Customer Reviews:
Dinosaurs are great!.......2007-09-28
This has fast become my son's favorite book! He asks for it all the time and is also learning good manners too!
My grandkids.......2007-08-23
I bought this book for my grandson, (2), but my grand-daughter, (4), also loves it. The book is in a series and since my grandson loves it so much I am buying more of the series. I like it because he can't rip it up and the pictures are so clear that we can use it for educational purposes and they don't even know it.
Fun book but badly translated.......2007-07-12
I bought this book so my father who is Peruvian would have a Spanish book to share with my son. Unfortunately, he says that the translation is terrible. So, being a good Papa, he just makes up the story according to the pictures. My son doesn't mind because he so loves the dinos and their mischievous behavior.
I'm disappointed because I thought I'd be able to read it to him and work on my own Spanish which I won't be doing since it's not a good translation.
I got a second opinion from a Spanish-speaking friend and she agrees that the translation is not very good.
A DINO HIT.......2007-02-15
My three yr old grandson loves this book and he is currently very
fascinated by Dinosaurs. It gets the message across about a clean
room and at the same time it is laugh out loud funny. The clever
illustrations are a winner too. You won't go wrong with this fun
book! Thanks Amazon.

Baby's Room - Ideas And Projects For Nurseries
ASIN: 1845971469 |
Book Description
Planning a baby's room involves not only providing a pretty nursery but also tailoring your living space to the new arrival's needs. "Babies' Rooms" by Judith Wilson shows how to tread a fine line between tasteful decoration and the requirements of a small child, and address issues of practicality and safety, plus planning for future development. The book begins by looking at sleeping places for babies in the parents' bedroom. Next are inspirational chapters on decoration, lighting and furniture for unisex nurseries, plus fun and funky ideas for girls' and boys' rooms, and advice on the needs of planning a shared bedroom for a baby and a toddler or for twins. There are also chapters on adapting a bathroom for little ones, creating stimulating and safe eating and play spaces, and devising brilliant storage. The book concludes with useful checklists, a question and answer section, and an extensive resources list.
Customer Reviews:
Spartan, institutional babies' rooms.......2007-06-16
If you have a modest budget, strong affinity for white paint and your tastes lean exclusively to a modern aesthetic, you might enjoy this book. There is precious little interior design, or even decoration, happening in these rooms. They are hard, cold, bleak and sterile. It is beautifully-shot, but unless you're curious about how to elegantly frame shots of artfully simple rooms, look for inspiration elsewhere. There are a great number of shots featuring adorable baby dresses on hangers, hung from wall pegs...the good design happening here is of the apparel variety, not interior. For the most part, the rooms have all the charm of an underfunded orphanage. Not the imaginative, innovative thinking I had hoped for. Save your money and time, for this book wastes both.
Great Ideas.......2006-12-04
This book offers up a lot of great suggestions when it comes to decorating a baby's room. Definately worth the purchase.
Great Idea Book.......2006-06-08
One of the many things that change in your life when the baby comes is that he or she needs a room. (This is besides the fact that your whole life gets turned upside down.) All of a sudden there's a new person in the house. A person with different requirements. Furniture needs to be different: a crib at first, then smaller chairs, storage (huge amounts of storage for diapers, for toys), and probably different decorations.
This book, by a former editor of Homes and Gardens talks about some of the ways you'll need to change your homes. Some of the things she talks about are things you'll notice that you've already done. Some of the things are good ideas that you'll want to implement. Some of the things she does just don't go far enough -- for instance I've always thought that having an eating area for the child that you can hose out once in a while seemed like a good idea.
Great idea book for the new mommy or even for daddy. Maybe he can build some of these things.

