Book Description
Beloved friend,
When this little book was first published many years ago, it became a beacon of light for many people who found themselves time and time again in one valley or another. Valleys are nothing new for any of us. Some of you may be in a valley right now, or, since you never know what's around the corner, you may be on the brink of tottering into yet another valley. Or maybe you've just survived a valley that you swear you'll never revisit -- but guess what? That's precisely the valley you'll probably see again. And again.
Being in a valley can be a lonely and bewildering experience. This book was written to help you feel less lonely by reminding you that you really aren't ever alone since God is always by your side, but more important, you are always by your own side. No matter how dire the situation may seem, no matter how dark and bleak the valley may be, you have all you need within you to survive the valley -- any valley. Even though you may not know how you got into the valley in the first place, you do know, deep inside yourself, how to get through and out and free. You just need a little faith in yourself and a little guidance to find that faith within yourself.
When you are at your wit's end, take this little book and let it guide you toward the ever-present but often elusive light at the end of the tunnel. Faith in the Valley is designed to help you find the light when you need it most -- when you're in that damn tunnel. When you're most confused and in the dark and clueless as to how you got there (again!) and when you're trying to figure out not just how to get out, but stay out. For good.
Faith in the Valley has helped so many through so much that we felt it only fitting to issue this lovely gift edition to acknowledge the special place it holds in many hearts. Please share it with a friend who has served as your beacon in the past, or offer it to yourself as a reminder of the strength and wisdom you possess and can offer to others.

this book has been so helpful at valuable to me so many tough times like i'm going through now. the messages are short but powerful. this book will certainly help you restore your peace. like another poster said mine is getting worn out.
GET THIS and GIVE THIS to your favorite women:).......2004-07-06
This is my FAVORITE book by Iyanla Vanzant because of: It's size(small enough for your tiny purse), its lack of preach-i-ness and how the index is organized by subject. I feel its a synopsis of all the subjects covered in her other books. I also feel the book is applicable to women of ALL cultures. You can use it as a daily guide or you can use the index to find a subject for which you could use guidance.
A great book for daily reflection.......2002-10-22
I can not express how insightful and helpful this book is! It really makes you look deep into the reason(s) why you thought you needed a book of affirmations in the first place. This book is perfect for those "why me" and "I really can't take any more" moments when you feel like life, and everything in it, needs to give you a break. If you're a woman experiencing a lot of change in your life and it seems like you just can't handle another crisis (or is it a crisis afterall?), this is the book for you. I carry it in my purse!
Touches a Point.......2002-07-30
Each time my spirt is down, or I'm going through a situation, I turn to this book. I hold the book in my right hand by its spine, fan the pages with my left hand to stop at randum. The passages I've read, I have felt its deep spirtual feeling and I understand its meaning. Then I reflect on my situation and the passage fits. It helps me to understanding whats going on. It uplifts my spirit to deal with my situation. It give me insight to view my problem from a different angle. It also assures me that what I am currently going through will end. I will get through it. In my view, its a powerfull book. I have read several other books by Iyanla, even watched her talk show (sorry that went off the air), but like the bible, I keep Faith In The Valley near by.
Inspirational.......2001-01-16
Faith In The valley by Iyanla Vanzant is truly a book to help us on our journey toward peace. Ms. Vanzant imparts words of wisdom and encouragement. She is reminding us of some of the day to day things we take for granted. We sometimes forget to be thankful for what we have; good health, a job and a place to live. You will not regret reading this book. As Ms. vanzant writes, "What a blessing! I am so thankful" that I read this book. Go get yourself a copy of "Faith in The valley".
Book Description
Joseph Cardinal Bernardin's gentle leadership throughout his life of ministerial service had made him an internationally beloved figure, but the words he left behind about his final journey would change the lives of many more people from all faiths, from all backgrounds, and from all over the world.
