Breaking the Curse.......2007-09-17
Breaking the Curse of Willie Lynch is a profoundly insightful book. It is evident that a significant amount of research was done in preparation of this writing. I was in awe at how Mr. Alvin Morrow incorporated not only history but science nutrition and spiritually in the development and breaking of slavery. I have recommended this book to so many of my peers and look forward to ordering more copies for African-American children in the public school system. Too many Black and White children are unaware of the "true" history of this country and the causes and effects of slavery. I think this book would create at the least curiosity in the minds of any individual willing to learn more about the damage of slavery.
It's Still Working.......2007-05-13
The Willie Lynch method of controlling your slave: turn the old against the young, the light against the dark the male against the female and cause them to believe that you (the master) hold the key to their happiness. This science worked three hundred years ago and still works today. Fortunately more of the affected group are becoming enlighted and no longer believing in the science of slave psychology. But some have not seen the light. They do not read and do not listen. I wish that everybody no matter the ethnic identification will read this book. I believe this knowledge will help bring unity.
BREAKING THE CURSE OF WILLIE LYNCH.......2007-02-22
THIS BOOK LITERALLY CHANGED THE WAY A THOUGHT ABOUT EVERYTHING IN THIS COUNTRY. ALL BLACK PEOPLE IN THIS COUNTRY SUFFER FROM CURSE OF WILLIE LYNCH. HE DEVELOPED A PLAN TO CONTROL ALL BLACK PEOPLE FOR OVER 300 YEARS AND IT HAS BEEN A SUCCESS. WE STILL ARE CONTROLLED BY THIS CURSE AND MANY BLACK PEOPLE DON'T EVEN REALIZE IT. PLEASE GET INFORMED ON WHAT HAS TAKEN PLACE IN HISTORY AND ALWAYS BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON NOW IN THE 21ST CENTURY. SLAVEERY IS STILL GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY, BUT NOW IT IS MORE MENTAL THAN PHYSICAL. WE HAVE BEEN TAUGHT TO HATE OURSELVES AND SETTLE FOR LESS ON EVERY ENDEAVOR IN LIFE. BLACK PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.. THIS IS NOT BY ACCIDENT OR BY MISTAKE. THIS IS THE WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY AND WE ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO CAN CHANGE IT BY BEING EDUCATIONED AND GOING TO COLLEGE. THE AUTHOR OF THIS BOOK REALLY DID HIS HOMEWORK BECAUSE THE BOOK IS A STEP BY STEP METHOD OF CONTROL THAT WILLIE LYNCH DESIGNED HIMSELF. THE SAD THING ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THAT IT IS ALL TRUE AND IT STILL IS IN PRACTICE TODAY.
Removing the blinders.......2007-01-11
This is an excellent book, if you want to understand the terrible system
of slavery, and it's present day ramifications this is a must read book.

C&B Reviewer Tanya Bates - .......2006-05-28
Alvin Morrow explains the methods of the Willie Lynch Letter in terms that anyone can understand. The ability to break down these effects are uncanning. With each new chapter, Black men and women are able to see how these brutal mental conditioning methods first used in slavery, affect each Black person today. Also, honest solutions are provided to promote unity, allow for healing, and ultimately freedom from these damaging mentalities.

Customer Reviews:
Slavery and aftermath was certainly real..........2007-08-09
I read this little book a while ago back when I was about 18-19 yrs old. It was very powerful and thought-provoking that such a plan could be conceived and carried out. But then again, Willie Lynch was not the first white person of tha time to come up with a plan to enslave blacks, both physically and mentally. Up until that point, I thought that if I just got my degree, got a job, and stayed out of trouble, everything would be ok (being a good NEGRO). Of course now I am more conscious about African studies.
I was a bit troubled when before writing this review a couple of reviews that stated. I looked also at a wikipedia article that also mentioned that the actual letter itself may have been an internet hoax. I immediately went back to the pamphlet, which I still have, to see for myself. Now I did notice that the pamphlet is broken into about 5 main parts:
1) Introduction by Mr. Hassan-EL. (with references)
2) William Lynch letter (no reference)
3) Commentary on on Let's Make a Slave
4) Food for Thought from the Internet
5) Short attribute to Africans in America sailors
Now I was disappointed that the author didn't reference the letter itself other than to mention that the letter was "Editor's repeat: This speech was delivered by a white slave owner, William Lynch, on the banks of James River in 1712." The argument is whether or not this letter/speech actually took place. The author doesn't cite where he found the letter or got the information of the letter. I did try to contact Lushena Books, and I was unsuccessful in reaching them for comment. In other words, I couldn't verify from the source that the letter/speech part of the pamplet was true or fiction. So I gave the review 4 stars. And it the letter was in fact a forgery, then it deserves even less stars. I do agree that it is important to make sure that when we bring facts to the table that they are actual facts (either based on experience or documented facts).
