Book Description

This leading-edge CD by Esther and Jerry Hicks, who present the teachings of the nonphysical entity Abraham, is about having a deliberate intent for whatever you want in life, while at the same time balancing your energy along the way. But it's important to note that the awareness of the need to balance your energy is much more significant than goal-setting or focusing on ultimate desires. And it is from this very important distinction that this work has come forth.

As you come to understand and effectively practice the processes offered here, you will not only achieve your goals and desired outcomes more rapidly, but you'll enjoy every single step along the path even before their manifestation. As such, you'll find that the living of your life is an ongoing journey of joy, rather than a series of long dry spells between occasional moments of temporary satisfaction.

3 out of 5 stars Good, but not the best I've heard from Abraham-Hicks.......2007-09-25

I have listened to a few recordings by these authors and find this particular recording not as superior as Ask and It Is Given, Part II, The Processes. I would not purchase this item again if I could do it over.

5 out of 5 stars Abraham & Vibrational Energy Concepts .......2007-09-05

This is a very good book on CD, and is life-changing material, if you are willing to believe in something that may sound VERY different to you. Most people do not believe in this way. "The Amazing Power of Deliberate Intent" is the entire CD. Part 1 is "Living the Art of Allowing" and is a collection of 4 CDs, narrated mainly by Jerry Hicks. Part 2 is "Living the Path to Joy Through Energy Balance" and is a second collection of 4 CDs. You really want to buy both packages to get the entire book.

Abraham is a collective consciousness who speaks to Esther. She then relays the material. The material speaks primarily of metaphysical energy and its relationship to all that there is. It goes in-depth into manifestation by aligning your personal vibrational energies to match what you really want. Again, I know that's a hard concept to swallow, but that is the Law of Attraction. You really DO get what you think about. I have been studying metaphysical energy for about the last 7 or 8 years and I have seen the evidence soooo many times. Unfortunately, because of fear and control and many other negative personal vibrations, people usually think about what they DON'T want and that is what they manifest. Put simply, instead of seeing their car running smoothly on a log trip, they worry "What if it breaks down?". Instead of thinking about money in a positive way, they usually think of a LACK of money, and generally worry about it. So, they usually get what they do NOT want.

Anyway, this set of CDs not only explains the concept very well, but gives real-life examples and examples of the proper (aligned) thinking versus the non-aligned (improper) thinking, so you can begin to change your vibration to attract what you DO want. Like I said though, you need both CDs and an open mind, a VERY open mind. You also need to really work at this vibrational change to achieve successes with it. Even when you do achieve successes, it's hard to believe because we were just not conditioned to believe this way.

All that said, it's a great product and these are not the only authors talking about vibrational energy matching to manifest. What they say is right on target.

CD1, this set is slightly less than 2 and a half hours. The other CD set is slightly more than 2 and a half hours. Both sets together total over 5 hours of audio book material which you can easily listen to in the car on your way to work. These 8 CDs have the potential to change your life.

5 out of 5 stars Further Insight Into The Laws Of Attraction.......2007-08-08

I have purchased and listened to all the Abraham-Hicks material available and next to the actual "Laws Of Attraction" CD, this CD has to be the most insightful in furthering the distinctions of the actual Laws of Attraction. It has been very useful to me as a coach of the material and has helped my clients immensely. I would recommend it to any student of the Laws of Attraction to help give them a better understanding of how the laws work.

3 out of 5 stars More Positive Abe.......2007-07-31

This a good continuing series of workshop excerpts on various challenging life situations. Read by Jerry, this adds a little more color and warmth to the material.

1 out of 5 stars What the....?.......2007-08-17

I was so disappointed with this book, and extremely disappointed that it got 5-star reviews. If I had known that this was just a woman's personal story and NOT a guide to recovering intuition, I never would have purchased it.

The author's personal story is 3/4 of the book. THREE QUARTERS. Parts were OK, a little was interesting, but come on, I did not buy this book to read about her troubled and sordid life. I've got my own life for that, lol. I wanted a book that would help me increase my own intuition. When I finally got past her story, all that was left was a list of very basic things we all need to do in life anyway, most of which I had already done. Not one thing in this book was helpful to me at all.

Disappointed, but I'll get over it. There are a few authors out there who actually write about increasing your intuition and psychic abilities. This woman doesn't happen to be one of them.