In the last two months of his life, Joseph Cardinal Bernardin made it his ultimate mission to share his personal reflections and insights as a legacy to those he left behind. The Gift of Peace reveals the Cardinal's spiritual growth amid a string of traumatic events: a false accusation of sexual abuse; reconciliation a year later with his accuser, who had earlier recanted the charges; a diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and surgery; the return of cancer, now in his liver; his decision to discontinue chemotherapy and live his remaining days as fully as possible. In these pages, Bernardin tells his story openly and honestly, and shares the profound peace he came to at the end of his life. He accepted his peace as a gift from God, and he in turn now shares that gift with the world.

A PURE, GENTLE, SAINTLY VOICE WHICH LEFT US THIS EVERLASTING GIFT OF PEACE, FORGIVENESS AND RECONCILIATION WE NOW SO BADLY NEED.......2007-01-22
Those of us losing our eyesight and who love to read often turn to the audiobook. It is like having a wonderful text read to us at bedtime as we listen on levels spiritual and psychological unreached by silent reading. Please notice the audiobook of this present precious text of peace is read by a Monsignor, a close coworker of this blessed Cardinal.
The false accusations of abuse made against this great American Cardinal were quickly cleared up, and this slim volume insightfully and clearly records that process and the holy process of reconciliation with his false accuser, in a lesson for us of peace and reconciliation and of forgiveness of those who most completely destroy us. The Cardinal truly lives and demonstrates for us the promise we make each time we pray the Our Father. Forgive us in the same way that we forgive those who have trespassed against us. Forgive us with the same forgiveness we show others. Just as we must do unto others what we want others to do for us, JEsus also calls us actively to forgive others in the same way we want the Father to forgive us. This saintly and courageous Cardinal Forgave the disturbed young man who falsley accused him of abuse, and this book well displays the process, that we might also learn to forgive, in the Love of God, in our interpersonal relationships and national policies.
How many times must we forgive, o Lord. Not seven but seventy times seven.
We need in our national Catholic Church this voice now more than ever. Read this book and weep and become renewed in our Gospel mission to love and to forgive and to spread the good news to the poor and liberation to the captives. Sight to the Blind. In this time of unjust war and overwhelming violence, we need to hear this book.
Yet some Catholics for political reasons continue to condemn this saintly man (while silent on Cardinal Law), eagerly assuming the accusations true, or some association with others similarly accused, in order not to hear the exhortation by this great Cardinal that the right to life does not end at birth, but at a natural and God given death. The right to life must be supported at every point in our life and in every aspect of life. This great CArdinal elaborated for our edification the seamless garment explanation of the right to life.
Womb to tomb.
Please read this book.
I must rush to Mass now, and I bring this book with me to help my confused prayer. I thank God this great and holy and courageous Cardinal left us this Gift of Peace in the weeks before his untimely death. As head of the USCCB at the time of the crafting of the prophetic letter The Challenge of Peace, his courageous voice is needed now more than ever. Yet we have this, his abiding Gift of Peace, and that strong letter for peace. Take and read.
Pray for peace. Receive this Gift of Peace.
Statement of a great man........2006-08-28
Joseph Cardinal Bernardin made a very large impact on the City of Chicago. A simple, humble, very human being, he was greatly loved by all Chicagoans. At the end of his life, two huge events impacted his life, being falsely charged with sexual molestation by a young man, and learning that his life was soon to end as the victim of cancer. This book is a moving, eloquent statement of how he dealt with these and how his faith in God was tested and ultimately made rock solid. It is an inspiration to all who who are faced with burdens beyond their strength.
The perfect gift.......2006-07-08
I have purchased this book several times and recommended it on numerous other occasions. I bought it first for myself, and on the other occasions for friends, family members and acquaintances who were dealing with serious illness and end of life issues. The feedback received from each recipient has been very positive. Cardinal Bernardin leads the reader through his last days of life as he deals in a very graceful and touching way with terminal cancer, life's issues and personal spirituality. It's not long until the reader feels he or she is walking the journey with a close friend. Through his experinece, Cardinal Bernardin helps the reader deal with his or her own mortality in a peaceful way. He is still ministering to us. I highly recommend this book for all those dealing with illness, family members, ministers, and healthcare professionals. Incidently, You don't have to be Catholic to fully appreciate this book.
