......2007-01-16

Mr Kyriazi's production of Hard Rock Lovers was just fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat on a daily basis! I put the audio book on my iPod and listened while I jogged. I gotta say it motivated me to get out there and I am so sad it is over! I cannot wait for his next Audio production!

The story is fantastic, gripping and sexy. I absolutely loved it!

Bravo!!!!

5 out of 5 stars An all-star cast of my generation! I swooned over Rod Taylor and Robert Culp!.......2006-05-22

Wow! My sister pointed me to this audio book and I couldn't believe my ears. I just relaxed on my bed to listen and was absolutely delighted with the movie-quality of the sound effects. Not only is this a masterful, well-written plot, it's also a quality production. The best I've heard.

And those stars that the magnificent author/director Paul Kyriazi lined up for this special version of his book!!! Well, all I can say is that I remember swooning each time I saw any of them on the big screen. (I hope my hubby doesn't read this.) But when I saw Rod Taylor--who narrates this story, with such a come-hither voice--starring in The Birds with that gorgeous Tippi Hedren, I almost fainted. Yes, he was that much of a hunk ... and still is, according to my sister!

Incidentally, people used to say I looked like Tippi. Ah-hhh, memories ... But getting back to this audio book, I loved it to pieces.

Keep up the excellent work, Mr. K. You're terrific, and almost as handsome as the great Rod! Ciao, baby ...

5 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL cast, beautifully performed, an EXCITING thrilling journey you won't forget!.......2006-03-15

From the moment Hard Rock Lovers comes on ... it takes you by the hand and mind, and immediately draws you into this intriquing story, narrated by the imcomparable Rod Taylor, of revenge, love, lust, cold reality and spiritual enlightenment.

Robert Culp kept me laughing with his perfect low-life agent performance, always the best! James Darren was the perfect rock star, mean, talented but sad, his performance was # 1. Ishtar Uhvana was great as Medusa, she added the sweetness to keep some reality in the rock world and her ending dialoque brought tears to my eyes. Loved Russ Tamblyn, George Chakiris was brilliant as the evil Reynaldo, and Nefta Perry as Connie played the perfect Rosie Perez.

The ending gives you hope and leaves you with happy feelings. You will want to play it again and again; it only gets better each time you listen.

Paul Kyriazi is my hero. I am his BIGGEST fan.

Thank you Paul for the fun and exciting adventure!

5 out of 5 stars "Hard Rock Lovers".....Beautifully done!!.......2006-03-14

The "Hard Rock Lovers" audio book was not at all what I expected, but what a wonderful surprise! It's a twisted, tangled web of events played out by a handful of multi-leveled, intertwined characters. The story is well written, beautifully told and convincingly enacted centering on the heights of a successful rock star and the terrible costs that are paid when that success is abused. People and events are manipulated by all the characters to satisfy their own needs and agenda.

"Good" and "evil" are blurred. "Life" and "death" are blurred. Relationships are blurred, but the irony of fate is boldly presented and it's made abundantly clear that our "next" existence offers another chance to hopefully do better. The inevitability of change, the subtle and sometimes dramatic interrelationships between cause and effect as well as the ever-present, ever-looming scales of divine and poetic justice are persistent threads. A beautiful blending of drama and melodrama are used to develop both the story and the characters. The audio presentation is top-notch entertainment, particularly when you consider that all acting is accomplished solely through vocal artistry. The actors do a fantastic job of inviting the listener into their world and moving you effortlessly through the story.

I really enjoyed listening to this audio book. It is wonderful from start to finish and my congratulations go out to all involved. It's a winner on all levels.

Book Description

It is the time of the Millennium, of great battles between good and evil. The hoofbeats of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse herald the last days of Mankind.

The four novels of the Millennium Quartet reveal the cataclysms that await mankind at the turn of the century and vividly tell of the effects of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as they wreak havoc on the world. Death spread a wide swath of violence over the Planet. Famine devastated crops, fish, and domesticated animals. Plague returned as a mutated version of smallpox and decimated the remaining human population. Still, mankind has struggled on, most people completely unaware that they have experienced the effects of the Horsemen and not merely a combination of bad weather and freak genetics. Most people, but not all.

These are the survivors, no longer completely human-and the only people who can stand against the Horsemen: a preacher given the power to stop Death. Two teenagers who can see the truth in anyone's heart. A mother and her two daughters, who saw the man they all loved sacrifice himself to save them from Plague. A waitress who has decided she can't wait any longer. A would-be writer whose young son has become Famine. The young widow of a British nobleman-the only person who knows the earthly identities of all four Horsemen-has brought them all together. Now they prepare to do battle. With War as their leader, the Horsemen are preparing to lay waste to the world. They have gathered for a final strategy session on an isolated island in the Atlantic.