5 out of 5 stars Powerful! A MUST HAVE FOR ALL!.......2007-08-02

This is the best book written to date relating to opening your intuition.
Colette's own true story in the early part of this book IS truly inspiring, her way with words are as angelic as she. This book will become your companion for Colette takes the reader on an incredible journey of sharing her experiences, and learning and a reawakening of your soul and your intuition with so much love,The exercises she provides to open your intuition presented here are incredibly life changing .I keep finding myself returning to this book...I went to an event in Boston,Mass a few weeks ago where Colette was the co-guest,she should have been the main headliner for she made the show shine..What a vibrant, energetic, loving caring woman..after the show I was afforded the generosity of having my book signed by her(1st in line)and she didn't rush me along like other authors do,she is very, very kind, loving, patient and a beautiful lady with a magnificent soul and her energy vibrates at such a high frequency, wonderfully beautiful energy..All heart and soul and then some!
She personalized my book signing,a rarity these days. This is a must have book for everyone,I cannot state this enough.Hay House please continue with more editions, for this book is of great importance for all.Thank you Colette for one of greatest times in my life.I look forward to more books from this author and I highly recommend her meditation cd-Journey through the Chakras < 5 out of 5 stars Honest, Heartfelt, Timeless.......2007-07-31

All of these adjectives describe Colette Baron-Reids candid, heartwarming book Remembering the Future: The Path to Recovering Intuition.

Colette tackles the slippery job of detailing some heady, gossamer-type topics with casual aplomb, and girl-next-door humor.

She has an inviting voice that encourages both greenhorn and veteran intuitives to venture out into new horizons of perspectives within the field of soul-perception.

I gather that one of Colette's objectives in writing this book was to restore the arena of psychic ability/intuitive strengths back to its original organic grace. She has succeeded remarkably in achieving this goal.

It takes guts to be as candid as she has been in the telling of her journey - kudos Colette, for expressing yourself with class and for your contribution to de-mystifying a much misunderstood arena.

5 out of 5 stars "Awakening Intuition".......2007-07-25

Colette shares her experiences that led to her surrendering to what she already knew to be true. She was blessed with the gift of intuition, and her service was to accept it and share it. The first part of the book is her story. I enjoyed reading her story, it's really interesting. Just because she's intuitive (she prefers not to be labeled psychic because of the stigma that goes along with it.)doesn't mean that she's had things easy. There were plenty of times when her intuition was blocked and she experienced some painful events. She talks about how it left her and when it returned. And, being ituitive never guaranteed that she'd always make the right choices.

The second part of the book is about unblocking (recovering) your intuition. The remaining chapters are on 'The Seven Spiritual Keys' -advice and excercises you can do to put yourself in a better position to access/ recover your intuition. This section of the book is what I'll be re-reading and studying. I found so much good information here, not just about how to be more intuitive, but how to be more spiritual which seems to automatically strengthen your intuition.

Colette says that intuition is "a natural sixth sense that is bestowed on everyone -Without exception." It's just that we're all at very different levels with it. She likens it to her being in the olympic category. (While I think most of all the rest of us are somewhere around the high school gym level.)

I learned a lot from this book, and am looking forward to studying/ excercising the seven spiritual keys.

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book !!!!.......2007-06-08

This book is a wonderful read! If you are not from the Northeast and don't know much on the Ivy Leagues and their past, it's a great book to get an understanding on the subject. Somewhat Cloak & Daggar, but very intersting indeed!

2 out of 5 stars Just as others said - quite the disappointment..........2007-05-29

I was looking for some interesting insight but found very little in this book. It provides the basics of the society and what I'm sure is public knowledge but no insider information... Generally disappointing.

2 out of 5 stars Either a fantastic work of disinformation, or an incredibly boring read.......2007-05-07

This book is either great or awful. Great if my longshot hunch is true: Alexandra (herself a secret society member) merely leads readers off the path and convinces them that there really is nothing to Skull and Bones. Awful if this is the real boring truth of the club. If it is the truth, then it doesn't really warrant a full book. A mere few pages stating: Skull and Bones: an average fraternity that happened to survive for many many years and have a few third-tier Presidents, sleazy CIA agents, and a handful of Congressman.
Is the book believable? Who knows.
I'd like a book written by a true outsider, and not someone who attended Yale herself as well as joined a secret society.
I say its a coin-flip: the society is either incredibly boring as this book attempts to tell you, or this book is just what they want you to believe. Either way, its dull and a very slow read.

Maybe the only way i will know for sure is if i disappear and my bank accounts are frozen after i post this...