A True Holy Man.......2006-04-13
The Gift of Peace was recommended to me by the rabbi who presided over my father's funeral, which tells you something about its universal appeal. In deceptively simple and beautiful prose, Cardinal Bernardin chronicles his last days in which he makes the most of his ministry. The Gift of Peace is a story of moral and spiritual courage from which we can all benefit.
Last Words We Have From Bernardin.......2005-08-29
Former Cincinnati archbishop and Chicago Cardinal-Archbishop Joseph Bernardin knew he was dying when he undertook this final goodbye to the peoples of his Church. It is impossible to open this slender volume and not have that foremost in mind. Even the opening pages here are hand-written in the Cardinal's beautiful penmanship. This man, once seriously considered American's one great hope for the Papacy, lived a life in so many ways worthy of imitation. The late Cardinal was imperfect, needless to say, and his personal epistemological beliefs were not shared by all Americans, but in the good things that may be known of him, he was inspiring in a highly positive way. He personified modesty, dignity, grace, and exercised almost super-human powers of personal forgiveness as demonstrated in his laying aside all enmity toward the troubled young man who falsely accused him of molestation. Bernardin was a man who committed the first hour of every day of his life to prayerful meditation, and in a reversal of the past dogmatic intolerance of Catholicism, advocated the ecumenical consanguinity of all humans regardless of race, religion or creed. When visiting a Chicago-area synagogue during his time as Cardinal, Bernardin greeted the Jewish worshipers there by telling them, "I am Joseph, your brother."
This book tells in his own words Bernardin's battle with the cancer that ultimately killed him. He was a man who did not shun death, he embraced it as part of life, and--in his view-the doorway to a better existence. It also tells of how his faith sustained him in his darkest hour (far more dire, he confesses, than the terminal cancer) which came in the months that followed the unfounded accusations of pederasty made against him by a one-time seminarian.
Bernardin, through this last book, founds a legacy of moral goodness that should stand as a challenge not just to Roman Catholics but to humanity everywhere, to lay aside anger, pessimism and violence, and strive toward a life in which hope, peace, selflessness, form the foundation. In this post-911 world, we probably need more than ever to remember that there are, were, and will be good people in human society who set examples for all of us. In The Gift of Peace it is our privilege to know one.
Bernardin, who completed this work on November 1, 1996, passed away on November 14th of that same year. I remember waking up to the news on local television as I was preparing for classes in my final year at a Catholic school in his one-time archdiocese. I was struck then that he was truly gone and that such a figure of profound importance, about whom I'd grown up hearing so much, wouldn't be there any longer. However, through this book, in a way, his life and works can, via inspiration, still prove influential.
This man will one day be a canonized Saint of his church, and this is his last earthly "talk" to those of remaining in this life.

Book Description
Nexus offers an engaging and insightful journey of an odd mix of people drawn together to a spiritual retreat to overcome personal pain. This book will please readers of spiritual, new age, inspirational, self-help and visionary fiction books. It weaves insights within the narrative like The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield and The Peaceful Warrior series by Dan Millman.
Starting with a dramatic suicide scene through intimate details of the struggle of Logan Andrews with depression and despair, we are brought on a journey of inner struggle and personal transformation. The reader is transported to a spiritual retreat where the experiences of people at the retreat provide illuminating life lessons. The tone of book creates an authentic journey that is both exploratory and insightful.
The overriding theme in
Nexus is mystical in its nature, narrating experiences of deeper connection felt with one another and all of life. This is poignantly highlighted in key passages, including Logan's empathy for a dying fish in Chapter 6.