Book Description
"The room shared by Brother and Sister is a mess because the cubs argue over who should neaten up instead of working together. Sure to make toddlers smile while they absorb an implied lesson."--Publishers Weekly.
Customer Reviews:
the original "Mission Organization".......2007-07-16
The first time I saw this book my younger sister and I had pushed our poor mom to the limits with our messy room. Dolls, costumes, arts & crafts projects and so much more covered every surface of the room to the point we were barely able to find our beds. One day while we out were playing with the neighborhood kids, after breaking our promise we would clean the room first, my mom went in with big black garbage bags and packed up the entire mess and put the bags in the spare room. When we got home and discovered the "theft" we were livid. After she calmed us down and gave me my favorite teddy and my sister her favorite bunny, she sat us down with this book and we read it together. Gradually we got all our toys and other stuff back and the room actually did stay clean much longer than usual. She never had to take drastic action again because she would just pull out this book whenever the room started looking overly cluttered and we'd get the picture. Now twenty years later, I'm almost obsessively neat and organized (though sometimes it's fun to make a huge mess in the process of reorganizing) and I remember this book fondly every time I undertake a big organizing project. I'm sure it's not the only children's book about cleaning a messy room, but the Berenstain humor and memorable artwork make it a classic.
Scientific Facts not Accurate.......2007-02-07
I enjoyed this book (and others in the series) with my three girls when they were little who all are now twenty-somethings.
As a geologist, it was grating to see dinosaur model toys being referred to as being from the Pleistocene!! (the age of woolly mammoths, sabre-tooth tigers, dire wolfs etc.)
We wrote a letter to the Berenstains and got a cute letter reply from Papa Bear. He said they would correct the mistake in the next printing. OK, that was well over 20 years ago, and the book is still the same. Sigh! And people lament that our children are uninformed about science.
Now that my youngest daughter is about to get a teaching credential to teach science in elementary and middle school, maybe it's time for her to write another letter.
Another great story from the "Bears".......2007-01-03
My 4-yr old daughter has enjoyed the shows and stories involving the Berenstein Bears & this one is just as fun. The story covers the importance of a neat room but throws in some humor during the "pick-up" or cleaning periods involving the entire family. A great short read for little ones who are just learning the importance of cleaning up after themselves. Enjoy.
Very useful book.......2005-12-29
This is a great book to teach kids to clean up after themselves and what happens when they don't. In this book, mama gets so fed up with the mess in the cubs' room, that she comes back with a huge box and starts tossing all their things into it. Much at the cubs' protest, all their favorite toys are tossed inside. The illustrations are just wonderful in this book. They show a puzzle half finished and covered with cobwebs, spilled cups and drinks and dust and dirt all over everything. It's just very clear how nasty a room can get when it's not kept in order. Papa bear comes to the rescue and makes the cubs their very own organization center (must have watched HGTV out there in his garage where he makes his furniture!) where they have a toybox and a pegboard to store the items in the room. And, he makes boxes with labels to stack in their closet for their smaller items so they don't come tumbling out onto their heads anymore.
Everyone is very happy with the solution, especially the cubs since now they have a room they can enjoy themselves and with their friends.
Highly recommend!
I loved this book.......2005-12-28
I loved this book as a kid but unfortunately I could never live up to it and am the biggest slob ever and I'm in my 20's

glad to see it.......2006-12-22
I'm glad to see this book is still in print. I don't have anything to add to other reviewers' details about it. I enjoyed it many years ago with my own children. I certainly recommend it.
Basic vocabulary.......2006-12-21
This book is very helpful for beginning readers. Most of the words are on the Dolch sight word list of words which should be recognized instantly in order for reading to flow smoothly. The quiet nature of the story makes it appropriate for a bedtime story or for developing reading skills.
Again again again!.......2006-11-12
Timeless story, heartwarming message, beautiful pictures - yeah, it's a bit outdated (Little Harry wearing his little tie while playing with his little blocks), but my 5-year-old loves it and reads it again and again and again...
A book about imagination and true friendship! A fun book for young kids!.......2006-09-29
I remember reading this book to my children a few years ago. It's a fun, imaginative book. The sparse illustrations are perfect for the tone of this book.
Harry is such a cute, lovable little character. You will fall in love with him and his horse. Highly recommended.
Also recommended: Willow King, Moon Shadow, The Toonies Invade Silicon Valley, Cowboy Ned and Andy
Easy Reader .......2006-01-15
My granddaughter learning to read loved this book. She's a horse lover, and has imaginary friends, so putting the two together was fun for her. She read it with help from me for only one word, horse. The rest she knew. I'm always looking for books for her to read.