So maybe there was no person named Willie Lynch or it was a pen name. Maybe the speech didn't take place in 1712. But what was described in the letter was certainly real. Pitting the 'house negro' against the 'field negro'. One good example of this was rewarding 'good slaves' for turning in runaways or revolters with either lighter work, monetary cashout, or even freed status.
What I will do is attempt to gather actual names of people (besides the common names Christopher Columbus, Sir John Hawkins, George Washington, etc.) who conspired to enslave, murder, rape, etc Africans and Native Americans for their own financial or political gain from the before the 1800s. (Well I guess that would be a lot of people, eh?) Specifically those with a written or spoken plan against the Natives and Africans in America. Then I will revise this review :)
Willie Lynch Letter.......2007-03-14
The Willie Lynch letter is an interesting dig into the psychological control of slaves by slave masters. I am not sure of the validity of this letter, but it is an important part of studying American slavery. The book is a short read that can be easily read in one short sitting.
Willie Lynch letter/the making of a slave.......2007-01-12
Very important to the education of all. Willie Lynch letter has been questionned as to its actual authenticy, but no matter because the content is historically correct and the attitudes remain to this day. That is unfortunate, however, it's value to all Americans changing their attitudes and behaviour have great global implications.
A Must Read.......2006-08-20
This book should bread by every young black male in the United States. Some have proclaimed that it is false but the information is essential to the growth of black males. It sheds light on some of the condition that we face in this country.
Ignorance of the Truth in History is Everyone's Problem.......2006-06-04
First, to Andre M. "brnn64" - - your response was a result of not reading and knowing your history. And, to to all the others who described this as "Fiction", and/or recently written. This material was a "manual" - - a guide actually used by Southerners to learn how to handle their slaves. It may be one of the reasons why slavery lasted as long as it did, and why so much of the same attitudes prevail today. Unfortunately, I have heard many whites say "why should I be penalized for something my ancestors did back then - - well, the answer to that is that "you are still reaping and enjoying the benefits of what your ancestors did back then. AND - - they are ancestors to us all - - with the racial mixing which resulted - - making us all related to each other in some way. But that is another issue.
Some"smart" caucasian thought he was an expert in breaking slaves and thus, wrote his "letter" to other slave owners as an instruction manual. Since we live what we learn - - we have two forms of this mentality present today - - the mental conditioning that has spread in the African American community generationally today that makes us think blacks are not as smart as the white person - that whites are smarter, better, superior, etc. On the other hand, the mental conditioning has spread in the white community generationally, that blacks are dumber, slower, inferior.
The letter gave specific instructions on the process to use, with the major one still affecting our educational systems now - - that if you keep blacks uneducated, you keep the control. Unfortunately, this has backfired, and being uneducated affects everyone.
The overriding factor in this situation is that all of us should look at this document as an example of what we want to get away from, what we want never to happen again - - so that documents like this one can become fiction - - only written in someone's imagination, and not become a reality.
Book Description
At last-a proven system for developing the strategic innovations every company needs to compete and win
As everyone knows, today's unprecedented rate of business change demands new levels of strategic insight and adaptability. Reinventing Strategy is the first practical, systematic guide to creating an adaptive enterprise, showing how companies around the world are using the Strategic Learning approach to consistently out think, out maneuver, and out perform their competition. As Willie Pietersen explains, companies that aspire to long-term success must develop and implement strategy as part of a continuous four-step cycle-Learn, Focus, Align, Execute-and he offers dozens of provocative anecdotes and case studies, illustrating how to implement it at every level of an organization. Written with unusual clarity, frankness, and wit, Reinventing Strategy will change the way managers everywhere approach their greatest and most important challenge: the need to make strategy into a tool for ongoing corporate renewal.
Customer Reviews:
Great book.......2005-02-13
I am an executive coach and a former management consultant, so that business strategy is one of my interests. I have found this book by chance browsing on Amazon.
This is a book I have loved. It is an outstanding synthesis of what is business strategy nowdays. The author wonderfully combines a solid theoretical framework (he is a professor at Columbia University now) with a very practical approach (he has been running a company as CEO beforehand and it definitely shows!). It is very well structured, down to earth, straightforward and still accurate and full of in-depth reflections. It is a rare demonstration (especially in business literature) that a book can be essential and to the point, without boring repetitions (typical in business books). It shows there is a real understanding and mastery of the subject matter.