Customer Reviews:
Need for Spiritual Change.......2007-07-01
I've read many spiritual books and this one really spoke to me with a story that communicated about both the highs and lows of spiritual life through the touching journey of people at a retreat center. Each person in the story is dealing with their own sorrow from the depression-despair of Logan, Sarah's loss of direction and Muriel's desire to be comforted in her old age. Steven is fixated on his money-making schemes and in order for him to experience growth, he needs to connect to the path of love.
The story speaks of something deeper - a need for spiritual change. It isn't always stated on the surface and you have to dig deeper to recognize that as the central theme of this book. Yet you feel this impulse motivating the communication between teachers and students at the retreat center and the experiences there allude to a deeper bond - to the Nexus that connects us all through our heart where empathy and compassion can grow with experiences of our Oneness. The compassion Logan shows for a dying fish vividly captures this theme. This vision of non-duality is always there beneath the surface though our ego stands in the way of its realization.
The message in this book is beautiful and so I want others to know about it. Through spiritual books like this, we can delve into consciousness transformation and share it with others.
Really Bad. Don't Buy.......2007-06-30
I made the mistake of purchasing this book because it was referenced in a review for The Road (an amazing fiction currently on the best seller list). Now I realize I was probably led into buying it by one of the authors' friends or supporters. The 5 star reviews are bias, to say the least! The dialogue is beyond bad. It is stilted and at times downright silly. I love top quality spiritual writings like "The Power of Now" by E. Tolle or the writings of D. Chopra. It's not that I am spiritually closed, I just know very bad writing when I see it.
This "fiction" is an attempt to flesh out the spiritual teachings of the two authors through poorly crafted, one dimensional characters. I would rather drink flax oil and fast for a week to better my soul than read this kind of stuff. I anticipate receiving some unsupportive votes for this review, and these will likely come from the friends of the authors who have written the 5 star reviews. So be it. I'd rather be honest and save the potential Amazon customer some money!
Thought Provoking.......2007-05-30
NEXUS is an absorbing guide to the dazzling universe of spirituality! Written in the appealing genre of a new age novel I found NEXUS to be a remarkable psychological and spiritual adventure filled with mystery, enchantment, romance, insights, as well as being highly realistic in terms of life's joys and sorrows. I just couldn't put the book down!!!
The diverse assortment of characters were realistic, and the plot was deep, lively and fast paced throughout. NEXUS WORKED AT VERY DEEP LEVELS OF MY MIND TO PENETRATE MY SUBCONSCIOUS AND TO EXPAND AND INSPIRE MY SUPERCONSCIOUS MIND. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!
By carefully reading NEXUS and reflecting on the philosophical insights inherent throughout the book I found that I could tap into my deepest inner centre of being- my inner source of strength, wisdom and compassion...what a discovery!!!
I heard about NEXUS from a friend and that is why I bought the book. I told another friend about NEXUS but she had already just finished reading it and was most impressed.
It seems that people everywhere are suddenly experiencing an intense attraction to NEXUS, one of the most valuable books I've read in a long time.
Another new age novel that I highly recommend is The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO: A Remarkable Story About Living Your Heart's Desires
Spiritually Uplifting.......2007-05-21
Every once in a while you come across a book that resonates at a deeper soulful level. "Nexus: A Neo Novel" is one of those books that touches you through a spiritual journey of transformation of people in the book. Their transformation is an inner one at the level of their heart and psyche.
For Logan Andrews the transformation requires that he move from negative thoughts and emotions to positive ones. This task is fraught with difficulties, since even at a spiritual retreat intended to help people find the centre of their being called the Nexus, Logan is confronted with his greatest loss as he meets his ex, Sarah.
I really liked the sub-plot with Steven, an arrogant millionaire, who at first is irritating but in time he grows on you and becomes an endearing person. Steven believes that money is the answer to life's problems but has he lost his way?