4 out of 5 stars Can you trust a 322 and Scroll and Key collaboration? .......2007-04-22

There is a lot of interesting stuff in this but you have to ask yourself how much the information in it can be trusted because for one the author gets a good portion of it from anonymous Skull & Bones members who talked because they claimed they were tired of hearing so much weird speculation about them. So for one, how can you be sure what they told her was accurate and not intentional disinformation. For another even if what they gave her was true, its still information that they chose to let out but not the whole story. Another big factor that has to make you wonder is it turns out that the woman who wrote Secrets of the Tomb was her self a member of another elitist secret society at Yale, Scroll & Key.

This book is worth reading if your researching S & B but you just have to wonder how honest it is. The best book on the Skull & Bones is Fleshing Out Skull & Bones which was edited by Kris Millegan. Antony Suttons work on the 322 cabal is also highly recomended.

3 out of 5 stars Not the revelation I expected.......2007-03-09

While this book was reasonably entertaining and readable, it tended to get repetitious and did not deliver the "secrets" as advertised. The underlying consipracies were only old school bonds that anyone could expect from a frat house.

The profound understanding of the uses and abuses of power Robert Caro displayed in his 1974 biography of Robert Moses, The Power Broker, is a scathing achievement the author surpassed with panache in this, his second book. Caro's dogged research and refusal to accept received wisdom results in an eye-opening portrait that unforgettably captures the titanic personality of Lyndon Baines Johnson (1908-1973). Though stronger on Johnson's duplicity and naked self-promotion than his intelligence and charm, Caro nails it all. He chronicles the evolution of an attention-demanding youth from the Texas hill country into a seasoned congressman who would abandon his ardent espousal of the New Deal as soon as it ceased to be expedient. The dirty details begin with college elections that earn young Lyndon a reputation as a crook and a liar; Caro goes on to unravel financial shenanigans of impressive ingenuity. Johnson's consuming desire to get ahead and his political genius "unencumbered by philosophy or ideology" are staggering. The White House, Great Society, and Vietnam lie ahead when the main narrative closes in 1941, but the roots of Johnson's future achievements and tragic failures are laid bare. This biography may well stand as the best book written in the second half of the 20th century about personal ambition inextricably linked with historic change. --Wendy Smith

Book Description

This is the story of the rise to national power of a desperately poor young man from the Texas Hill Country. The Path to Power reveals in extraordinary detail the genesis of the almost superhuman drive, energy, and ambition that set LBJ apart. It follows him from the Hill Country to New Deal Washington, from his boyhood through the years of the Depression to his debut as Congressman, his heartbreaking defeat in his first race for the Senate, and his attainment, nonetheless, at age 31, of the national power for which he hungered. In this book, we are brought as close as we have ever been to a true perception of political genius and the American political process.

Means of Ascent, Book Two of The Years of Lyndon Johnson, was a number one national best seller and, like The Path to Power, received the National Book Critics Circle Award.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Get The Dirt On Lyndon.......2007-06-21

Robert Caro combines the skills of muckracker, tabloid journalist, and serious scholar to produce this magnificent volume. I read Means of Ascent 10 years ago and loved it, and Path to Power is even better.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing biography.......2007-05-10

Robert Caro's biography is one of the great series ever written. This first book looks at the things that shaped LBJ's early life. The first part is focused on the parents and grandparents of LBJ. The times growing up in Texas were very interesting to read about and while I was afraid this book would not be interesting I was proven wrong quickly. The hill country is a fascinating place and you can see the poverty that Texas experienced even before the depression. Most striking is Lyndon Johnson's childhood where he was an almost constant terror to his parents who loved him anyway. He would runaway constantly. After running away to California he came back and was involved in a series of local gangs and street races. His parents were finally able to talk some sense into him and he went to college
Lyndon Johnson continued his pompous attitude at college and was notable for creating the political scene at Southwest Texas teachers college. He was constantly in debt during his college years but played the political game well becoming friends with the president of the university and other top students. Although leaving college several times hew as able to thrive there. He was able to gain a job in Washington DC as a congressman's aide afterwards and built his power base.
Lyndon Johnson was an expert at the political game and he played it well in DC. This book categorizes his rise from congressman's aide to congressman in the 10th district. It shows how he built his network, worked with and against Sam Rayburn, FDR and his wife Lady Bird. Through it all he truly is shown as a manipulator and an expert political operator. He is morally reprehensible as a person throughout the entire book which was not something I expected to find. For a book about LBJ's early years this is absolutely amazing. It is so well written and you cannot wait to read what is in store next. I cannot wait to read the next three books in the series!

5 out of 5 stars Lyndon Johnson, Part 1.......2007-02-04

This is the second book by Robert Caro I've read, the other being Master of the Senate. Caro's work I'm sure is probably considered the most thorough and all-encompassing study on the life and career of Lyndon Johnson. Path to Power starts with the Bunton and Johnson families who moved to the Texas Hill Country. Caro's description of this region is impressive and very effective. Establishing this setting and its nature and its isolation, we get to learn about the early years of Lyndon Johnson. This book takes us up through 1941 when Johnson first ran (and lost) a race for the U.S. Senate.