Customer Reviews:
Decent Book.......2006-07-03
This book gave us some good ideas about how to decorate our nursery. It had great explanations about crib types, sizes and more. I wish the pages were bigger. Other than that its a good book.
An Inspiring Book.......2005-05-22
This is truly an inspiring beautiful book.It revolves
completely around babies and their myriad needs. Most of the
rooms could be called unisex for an infant. All babies like
stuffed animals, mobiles and have the same baby needs,e.g.crib,
changing area,rocking chair.
I did enjoy the little ideas that came with it-"The Asian
Look".How beautiful for a little adopted girl from China.I have
a Beatrix Potter "Peter Rabbit" room in blue & white, for my
grandson's room. This interested me because there was a
vintage theme of Beatrix Potter (pg.148)for girls done in
pink and green. They both hold the same characters on their
shelfs and I had not seen this book when I decorated.
In many ways, you see,we get ideas for either boy or girl
on each page. This will of course change (the minor decor)as
the child ages.
It is good to be reminded of the size of crib slats, lead
free paint, and other safety issues. Also,to contemplate flooring,
and the large amounts of storing space you will need. And do
check vintage toys and flea-market furniture to meet safety
requirements.
If you are looking for projects,Better Homes & Gardens,
has several soft cover books on the subject. These can usually
be found in a large Home Improvement Store or Library.
Projects but no great ideas.......2004-07-09
I was somewhat disappointed in this book in that it was really geared towards girls' rooms. Some of the ideas were helpful. But in looking back, I don't think that I should have bought this book. The photographs were very limited as well. I was looking for ideas and I didn't find them here.
classy baby room ideas.......2002-06-12
okay, i admit, i'm very picky when it comes to decorating. i recently had a baby and when it came to designing her room, i was in a quandry as to how we ideally wanted to decorate it. I'm a designer, so i prefer to stray from the pack and create a unique environment, yet still maintaining comfort and class. This book brought it all together! The colors, themes and choice of furniture were ideal to what we had in mind. No corny ideas in this book. The rooms are designed so that they can grow with the baby for a while as well. I'm hoping our little girl will enjoy her garden theme for at least 5 more years :) If you're one to do projects, the book instructs you on how they created a few of the room accents...a floral coat rack, for example.
Great ideas, great photography, great book.

Book Description
Starting with the simplest images-apples for A, bowls for B, cat for C-Sara Pinto has taken a magical leap in the concept of alphabet books. Each letter has a door, and behind each door the objects arrange and rearrange themselves so that with every letter the picture becomes more complex. Letter by letter, magical scenes unfold inside the room. With gentle humor and charming design, this lift-the-flap alphabet book transcends the genre to offer something truly unique.
Customer Reviews:
LOVE this book!.......2007-06-13
My 6 year old and 3 year old love this book! We never get tired of looking at it and all the wonderful illustrations. It really keeps the kids attention and engages them in the book...they are always looking for something new when we look through it. I buy this for all of our friends kids. A definite must have!
wonderful!.......2007-05-09
my one and a half year old son loves this book! i think it is a wonderful magical read. highly recommend for all ages.
nice book.......2007-01-25
this book is great to teach kids the alphabet. the pictures are sometimes odd for the letter (such as M is for moustache) but overall my son really likes this book. It is very clear as when you open the book, the letter is on the left page and the picture is on the right page (for example: the letter A is on the left, and on the right page you see apples) The right page also opens up to each object being arranged differently in the scene and eventually all objects that represent a letter are all in the room, making sometimes silly scenes that kids enjoy.
Great, Fun Book.......2007-01-10
This book is adorable. Toddlers will enjoy it for years. It teaches the alphabet(obviously) and promotes memory skills. This book would make a great baby gift- it is a must have for any little one's personal library!
Perfect for your little learner!.......2006-04-18
We bought this book for our two year old daughter and absolutely LOVE it. It has big letters on one page and an object that starts with the letter opposite -- PLUS a building picture that contains the previous objects under a lift-the-flap for each set. Our daughter quickly learned her alphabet and can now recognize all the letters and many new objects she didn't know before: jester, quilt, painting (to name a few). Plus, this book is INTERESTING and really promotes spending some quality time with your kids. It has so much to it that we take it on airplanes and long car trips -- you could spend a few minutes going quickly through letters or a half hour exploring the photos and spelling words. What a tremendous book!

Harold Drew a Picture & Took a Trip On the Imagination Hghy.......2005-05-04
Harold needs a picture on his wall, so he takes a crayon and starts to draw and his pictures seem to come to life, getting bigger and bigger as he draws first a line, then a little town, then some woods, then a road. He drew the moon, mountains, clouds and the sea. Then a boat on the sea, fish too, then a cliff and a lighthouse on the cliff. More mountains and clouds next, then train tracks and all of a sudden Harold is lost in his drawing. Fortunately he can erase it and find his way back.
This is a nice little fantasy story my son Devon just loves. Of course I've been making up words for the last year or so, but now that he's approaching three and knows all his letters and that letters form words, he is getting a new appreciation for this book. I am too.
This is a book for beginning readers. The words are simple, grammar too. Harold's story is sure to keep your toddler interested, so much better than the "See Spot Run" kind of early readers. If you want your child reading before Kindergarten, and I do, then this book and books like it are very good additions to your toddlers reading arsenal.

THIS IS A FABULOUS BOOK TO READ OUT LOUD.......1998-12-03
I adored this book when I was a kid (some 30 years ago) and since then I have read it out loud to lots of kids -- including groups in hospitals and at libraries. They always love it -- expecially the age 3 to 5 crowd. The illustrations are very simple, but really appealing to kids. It's also a terrific book for beginning readers since the vocabulary is pretty simple.