Even though the writers of "Nexus" have their own unique voice, still this book reminds me of other visionary writers like James Redfield, Carlos Castaneda and Dan Millman. I highly recommend "Nexus" as a deeply moving experience of personal transformation whose message spiritual readers will most appreciate.
Powerful Insights.......2007-04-23
The appeal of "Nexus" lies in an original story that is fast-paced and chock-full of powerful insights. This book is about transformation as an organic process.
The novel is unique as a collaborative effort by two authors who have successfully integrated their writing into an inspiring narrative. This book explores the ups and downs of spiritual life through the journey of people at a spiritual retreat and we can relate their experiences to our own life.
I love this book for its piercing insights and a memorable soulful journey. "Nexus" reminds me of books like "The Celestine Prophecy," "The Life of Pi" and "The Alchemist" - some other books that I've enjoyed reading.

Book Description
Why do we suffer? How can we pray? How can we live as followers of Jesus in an unbelieving world? These are some of the questions the late Pope John Paul II addresses in this collection of his most intimate words, drawn from his many writings during his quarter century as pope. The material in Go in Peace is arranged in twelve chapters that correspond to the themes that dominated his papacy. Editor Joseph Durepos emphasizes the words John Paul directed to lay Catholics and to the world at large. They are memorable, heartfelt, often striking words that articulate an astonishingly powerful vision of what it means to be a Christian in today's world.
Go in Peace displays and preserves the compassion, intellect, and poetry of the most visible and influential Christian leader of modern times.
Customer Reviews:
The Wisdom of John Paul II.......2007-06-12
This book is a nice collection of writings by John Paul II condensed in one nice book. The sections are broken up into among other sections; prayer, reconcilliation, the family, faith and belief, God the Father, living in the world and more. Each chapter also has a John Paul II quote and a quote from scripture. A very nice book for reading and reflecting in quiet moments. A great book for someone seeking practical application of faith or looking to understand Catholicism better. A great look at the faith of the Pope that reminded us to "be not afraid".
The Best Collection.......2005-04-28
This is the collection of the late pope's writings that I have returning to again and again over the past month. It has been thoughtfully edited by the same person who compiled NO GREATER LOVE, a wonderful selection of the writings of Mother Teresa. It carefully organizes John Paul II's most personal thoughts into twelve important themes that form the heart of John Paul's beliefs about being a Christian in the modern world. And it reveals a pastoral dimension that is sometimes missing from other selections of his work.
John Paul 101 -- for study and for prayer.......2005-04-09
"Go in Peace" is the best way to look back over John Paul II's remarkable pontificate. Durepos has gathered the clearest and most powerful statements of all the major themes. It's impossible to understand the 20th century without understanding this pope and his role in its history. To read this book is to begin to understand. It's also a great way to jump-start your prayer life. Reading these meditations is almost like praying with the man himself. In fact, now that he's gone to his reward, it CAN be a time of truly praying with the man!
A Wonderful Book!.......2005-04-06
As a modern Catholic in the U.S., I have to admit that what goes on in Rome seems so distant from my life most of the time. This book really made me feel that the teachings of this Pope were, and still are, relevant to me, a less-than-perfect spiritual practitioner. John Paul II wasn't just some powerful figurehead of a giant organization (whose members are often at odds with its ancient, Rome-dictated policies). He was, in fact, a human being whose tremendous capacity to love others extended even to the likes of me.

A Book and CD Gift Set
Grace, dignity, and eloquence have long been hallmarks of Maya Angelou’s poetry. Her measured verses have stirred our souls, energized our minds, and healed our hearts. Whether offering hope in the darkest of nights or expressing sincere joy at the extraordinariness of the everyday, Maya Angelou has served as our common voice.