It's the Hill Country that receives a lot of attention in the first part of the book, what the land was like, how people's hopes and fortunes could be broken by it, and so forth. The nature of the Bunton and Johnson family lines, i.e. their habits, their ambitions and how they lived off the land. Anyway, these early years of Lyndon Johnson and his family, with special focus on his father who was a well-respected public servant in the Texas Legislature, are all detailed.

The Lyndon Johnson that emerges from this book is nothing short of an attention seeking, power grabbing individual who would stop at nothing to achieve his goal. His way of courting and winning favor with older people, his political savvy that came into being at the Teachers' College at San Marcos, and so forth served as indicators of the sort of man that was developing. If his father was respected and known for his principles, the son would be known for his do and say anything approach to achieve power at a higher level. This is Caro's Johnson, maybe it's a bit rough and maybe too critical at times (though his interpretation could be head-on), but that's what you'll see in this book.

To mention some of the periods in Johnson's journey to position and power, we read of his years as a teacher and debate coach, his years as a Congressional secretary, Johnson's role in the New Deal years as state coordinator of the National Youth Administration, his run for and election to Congress, his money ties to influential businessmen and lobbyists and others who would provide huge sums of money (at that time) for Johnson's political ambitions and on and on. His political skills in cultivating relations with people in power was certainly notable and his knowledge and use of political tactics and maneuvering are amazing to read about.

The book culminates with his first run for a Texas U.S. Senate seat in 1941 upon the death of one of that state's sitting senators. This section of the book is utterly captivating in terms of the unfolding nature of the primary campaign, the characters involved, the voting fraud and its aftermath. Caro's work on the career and character study of Lyndon Johnson is an impressive body of work. His assessment of Johnson in this book is not flattering, though we do see the immense political skills possessed by this remarkably ambitious man who would indeed one day achieve the highest office.

5 out of 5 stars Dissecting The Bunton Strain .......2006-11-14

It's no accident that the first two books by Robert A. Caro have the word "Power" in the title. Power is what interests him, and in Lyndon Johnson, Caro has the perfect figure for analyzing how power is amassed and used within a democracy.

The first in a published trilogy extending to Johnson's election as Vice President in 1960, "Path To Power" presents Johnson as a skilled amasser and user of power for its own sake. No ideology bound him, no loyalty for God or man. He courted women based on their wealth and social standing, picked his associates by virtue of their acquiescence, and focused all his energy on personal glory.

There was something inside him, Caro explains, that made him hard, beyond his simple and needy upbringing in the Texas Hill Country. It had something to do with a family on his father's side named the Buntons, people so cold that when Lyndon was born, his grandmother, a Bunton, tried to dissuade her husband from visiting their grandchild, believing, as Caro puts it, that "charity begins at home."

Perhaps there was more to Johnson than such self-interest. If so, Caro doesn't say. Perhaps it comes out in later volumes, but it's clear here that Caro, for all his stellar, admiring prose of Johnson's rise, doesn't like the man. Fortunately, this wasn't so clear before the publication of "Path Of Power" in 1982, meaning that many of Johnson's closest friends and associates (including his widow Lady Bird) were willing to share honest insights about LBJ, who would have still been in his 60s at the time Caro began his research, just a year after the resignation of Johnson's successor as president.

Caro does write pointedly about Johnson, but not without a sense of dramatic purpose. In fact, there's a kind of grudging admiration in Caro's narrative for a man who toughed out every day of his life in such an uncompromising manner. Like many readers here, I was struck by how like Shakespeare's Richard III LBJ is portrayed, not only that he's so amoral but presented so that we half-root for him to get away with such tricks as masking himself as a New Deal liberal to get Franklin Roosevelt's ear and playing up to the paternal instincts of House Speaker Sam Rayburn, whom he then knifes.

Writing about his days at San Marcos Teachers College, where he transformed himself into a shadow leader with the help of a secret society, Caro writes: "He had won believing in nothing - without a reform he wanted to make, without a principle or issue about which he truly cared." Caro makes clear this didn't change at all when Johnson became a U.S. congressman, preferring to exercise his slick tongue in the cloakrooms and hallways rather than the House chamber itself, where entire years went by without him addressing his fellow Members from the floor.