A serious business book written with both the head and the heart. Thank you Mr Pietersen!
Willie Pietersen gives us great strategy AND great practice.......2002-05-05
Willie Pietersen's Reinventing Strategy contains the basics of strategy, i.e., how to win, how to align the organization behind the chosen strategies, how to be sure that superior insights drive the strategic process. If that alone were his contribution, this book would be a significant contribution to the strategy literature.
But Pietersen goes much further than that. He shows us how, exactly, to develop these strategies, how he himself developed such strategies and what he learned about leadership in the process.
This book is about strategy, implementation and one man's journey as a leader and life-long learner. The result is an immensely human business book. The singular voice of the author comes through with clarity and humility. I know of no other business book that combines theory and practice with such a strongly personal view. Pietersen talks about the value of developing a leadership credo in his book. This book is, in essence, his own credo from a lifetime of leading and learning.
Every Manager Should Read This Book.......2002-04-20
I am VP at a large consumer products company in Ohio and I found this book very insightful in the areas of creating strategy and leadership. I read a lot of business books and most are very slight in what they have to offer -- a few thoughts, old stories or worn out sayings. However, "Reinventing Strategy" is a real how-to-book and goes through running a successful business step-by-step. This book will definitely help my division be more profitable! In fact, I would love to go and take one of Prof. Pietersen's courses at Columbia University.
A survival guide for business.......2002-04-18
Willie Pietersen has managed to pull together what's really important to achieve breakthrough performance. He's done this by telling clearly and convincingly the lessons learned from his years as a chief executive, but explained them from his new role as a Professor of the Practice of Management at the Columbia Business School. I've had the personal pleasure of watching Pietersen in action with business leaders from around the world who have participated in Columbia's Executive Education programs. The overriding comment from these executives is "this guy makes sense and has shown we how to face up to the challenges to my business' survival." Reinventing Strategy: Using Strategic Learning to Create and Sustain Breakthrough Performance is the next best thing to the live program.
If you want to move from Strategy theory to action and have your business survive in the process, read this book.

Business strategy as it should be written.......2002-04-17
Here is book that takes a practical look at business strategy and helps the business person to streamline his/her thinking.
Written in Willie Pietersens highly readable style,it has heft as well as humor, theory as well as practical examples. Oh that our Business School text books had been written thus!
I would recommend this book to anyone who sells anything.
Read the introductory chapters, grasp Pietersen's premise then go to any of the rich chapters. Concepts are clearly tagged, each making for a delicious informational meal that forces reflection.

Book Description
National icon Willie Nelson has evolved over the years from country music outlaw swimming against a Whiskey River to a Zen-like figure of wisdom and contentment. In this autobiographical collection of life advice, The Tao of Willie, one of America's truest hearts reveals the spiritual and practical lessons learned from decades of hard knocks and good bounces.
This inspiring and entertaining collection of "Willie wisdom" takes us from his days as a young boy in Texas where he learns to respect his elders, to his roadhouse days when he united redneck rockers, long-haired hippies and straight-laced country music fans, to the mega-sized benefit concerts and environmentalism that define his boundless heart. And there are plenty of his favorite jokes along the way.
With stories that will both make you laugh out loud and look deep inside yourself, he shows us how the Willie way and the way of the Tao can also be your way. Let Willie's common sense approach to life awaken you to the happiness that already exists in your own heart. With Willie as your guide, join the river of life and you'll be carried on an amazing journey.

Backstage with Willie.......2007-09-11
I deployed to Afghanistan in May 2006. The morning of my departure, I received a phone call from both of the authors of this book. Willie and Turk wished me luck and a safe return on my journey. It was a memory that has been with me ever since. Just this past week, I had the fortune of getting to see Willie Nelson in concert (The Last of Breed Tour) for the first time in my 33 years. It was an amazing show and I also had the pleasure of meeting him backstage as he proceeded to the stage to perform with Merle Haggard and Ray Price. What an experience!
While on deployment I was able to read this book. There is little happiness in Afghanistan these days. But every night prior to lights out, I could always count on a smile and a reflection of my life through the words in this book. It was a pleasure to read.
To Willie and Turk...Thank you!
THE TAO OF WILLIE: A GUIDE TO THE HAPPINESS IN YOUR HEART.......2007-08-31
I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED THIS BOOK AND AM AMAZED AT THE WISDOM OF WILLIE. HE HAS CAPTURED GREAT DEPTH IN HIS INTERPRETATION OF THE TAO AND OFFERS IT IN SUCH A WILLIE-READABLE MANNER. THIS BOOK IS A TRUE JOY. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED TO EVERYONE.