Celebrations is a collection of timely and timeless poems that are an integral part of the global fabric. Several works have become nearly as iconic as Angelou herself: the inspiring “On the Pulse of Morning,” read at President Bill Clinton’s 1993 inauguration; the heartening “Amazing Peace,” presented at the 2005 lighting of the National Christmas Tree at the White House; and “Mother,” which beautifully honors the first woman in our lives. Angelou writes of celebrations public and private; included in this volume are a bar mitzvah wish to her nephew and a birthday greeting to Oprah Winfrey.
More than a writer, Angelou is a chronicler of history, an advocate for peace, and a champion for the planet, as well as a patriot, a mentor, and a friend. To be shared and cherished, the wisdom and poetry of Maya Angelou prove there is always cause for celebration.
Customer Reviews:
Just a Really Thoughful Compilation.......2007-02-12

Book Description
Receiving a diagnosis of autism is a major crisis for parents and families, who often feel as if their world has come to an end. In this insightful narrative, a courageous and inspiring mother explains why a diagnosis of autism doesn't have to shatter a family's dreams of happiness. Senator offers the hard-won, in-the-trenches wisdom of someone who's been there and is still there today—and she demonstrates how families can find courage, contentment, and connection in the shadow of autism.
In Making Peace with Autism, Susan Senator describes her own journey raising a child with a severe autism spectrum disorder, along with two other typically developing boys. Without offering a miracle treatment or cure, Senator offers valuable strategies for coping successfully with the daily struggles of life with an autistic child.
Along the way she models the combination of stamina and courage, openness, and humor that has helped her family to survive—and even to thrive. Topics include: the agony of diagnosis, grieving and acceptance, finding the right school program, helping siblings with their struggles and concerns, having fun together, and keeping the marriage strong.
Customer Reviews:
Sue Senator gets it right.......2007-03-19
Sue Senator's autism book is not just another parent's story about facing autism. She has something to say, useful information to immpart, and she is not looking to find or share a miracle cure. She is a little ahead of the curve on the autism epidemic - her son is nearly grown - and thus her perspective is very useful for parents with younger children (and typical siblings) wondering about the future and coping with diagnosis and the larger issues of long-term advocacy.
Excellent, uplifting book!.......2007-02-24
After reading countless books on autism, mostly about theories and treatments, this book is a breath of fresh air! It was so encouraging to read an honest, open life story of a family living with autism on a daily basis. It doesn't give false hope, nor do the family members act like little stoics. They're just real people who are dealing with life every day, and who try to find real happiness in just taking life one day at a time. I admire Susan Senator's positive attitude. She admits that she has a tough time, but picks up the pieces and goes on from there. I thank her for sharing such a personal story; it will help countless families.
good read for young families .......2007-02-16
This is a good read for young families first struggling with a new diagnosis of Autism. Also good for families with siblings, with advice about how to care for their needs.
Parents of autistic kids and any who work with autism need this.......2007-01-07
Parents of autistic kids and any who work with autism need MAKING PEACE WITH AUTISM: ONE FAMILY'S STORY OF STRUGGLE, DISCOVERY, AND UNEXPECTED GIFTS: it provides important keys to coping and discusses the challenges of raising an autistic child. Susan Senator raised a child with a severe autism spectrum disorder along with two other normally-developing boys: her strategies offer invaluable coping insights and shows how the entire family changed and adjusted.

so-so........2007-01-05
I enjoy most all books on Autism. Everyone has a wonderful story to tell, and I love to hear what they do for their children to help them thrive. Susan seems like a wonderful mom full of courage and gusto. I did not like how the book jumps around from one point in Nats life to the next and back again. I appreciate progressing time lines. I apreciate how she accepts her son as he is. That is lovely. But knowing what I do about autism, I wish she would have done more in the way of biomedical treatments to find someunderlying causes to some of his symptoms. Some things CAN be cured with these kids-you don't just treat the symptoms-you are missing the big piture. Other things CAUSE syptoms-they are the result of something. Not everything is just chalked up to being the way the autistic brain works and that is that and there is nothing you can do but "train the child" how to act. You are cheating your child if you do not try to figure out what makes him tick from his head to his toes. maybe the Senators did this on some levels, but they did not talk about it much. They seemed to just like to medicate the problems away whenever possible. medication can be a wonderful life saving thing, but sometime you lose the real person when doing so. I know first hand-I was medicated for depression when there was an underlying phyical condition that caused it and was cured when that was addressed and taken care of. I never got the sense that they did a whole lot of digging that way-just accepting that Nat was Nat. I was left wondering what might have been for him. Maybe something a little different. Maybe not. God bless them for being so caring and accepting and strong.