But their coming is no longer secret, and they are no longer unopposed. The defenders of mankind are coming. They may well fail to defeat the Apocalypse. But if so, they will die trying.

This book was the best [money]I ever spent!! I love Stephen King also but his books are usually very confusing and I have to skip pages to keep being inetersted in it. But not with this book!! I couldn't wait to keep reading! Even though it only costed me [little money] at the [local] store I would have spent waaaay more!! As I read this book I could feel myself immersed in the middle of the apocalypse and since it was close to New Year's it kinda freaked me out (although its not the millenium anymore). I felt as if I knew each one of the characters personally and I was right there along with them. It would make and EXCELLENT movie!! Thank you Charles Grant for being such a great writer, I am going out today to find more of your books!! YOU ROCK!!

4 out of 5 stars Series ends as it began, with a whisper and a chill........2001-11-05

Riders in the Sky is the fourth and final book in the Millenium Quartet. Death, Famine, and Plague have each come riding into town and then been sent packing. Now War is on the rampage. He has also collected his cohorts to make a final stand to bring about an end to this great big mess we call the world. But the surviving adversaries from Symphony (book 1), In the Mood (book 2), and Chariot (book 3) are coming together, albeit it reluctantly, to head the horsemen off at the pass. The final battle for the fate world will be waged, as is the case in all of Grant's stories (both in the series and out), in some small, off the beaten path town. Again emphasis is placed on atmosphere and character, story always being something of a weak point in Grant's writing. Those looking for tale with an autumnal chill to it will find Riders in the Sky well worth galloping through, others looking for something more focused and gritty will have to look elsewhere.

1 out of 5 stars Late Summer: Early Afternoon.......2000-09-19

I bought this book on the strength of some other books by this author. After plowing through about 90 some pages and not being able to make heads or tails of what was going on it finally dawned on me that this was a later volume of some ongoing series. I scoured the cover to see if there was some indication of this, but found nothing. A quick visit to Amazon revealed the truth however. This pile of merde is part of a much larger pile of merde going back to Symphony. I have seen other authors attempt to employ cinamatic idioms, but none fail worse than Grant does in this book. From what I have read in this and In The Fog Charles Grant is a great editor, but his own story telling ability sorely lacks. The epitome of all style and no substance.

Go buy the revised version of The Stand and pass on this one. In fact I'll be passing on all future Charles Grant because of the dirty trick he played with this one. Gotta go now and throw the book in the trash.

3 out of 5 stars A very dissapointing conclusion to an outstanding series.......2000-07-26

I have read both: In the Mood, and Chariot, and have heard about Symphony. In the mood and Chariot were very pondering novels that got my interest and I enjoyed reading. They were both genuine page-turners. I anxiously awaited for the final book and when Riders in the sky finally came out I began reading it and felt that it was very lagging in pace and boring. Not like Grant's usual writing prose. The entire novel builds up for the armageddon at the end where Casey and his friends fight the four horsemen of the apocolypse. When near the end the battle begins, it ends as quickly as it had begun in a sum of a few pages. Grant desrcibes the coming and arriving of a storm to more detail than the battle of armageddon itself. I was left feeling that this novel was a shocking disbelief of utter bore, and that it left a hurting mark to end the series on. I expected more out of this novel. Read it and see for yourself.

4 out of 5 stars Fantastic finale.......2000-03-21

Casey Chisholm is back! This 4th in a series novel eloquently pulls together the characters and the armageddon story line started in SYMPHONY. If you haven't read any of the other novels in this series (SYMPHONY, IN THE MOOD, CHARIOT), you are missing out. However, any of the novels is a winner on its own.

Grant has an incredible way of weaving word pictures. He does not let any of these novels play out just on the end-of-the-world theme. He allows us to witness the inner struggles of each character as he grapples with his own fears and doubts in this cosmic event. The heroes are not infallible, and the bad guys are not merely evil; each character has several levels.

I devoured each novel in this series. Grant's writing is superb, and these novels are treasures.