Product review.......2007-08-16
Book in pretty good condition but did have an inscription I was not aware of. Over all it was okay.
Fun to Read.......2007-02-13
This book is so much fun to read. Willie is such a wise man and has some great advice in this book. I would definitely recommend!
Delightful.......2007-01-06
I am a university professor and read many books, but I have not enjoyed a book this much for quite some time. It is a laugh out loud, down to earth book that brings one back to reality while having fun doing it. I put this book on my "read once a year" shelf, and sent copies to others. A quick read, and well worth it! Thanks for the good time, Willie.
Book Description
If you had to give America a voice, it’s been said more than once, that voice would be Willie Nelson’s. For more than fifty years, he’s taken the stuff of his life-the good and the bad-and made from it a body of work that has become a permanent part of our musical heritage and kept us company through the good and the bad of our own lives. Long before he became famous as a performer, Willie Nelson was known as a songwriter, keeping his young family afloat by writing songs-like “Crazy”-that other people turned into hits.
So it’s fitting, and cause for celebration, that he has finally set down in his own words, a book that does justice to his great gifts as a storyteller. In
The Facts of Life, Willie Nelson reflects on what has mattered to him in life and what hasn’t. He also tells some great dirty jokes. The result is a book as wise and hilarious as its author. It’s not meant to be taken seriously as an instruction manual for living-but you could do a lot worse.

Interesting insights.......2006-08-14
This is an easy summer read that offers some unique insights into the mind of the legendary Willie Nelson. It has a lot of song lyrics, a few jokes and lots of personal anecdotes from his life on the road. It's not great literature, but it's fun and, what the heck, Willie needs the money!
Yuck.......2006-01-10
Willie Nelson Should stick with singing and thats that. I Did not find this book enjoable at all I do not recomend it at all.
If you liked this book check out all of Willie Nelson's, Books, Music & Movies.
"If you ain't crazy, there's something wrong with you.".......2004-10-09
If you pick up this book and thumb through it quickly, you may pass it up.If so, you'll make a big mistake.
I've read Willie with Bud Shrake and Willie-Behind the Music,by Clint Richmond;both excellent books;butthis is a great update and different book by and about Willie. This book is a real fun read, especially if you've been a fan of Willie for a long time like I have.;for nearly 40 years.
Reading this book is like sitting around with Willie chewing the fat. He talks directly to the reader as if you were his friend;and who wouldn't want to be one? On second thought, it is a lot easier to read and listen to Willie than trying to travel with him. Most couldn't last a week, and I must admit,me included.
The style of this book would be a good pattern for others to follow. He breaks it up with experiences and jokes. After all, really Willie just enjoys life and wishes the same for everyone else;except maybe for the IRS.The abundant photos are excellent and appreciated.
I particularly enjoyed Willie's comments about Ray Price, another legend, when he said:
"Ray Price is the greatest country singer ever, period." That's an real tribute coming from someone of the stature of Willie. It says a lot for Ray,and even more for Willie.
This book also contains a lot of Texas common sense, such as:
"There must be a better way to start the day than getting up."
"Hell, what's wrong with being lazy sometimes?"
"It's almost April 15,don't forget o file your toenails by midnight"
"Remember the early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese."
"No good deed goes undone."
Great compasses to guide you.
Willie has shown he can be a great writer. If you've ever doubted how talented Willie really is,try to think of a writer who can write songs and play them like Willie does.
Hope you enjoy as much as I did!
Willie can do no wrong, but this is close........2004-08-17
First, let me state emphatically that I am a huge Willie Nelson fan. He is, by far, my favorite recording artist and I have seen him in concert three times. That said, there is not much in this book to recommend it. There are a few very funny jokes, although not that dirty. There are dozens of simple, yet profound, song lyrics, mostly of his lesser known works. As a reader, I would have preferred to hear Willie sing them. Willie tells you he is in favor of the family farm, God, marijuana, less government. He is against smoking. He plays golf and jogs. Everybody seems to be his best friend. But, if you are a Willie fan, you already know that. And there's the problem. I didn't read anything about him I didn't already know. Damn, I wish he would really get serious about writing an autobiography. There is so much I would love to learn about Willie, but it's not here. Save your money and buy another Willie CD.
He can do better.......2003-12-19
Willie Nelson is a great performer, a talented singer and guitarist, a decent actor, and one of the best songwriters this nation has ever produced.
If he really tried, I'm sure he could write a pretty good book, too.
On this one, he didn't try. Just a series of disjointed, low-class, rambling tales. If this is the real Willie Nelson, we've been had.