The Twelve Gifts for Healing.......2006-07-19
I highly recommend this book! Any age or issue from physical healing to everyday problems. The book reads in a matter of a few minutes. Its message will resonate with you all day. It reunited me with my heart, and a willingness to be my authetic self. The message is simple, yet POWERFUL. It re-acquainted me with what I've always known though forgot to remember. And, gives me permission (and a responsibility) to "go within" on a regular basis. For if "We don't go within, we go without". (I don't know who to credit for that saying).
Charlene, you are an angel on earth. May you receive the blessings you give to others.
Comfort and Courage.......2004-11-26
This is an exceptionally beautiful and touching book. My daughter is being treated for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and The Twelve Gifts for Healing brought comfort and courage to her, my cancer patient friends and to me.
Truly Inspiring.......2004-11-23
While reading this book I actually was talking to myself , saying things about how nice but simple the whole presentation was, but then.....suddenly the complex and powerful, deep meaning had an overwhelming effect on me. I have Lymphoma and had just finished not so fun chemotherapy. My background as a college football player gave me the strength and courage to put up a strong fight and deal with the many side affects chemo creates. I knew I needed to have a very positive outlook to whip this thing and everyone felt I had it under control. Never missed a day of work, came in, in the afternoons, after treatments in the mornings. But the Twelve Gifts for Healing made me realize in order to heal I had to believe not just act. It made me realize I needed to release the bitterness and anger that I still harbored internally. I have a qoute that came to mind:
"Bitterness consumes the capsule that contains it" Twelve Gifts allowed me to release these feelings and actually forgive myself for becoming sick. Yes I felt giulty, must have deserved it somehow, I thought. This is truly a great book that delivers a powerful message and I hope many others are fortunate enought o experience it's healing inspiration.

'The warmth from the windows'.......2007-08-26
This book was given to me as a gift a few years ago. I picked it up again a few days ago to enjoy the illustrations and to remind myself of the messages.
It would be hard, I think, to look at this book and not be uplifted by the beauty of the illustrations and the deceptive simplicity of the messages.
A book to be savoured.

thomas kincaid ' art and words bring it home !.......2006-07-26
The pictures are perfect, the stories moving and clearly paint the picture expected by the title "A Simpler Time"
One very good coffe' table book.......2001-12-02
I first saw Tomas Kinkades work at a gallery in Port Jefferson Long Island. They were set in special rooms with typical individual lights for each piece. There were dimmer switches in the room that we were able to control the lighting, enhancing the effects. The paintings actually came alive with light as I dimmed the house lights. I'm not in the position to afford his work but with this book I'm at least able to enjoy the experience. The book is so good you can see the brush strokes and even the bumps in the canvas It's not as good as the real thing although it dose tease your senses. So sit back. Put on some soothing music and live the experience.
Simpler Times by Thomas Kinkade.......2001-11-08
At the college I work at I teach classes on personal development and stress management through hardiness training. Recently, in class, we were discussing whether it is possible to experience joy when in the midst of challenges and trials. Through beautiful artwork and inspired narrative in "Simpler Times," Mr. Kinkade demonstrates how one can experience peace and joy in a hectic world. The book was like food for my soul. Thank you.
A Great Gift for Yourself in this busy world.......2000-07-26
I bought this book 2 years ago, as a reward for myself. It's so beautiful and tranquil that reminded me of the simpler time is really what I want.