Great designs and picture full of ideas.......2005-09-13
This book is very colorful and gave me ideas of how to do a room but on a cheap scale than in the book. The book has varies themes and wallpaper murals. However, after recently removing wallpaper from a baby's room I decided painting would be easier and more functional. Children grow so fast and a nice light color with updating enhancements can give a room a fresh new look for your child-toddler-preteen. I choose a nice light blue for my daughter. She has a nice cherrywood bed and the blue looks nice together. Also many of ther toys can be incorporated into her room of color until a theme is selected.
I love this book.......2005-07-19
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for nursery ideas. The pictures and ideas are beautiful!
This is the baby room book to own!.......2005-05-18
This is a complete resource for planning a baby's room. It goes beyond the visual decor and provides practical advice for for everything from flooring to bedding. As the youngest of 4 siblings I've been around & babysat several babies and toodlers, yet the smart tips feature proved to be very educational as I prepare a room for a baby of my own.

Customer Reviews:
Neat book as long as it's not defective........2007-09-28
Like others have said, the batteries in this lasted for just a couple of days before the light didn't work. I contacted the company and the customer service was great. I received a reply that day and was sent two sets of batteries. However, they didn't last more than a couple of days either. I contacted customer service once again and they will be sending a replacement book, but I was chastised for letting my daughter play with it during the day. I guess I should have told them that she only plays with it at night and doesn't carry it around with her in the daylight! Good grief. The book itself isn't that great, but the moon feature makes it special...when it works!
Noggin's Mom.......2007-08-18
I bought this book for my son several months ago and he loves the moon's light. the batteries finally gave out this week and I tried the number that Fox Mulder posted in his review and it really does work... they do send out free batteries and don't even charge shipping anymore! I ordered some, of course, but then also found them at a Michael's Craft store the next day... a 6 pack was only 99 cents so I bought a pack because I didn't think my son could last one more night with the moon but the free ones coming in the mail will be handy as backups.
Great Book!.......2007-07-02
This is a great book. The only reason it does not get a 5 is because the batteries wear out so fast, but other than that, my son loves it!
A must have.......2007-06-20
My 5 year old found this book for his brother who was at the time only 3 months old. He is now 11 months old and I must say both of our boys (the 5 yr old and 10 mo old)really enjoy the story and like the images of the actual book inside the book. Plus the thick cardboard pages makes it easier for our 11 mo old to hold the book and turn the pages himself. We have been very lucky with the battery had no problems! Well worth it's low price!
Cute but not great story.......2007-06-18
The story is ABOUT the book. Like "My favorite book is about the moon" and it shows a realistic image of the book being carried by the little boy. I find it weird, sort of a mirror in a mirror in a mirror type of existential issue. The moon is cute and my daughter loves to make it light up. But I wish the plot was about the MOON not the book itself.

Customer Reviews:
Good ideas but lacks what's needed to follow thru.......2007-05-03
Although this book has many cute ideas, it has a resource guide in the back that gives the website or name of only a fraction of the products. I wanted to be able to find the brand and paint color names used as well as a specific bumper and sheet set in a bedroom that would have gone perfectly in the room I'm designing and none of that information was not listed. Very frustrating. I'll keep looking for a better book.
Good Buy.......2006-04-09
I bought this book (although I think of it more like a cataloge with just over 100 pgs.& soft cover)in search of unique ideas for painting a baby nursery and I found a few. The book contains several themes and decor as well as useful ideas for furniture in children's and babies rooms alike.
Nice pictures and will give you good ideas..........2005-09-13
Pictures are very nice and will give you good ideas whether you use painted walls or wallpaper.
Great resource for even the experienced decorator!.......2002-01-08
I usually don't find what I need in these types of books, one of many in a serial of themes, but "Ideas for Great Baby Rooms" really surprised me. I noticed it at a friend's house and after flipping through the pages I had to buy one for my library. At first you'll be swept away by the beautiful full page photographs and then when you go back and begin to read the book (so often one buys decorating books for the pictures alone, but this is an exception to that rule) you'll discover there is actually a lot of useful information as well. Every topic is covered from figuring out your budget, to safety, nursery themes (or not), shopping lists, arranging the floor plan, bargain hunting, and what to do if you don't have much time.
I appreciate all of the options the author offers at each turn, and her encouragement to find your own style by using the examples in the book as a creative starting point. Many of these nurseries have a personalized feel rather than looking like a cutout from a retailer's catalog (only a couple nurseries looked dated or overdone). This book is more than inspirational, it is also informative and I find myself returning to it often.
Inspirational.......2001-07-06
I found Great Baby Rooms quite helpful. There are several styles of nurseries ranging from traditional to contemporary. I was able to show my husband nurseries similar to the ideas in my mind and he was able to agree or disagree on my selections.