Caro's take on Johnson makes "Path Of Power" entertaining, but it's his broader view of the times LBJ lived that makes the book so compelling beyond the bounds of traditional biography. There are so many layers in Caro's narrative, such as the hard lives women led in central Texas during the Depression, various colorful Texas politicians LBJ aligned himself with or against, and the often underhanded way business and politics came together in the early 20th century.

Is it unfair? Caro does dwell on the negative, and ignores at least in this volume the possibility Johnson had some redeeming qualities beyond his professional abilities. But that may have been a function of Johnson's growing as life went on; it's clear that he was a sneaky, ruthless, miserable character in his early days chronicled here. A couple of his underlings, though still devoted, have to excuse themselves to regain their composure as they recount their boss's hard ways.

There are bios that connect the dots but bore you silly, others that use lives as platforms for wowing you with the author's eloquence. Caro writes masterfully but keeps your focus securely on the story and the real-life history behind it, making you feel like a passenger on Johnson's amazing journey. Even the footnotes are captivating. You will be surprised how quick a read 800 pages can be.

4 out of 5 stars Hissstorical.......2006-11-10

Very comprehensive, informative and historical read. Although I was looking for a book that got right into the life of LBJ, this book historically sets you up for the fashioning of the larger than life persona-- LBJ. You will also need to set aside time to digest, not a quick read, albeit engaging.

5 out of 5 stars There's a reason why its still around after almost 20 years..........2007-08-29

I believe that more people, witches or not, should read this book. I just got it the other day (finally!) and haven't been able to put it down. It is extremely informative and historically accurate, and the facts are still being shown as true, even though it came out in the late 80s (which is pretty awesome). This is a great book to give to someone in your family who doesn't "agree" with your religious choice so that they can see, like the Christian did in the first page of the book, what witchcraft really is all about (nothing sinister).

I think the only thing I disagreed with Ms Cabot about was her statement of wearing her "traditional" black Witch robes. I don't know if those were ever really "traditional" per say, but I suppose they make for a great conversation starter around Salem.

5 out of 5 stars One of my Favorites.......2007-04-01

In my Wiccan library of nearly 100 titles, this is definitely one of my favorites. Ms. Cabot is knowledgeable, traditional and sometimes downright humorous. I can see why so many still come to her for training.
As a forty-something practicing Witch, I have read many of the Wiccan authors out there today. Laurie Cabot is certainly not one to be missed, and this is my favorite title by her.

5 out of 5 stars The Power of Laurie Cabot!.......2007-01-29

Well written, easy and very practical guide to Witchcraft. Cabot is highly respected in her community and is not 'new' to the growing religion of Witchcraft. In this book, she helps explain without pomp and complexity how to add magic and witchcraft into "EVERYDAY" life without it costing you a fortune in unnecessary items. This was the first book I had read on Witchcraft well over 10 years ago and it still stands above the rest. Cabot is the only female writer of Witchcraft that deserves praise above and beyond her male contemporaries. She doesn't just put pen to paper to make a few $$$, she very much lives the lifestyle, works extensively to dispel the myths surrounding the practice of Witchcraft, works tirelessly for better understanding and rights for those that do practice Witchcraft, Paganism & Wicca. She also explains well how one can be Christian AND practice this noble and ancient religion, it will certainly surprise you! If you are serious about understanding Witchcraft but not sure where to start - this book should be the first on the subject in your library!

5 out of 5 stars Required Reading.......2007-01-13

This book is a MUST. It grounds Witchcraft in both Science AND Image-ination, a balance absolutely necessary for anyone practicing the Magickal Arts. From there on it's up to you, but this book is one of the best ways to start.

1 out of 5 stars Almost harmful.......2006-01-02

This has to be one of the worst books on any form of Witchcraft I've read in a long time. It's bad enough the amount of fluff out there supporting Wicca as the only way for modren witches, but this book has too many harmful ideas to be believed or even to be recommended. Is it a new thing to quote long passages and base a tremendous portion of ones ideas on certain passages and books and not to even give the original authors etc. credit? Many times, Cabot quotes things or references an idea from somewhere, without ever stating were that somewhere is. And with as many unfounded claims and ideas that this woman has, one would really like to know where they're coming from. To not cite, makes me think that she's just creating half this stuff.

The ideas, especially at the front half of the book are harmful to many would-be's. Don't read this book! I got it used and it was still a waste of money. It's not going to help you with anything, and may even cloud your mind with unfounded ideas, such as women where the sole inventors of language. Give me a break.

Stay away from this book! Even McCoy is better then this dribble. But what can one expect from a woman who runs around in goth, calling it traditinal witch wear. I really feel for her family, espcecially her kids.