But the night before the vet comes for Tazz, a mysterious teenager, the ghost of a young man who died a strange and violent death on her family's property, appears to Dusty and offers to take Tazz away with him. Away where? Dusty wonders, but Tazz trusts the boy. Dusty's beloved horse seems healed, willing to leap right over the sun, and so she lets him go with the stranger. It isn't long however, before the boy returns, and Dusty realizes she must help him find peace--or become entangled with his vengeful spirit for eternity.

3 out of 5 stars Rushed into Love.......2007-04-26

Dusty's life for the past couple of years has been pretty bad. First her mom died suddenly, of a brain aneurism. Her father, unable to deal with the pain, started drinking heavily. He was driving drunk with Dusty in the car when they had an accident that left Dusty's spine permanently damaged. She lives in constant pain and will never be able to ride horses, her passion, again.

When her favorite horse, Tazz, becomes so sick he will have to be put down, it is almost more than Dusty can bear. The night before the vet comes for Tazz, though, a strange boy appears at the barn and rides him away. Dusty suspects the boy may be a ghost, the spirit of Skye Ryder, a boy from her school who died on her property while riding his dirt bike.

Skye is no friendly ghost, though. He is filled with rage over his death and sworn to revenge against the person who may have caused it by stringing a cable across the path. Dusty wants to help Skye find peace, but what price will she pay to do it?

I liked that Dusty's father has some major flaws, which makes him seem more human and real, and which makes Dusty a stronger character who has to take care of herself. Skye's character is an interesting one; he is a good blend of rage and compassion. However, Dusty seemed to grow attached to him far too quickly. She said she loved him, but she never really even knew him.

4 out of 5 stars I can't stop, NO WAY!.......2006-12-11

This book was very interesting. It was like I couldn't stop reading it, or I would worry about what happened all day. The book was like if I went up a river without out paddle. I was lost in some parts, but the book pulled them back together and made a big impression. In the story a girl, Dusty, had a horse. Her horse was very sick and had to be put down. When she spent the night in the barn, she felt a presence. Her new best friend could end up as murderer, or an angel, but it depends on her father and how she will take the news. If only they could figure out a way to stay safe, and to keep away from Dusty's new best friend. Will her father survive or die in misery? The book was a galore to read and I recomend it to any person who enjoys mysteries and haunting stories!

Book Description

Since 1977, Riders In The Sky has faithfully tended a musical tradition kindled by singing cowboy legends, such as Gene Autry and the Sons Of The Pioneers. Throughout its long career, the group has branded the genre with its own mark, crafting a well-balanced mix of both classic and original western songs—smooth harmony, hot licks, and comedy. Over the past quarter of a century, and more than 4,500 shows, 290 national TV appearances, 203 public radio shows, nearly 700 Grand Ole Opry appearances, 2.3 million miles on the road, two Grammy Awards, three television series, and 31 albums down the trail, a group that began with a commitment to carry on an American musical tradition has itself become a national treasure.

It's the Cowboy Way! tells the full story of the amazing true adventures of group members Ranger Doug, Woody Paul, Too Slim, and Joey "The CowPolka King" for the first time, from their first gigs at "Herr Harry's Phranks `N' Steins," in Nashville, to their rise to the top of the Grammy heap.

5 out of 5 stars Riders in the Sky...the best in Western Music since 1977!!!.......2004-11-04

WOW! This is a great book for those who love the Singing cowboy group "Riders in the Sky". If you have never heard of them, try their music! You won't be disappointed!

This book covers nearly EVERYTHING a first time Riders fan could need to know (although there are a few areas of interest missing from this book! Guess you can't include everything in just one volume). A great book with fantastic stories, info and pictures (althought they deleted a few pics from the pre-publication copy....I have an editor's edition and they should have left in ALL the pictures in the final run of this book).

Riders in the Sky are reminescent of Roy Rogers & Gene Autry....but with a bit of "tongue-in-cheek" humor and a bit of their own twists added in. Regulars at the Opry and with a regular tour schedule sure to be hitting a state near you! Check out www.ridersinthesky.com for more info!

5 out of 5 stars Terse Vivid Language Shines Through.......2007-03-26

This book, which serves as my introduction to Jory Sherman, reads like a detective story out of the old west. I mean that in the best sense. The writing style throughout this books shines beyond nearly every Western I've ever read. I don't know why I didn't notice this auther before (since he's been writing for years), but he's amazing. Descriptive language in the book such as "The Colt bucked in his hand as it exploded with orange flame, belching out golden fireflies of burnt powder..." paint pictures like few Westerns. Though I haven't yet reached the last page of the story, I had to say what a rare work of fiction this is. I will most definitely begin reading other works by this author.