5 out of 5 stars This book changed my life..........2006-04-19

I first read this book about 5 years ago. At the time I had no idea that it would have such a dramatic effect on me. Currently, I am on my 2nd copy and will probably order a 3rd soon. (just to be sure). I cant imagine life without this book to reference, espechially when times are tough. Once, when someone asked me what 3 things I would bring to a deserted island, ( Im sure youre all familiar with that question)--this book was one of the 3 things. I have trained myself to pick up this book anytime I find myself being tossed around by any difficulty I might find myself in. I can open it to any page, and there I find helpful advice on ANY problem. Not only wisdom but Truthful, honest solutions and to every problem that has ever been known to man. All the answers are contained in its pages, and I know they are all the answers that I will ever need.

5 out of 5 stars Mystic Path to Cosmic Power.......2006-03-03

Mystic Path to Cosmic Power by Vernon Howard is a perfect book. It was written by an awakened man and it explains in clear language the way to become awakened. I attended classes and personally met this man and he embodied everything he taught about awakedness. He spoke clearly and directly to the ignorance that enslaved me and called it out for me to observe, and in that observation, I have seen freedom. There's nothing to "do" to awaken. There is something to see. Vernon Howard explains the darkness so perfectly that light becomes apparent. He was teaching these truths before so many others, yet his words are still the purest. If you are suffering, you need this book. Vernon will show you why you suffer and how to leave that suffering behind. Whether you suffer from guilt, loss, fear, jealousy, anger, or anything else, he will show you the thought patterns that have created that suffering and how those thought patterns can be seen through and risen above. Before I read Vernon's work I was depressed and hostile. His teachings have released me from this painful way of living. He can do the same for you.

5 out of 5 stars Timeless Wisdom of the Ages.......2006-01-26

Of the thousands of books I have read over the years _The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power_ has been by far the most important, at least on a personal level. When I first read it - I came across it by chance - I felt a rather strange but pleasant emotion of inner freedom and release. Now I turn to this book whenever I feel anxious or oppressed and the weight just falls from my shoulders. Vernon presents some of the greatest spiritual truths of the ages in very clear language, without dogma, jargon, psychobabble or new age fluff. The 'cosmic power' he talks about is about peace and clarity of mind, about realisation of one's true self by breaking free from the conditioned ego or social self that we normally live from. Through the ages there have been a small number of men and women who knew Truth and Vernon was one of them. Read this book and find out for yourself. jonathancolman@hotmail.com

4 out of 5 stars Mystical Read........2004-08-02

The mystic path has never been so simplistically put into words. The wisdom of mysticism is hardily the best philosophy to explicate into tangible, solid practices. The nature of Howard's parables teach truths otherwise missed in daily life. The book hits on key events of typical life as seem from the eyes of mundane trivialities, though later boarders on the line of cultism. I must stress that this book reads well, as it's beautifully narrated through format and relevance. The end of the book leaves the reader with tough choices, being that the book easily compels the reader to 'act' by quickly adopting many of the advice scattered through the chapters, the final step might be beyond the realm of possibility for most. Whether you choose to fully implement your Cosmic Power into your everyday life and seek to conglomerate with others of the same 'mystic level', or extract key concepts in which you will utilize for selfish purposes, The Mystic Path to Cosmic Power will get you there.

    Book Description

Nexus offers an engaging and insightful journey of an odd mix of people drawn together to a spiritual retreat to overcome personal pain. This book will please readers of spiritual, new age, inspirational, self-help and visionary fiction books. It weaves insights within the narrative like The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield and The Peaceful Warrior series by Dan Millman.

Starting with a dramatic suicide scene through intimate details of the struggle of Logan Andrews with depression and despair, we are brought on a journey of inner struggle and personal transformation. The reader is transported to a spiritual retreat where the experiences of people at the retreat provide illuminating life lessons. The tone of book creates an authentic journey that is both exploratory and insightful.

The overriding theme in Nexus is mystical in its nature, narrating experiences of deeper connection felt with one another and all of life. This is poignantly highlighted in key passages, including Logan's empathy for a dying fish in Chapter 6.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Need for Spiritual Change.......2007-07-01

I've read many spiritual books and this one really spoke to me with a story that communicated about both the highs and lows of spiritual life through the touching journey of people at a retreat center. Each person in the story is dealing with their own sorrow from the depression-despair of Logan, Sarah's loss of direction and Muriel's desire to be comforted in her old age. Steven is fixated on his money-making schemes and in order for him to experience growth, he needs to connect to the path of love.

The story speaks of something deeper - a need for spiritual change. It isn't always stated on the surface and you have to dig deeper to recognize that as the central theme of this book. Yet you feel this impulse motivating the communication between teachers and students at the retreat center and the experiences there allude to a deeper bond - to the Nexus that connects us all through our heart where empathy and compassion can grow with experiences of our Oneness. The compassion Logan shows for a dying fish vividly captures this theme. This vision of non-duality is always there beneath the surface though our ego stands in the way of its realization.

The message in this book is beautiful and so I want others to know about it. Through spiritual books like this, we can delve into consciousness transformation and share it with others.

    1 out of 5 stars Really Bad. Don't Buy.......2007-06-30

I made the mistake of purchasing this book because it was referenced in a review for The Road (an amazing fiction currently on the best seller list). Now I realize I was probably led into buying it by one of the authors' friends or supporters. The 5 star reviews are bias, to say the least! The dialogue is beyond bad. It is stilted and at times downright silly. I love top quality spiritual writings like "The Power of Now" by E. Tolle or the writings of D. Chopra. It's not that I am spiritually closed, I just know very bad writing when I see it.
This "fiction" is an attempt to flesh out the spiritual teachings of the two authors through poorly crafted, one dimensional characters. I would rather drink flax oil and fast for a week to better my soul than read this kind of stuff. I anticipate receiving some unsupportive votes for this review, and these will likely come from the friends of the authors who have written the 5 star reviews. So be it. I'd rather be honest and save the potential Amazon customer some money!

    5 out of 5 stars Thought Provoking.......2007-05-30

NEXUS is an absorbing guide to the dazzling universe of spirituality! Written in the appealing genre of a new age novel I found NEXUS to be a remarkable psychological and spiritual adventure filled with mystery, enchantment, romance, insights, as well as being highly realistic in terms of life's joys and sorrows. I just couldn't put the book down!!!

The diverse assortment of characters were realistic, and the plot was deep, lively and fast paced throughout. NEXUS WORKED AT VERY DEEP LEVELS OF MY MIND TO PENETRATE MY SUBCONSCIOUS AND TO EXPAND AND INSPIRE MY SUPERCONSCIOUS MIND. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE!!!

By carefully reading NEXUS and reflecting on the philosophical insights inherent throughout the book I found that I could tap into my deepest inner centre of being- my inner source of strength, wisdom and compassion...what a discovery!!!

I heard about NEXUS from a friend and that is why I bought the book. I told another friend about NEXUS but she had already just finished reading it and was most impressed.

It seems that people everywhere are suddenly experiencing an intense attraction to NEXUS, one of the most valuable books I've read in a long time.

Another new age novel that I highly recommend is The Saint, the Surfer, and the CEO: A Remarkable Story About Living Your Heart's Desires

    5 out of 5 stars Spiritually Uplifting.......2007-05-21

Every once in a while you come across a book that resonates at a deeper soulful level. "Nexus: A Neo Novel" is one of those books that touches you through a spiritual journey of transformation of people in the book. Their transformation is an inner one at the level of their heart and psyche.

For Logan Andrews the transformation requires that he move from negative thoughts and emotions to positive ones. This task is fraught with difficulties, since even at a spiritual retreat intended to help people find the centre of their being called the Nexus, Logan is confronted with his greatest loss as he meets his ex, Sarah.

I really liked the sub-plot with Steven, an arrogant millionaire, who at first is irritating but in time he grows on you and becomes an endearing person. Steven believes that money is the answer to life's problems but has he lost his way?

Even though the writers of "Nexus" have their own unique voice, still this book reminds me of other visionary writers like James Redfield, Carlos Castaneda and Dan Millman. I highly recommend "Nexus" as a deeply moving experience of personal transformation whose message spiritual readers will most appreciate.

    5 out of 5 stars Powerful Insights.......2007-04-23

The appeal of "Nexus" lies in an original story that is fast-paced and chock-full of powerful insights. This book is about transformation as an organic process.

The novel is unique as a collaborative effort by two authors who have successfully integrated their writing into an inspiring narrative. This book explores the ups and downs of spiritual life through the journey of people at a spiritual retreat and we can relate their experiences to our own life.

I love this book for its piercing insights and a memorable soulful journey. "Nexus" reminds me of books like "The Celestine Prophecy," "The Life of Pi" and "The Alchemist" - some other books that I've enjoyed reading.

5 out of 5 stars RPG in the old style .......2007-07-27

I found Fire Emblem to embody a lot of what the early RPG's great, strong plot with likeable characters and smooth linear storyline. I liked how you could recruit people as you went along and losing them for good if they died added a new dimesion of strategy and realism to this title.

4 out of 5 stars Good Guide for an Amazing Game.......2006-12-25

I know this bit belongs more in a review about the game itself than its guide book, but I simply must say Fire Emblem is one of the best titles I've ever played. It's easy to pick up and completely addicting.

The guidebook itself is very helpful, although not altogether necessary. Afterall, because there is so much chance in the game it's impossible for the book to give you step-by-step instructions to clear the chapter. Instead, in this area it only gives you general strategy ideas (i.e., split into three groups and take out points A, B, and C before heading to D), which often times is common sense (no matter what your strategic skill is- mine for one is practically non-existent). It also gives you the stats of all the enemies you'll face (which you can do in-game, although it's often not necessary anyway), and when/where reinforcements come in (THAT is the most helpful bit). Overall, strategy wise the book gives you a few general ideas (only spending two pages per chapter) but leaves much of the execution on you. Knowing of the various traps and when certain things are triggered in the chapter is quite helpful, though.

One of the things I found most useful was the info on how to recruit more characters. Some of the new recruits I could figure out through the game alone and a stretch of imagination, but others I swear I wouldn't have ever thought of without this book (and for me, those other characters ended up being my strongest).

The other thing I found amazingly helpful was the section on character conversations. It goes into detail of each characters strengths, and what will happen if certain characters talk to each other for long enough (attribute buffs, combo attacks...) those things I wouldn't have found out easily on my own.

In all, this book is worth getting. Although a lot of it you may not find too helpful (such as its rather general strategy suggestions), you will appreciate the sections on new recruits and inter-character relations.

5 out of 5 stars This game rocks!.......2006-06-26

The first ever fire emblem game I played was "fire emblem" for GBA. I was instantly hooked. if you have ever played a fire emblem game, I believe you will like this game. If you haven't, you will if you like RPG and Strategy games. The story of the game is well writen and is very interesting as well as the gameplay. some of the levels may make you want to throw your system out the window but you can get past them if you try. I beleve this to be the best fire emblem game yet.

    5 out of 5 stars Awesome!!!!!.......2005-11-11

This book is the most helpful thing on the game. The game itself is awesome.

This is a Highly practical fascinating book for a true spiritual seeker who wants to improve up on themselves. Even though this seems to be based on the eastern religious text, very good inspiring book. Every time I read, I find some thing more that inspires me to Love.

5 out of 5 stars Gentle and Eye Opening..........2002-06-30

Deepak Chopra has a very gentle and lovely writing style. He's a great teacher who has helped me to see the simplicities of soul beyond the complexities of character. This book has helped to make me a more gentle, conscious, responsible contributor in my relationship with my significant other. Love is the all.

5 out of 5 stars Well worth it!.......2001-09-14

I purchased this book as a Christmas gift to myself in 2000. I began reading it in January of 2001 and this year has been my best and most rewarding year. I read this book and was able to internalize every insight. I now understand what REAL LOVE is. In this book, Deepak Chopra makes it a no-brainer decision to incorporate love and truth in my daily life.

2 out of 5 stars Mind spirit and god.......2000-04-22

Deepak Chopra's presentations on mind, soul and god are abstract , confused technically and practically incorrect . His contributions on above subjects are invariably taken from India's ancient texts :Vedas which in actuality also contain the theoretical details of attaining the SUPREME BLISS (GOD as we all call him) during the course of meditation on the campus of Sadguru ( the DIVINE PREACHER ) who used to impart Brahma Gyan ( Realisation of Supreme Being.) I am shocked to hear Dr Chopra talking frequently about Mind,Soul and God so confidently without thinking an iota about the subtleness of mind, soul. Can Dr Chopra tell me the origin of mind in human body ? where is the point in the body where it rests/remains quiet ?what is the technique to quieten the mind ? How to control the mind when our eyes are opened and how to quieten it.where mind stays with pran ( life forces ) when it rests ? what is soul, how does it look like and where it is situated in the body ? and lastly what exactly connects the soul and the Supreme being ? There is a very subtle device which is visible if you practice meditation under Sadguru ( DIVINE Preacher) who has that divine power to quieten the mind to the point of its origin.Merely talking and giving jargonised lectures does not lead one anywhere about mind soul and Supreme being. Vihangam Yoga is the only kind of Brahma gyan meditation where these concepts are experienced in practicality by the practitioners during the course of Meditation.Any other effort to know these concepts is merely adding few more pages to the discussion. Remember God is not a subject of discussion like anyother topic,he is the one to be experienced within yourself, provided you have found the SADGURU ,who is only one on this planet . aksinha@gems.vsnl.net.in