Book Description
This is the Second Edition (Revised & Enlarged) of a work that was originally published in 1974 (144 pages, cloth) and sold over 26,000 copies in the US alone. It was translated into French, German and Italian, and was also made into a movie, THE PERILS OF GWENDOLINE (1984, directed by Just Jaeckin).
This revised edition was published on December 9, 1999, the birthday of `John Willie`, as well as the twenty-fifth anniversary of the publication of the first edition. It contains 368 pages, which includes a wealth of previously unpublished and uncollected work by the artist. Also included in this expanded edition are 36 black and white reproductions of drawings and paintings (circa 1935-50), most from original artwork and all but 2 have never been published before. Along with the black and white illustrations are an equal number of full-color pages many of which are previously unpublished. The biographical introduction has been expanded to include much new information about J.W. - including 4 previously unpublished photographs of the artist!
Customer Reviews:
A beautiful, beautiful volume.......2002-03-21
If you have the Taschen reprints of the collected Bizarre magazines and are wondering about this book - as I was - don't worry. This book is almost all different material, a good portion of it previously unpublished, and the quality of the edition is high enough to make it a keepsake in anyone's library. John Willie was, without equivocation, the master of genteel fetish art, technically beautiful illustrations of gorgeous women simultaneously in formal attire and bondage. If it sounds quirky, it is, and it is that quirkiness married to Willie's technical prowess and self-restraint which makes this collection as intriguing - and engaging - as it is. There is no sex here, and no full nudity. If you've never seen this work, imagine a Vargas or Elvgren print but with the pretty girl not smiling, but bound somehow or being costumed and you begin to get an idea of what John Willie was doing with his illustrative life.
BUT - just imagining these images does them no justice. Willie never used any 'dirty' words, and his characters are styled after 1930's and '40 serial digest types, even as his work moved into the 1960's. The overall effect is that of a fully conceived world, a complete universe of Willie's - and ours, as the readers - shared neurosis, of our fully realized but morally checked 'fun and nonsense' (Willie's words, not mine).
I am enamoured of this work. It is aesthectically beautiful, it is emotionally engaging, it is affectionate and ironic all at the same time. Where Bizarre magazine left off this volume continues, and where Bizarre is a rememberance this volume is better described as a tribute.
And a more fitting tribute could not be produced. This is an oversized hardcover, cloth bound and with a cloth bookmark - the binding and cover are both very well made, obviously a labor of publishing love. The paper stock is very thick (unlike the Taschen Bizarre collection) and acid-free. The cover of this book is stunning, and even from the spine a beautiful illustration of Gwendoline is visible when the volume is shelved. This is a bibliophile's book, something we see less and less of these days, whose physical presentation was designed to compiliment its content.
Included are also some sketches and unfinished work, and it is always fun to see an artist we admire in their off-the-cuff moments, forming ideas or simply riffing without worrying about an audience. A brief - the best I've read - biography is included, as well as several photographs of the artist himself. There are several full color plates as well, watercolors of Willie taken from private collections.
A beautiful, absolutely beautiful volume. Of the many books I buy and sell and trade, this will stay in my library forever. I can offer no higher recommendation.
At Last.......2002-01-06
As a UK fan of Love Bondage and simular material, I've waited for years to obtain a copy of this book. I can assure all wondering about the purchase that the wait was well worth it. The quality of the illustrations is exelent and there is plenty of bonus material contained within it's bulging covers. Well done the publishers, you made a UK fan very happy this Chrstmas!
All the New Photos!!!!.......2001-11-30
I ordered this book as a Christmas gift for my husband. He has yet to see it, of course, but WOW! I love it! To see the many works that were previously unpublished, what can I say. John Willie really had a hand to match where his heart was! It's a great book for any one who loves erotic art or is familiar with the story of Gwen!
The perils of Gwendoline, a none PC world........2000-10-02
This is a beautifully produced book, a new printing with additional information and working drawings never published before. In this is a weird world, where the normal rules do not apply, all the (invariably beautiful) women are both strong and submissive, a weird dichotomy that seems to make sense in John Willie's loopy world.
No situation domestic or public takes place without someone, usually the innocent abroad (Gwendoline), falling into the clutches of the nefarious villian, his mistress and the wicked maid.
There is also mysterious secret agent (U69) who rescues Gwendoline, only to torment the strangely receptive girl.
Do not give this to the innocent or the young, however anyone who can appreciate the charm and strange innocence of his art, and this is art, this is a must have. Mad, bad and wonderful to know.

Well recommended.......2000-03-30
Much vaunted by the modern British Bizarre magazine and worththe outlay. It's a shame it's so hard to get hold of... Very well done etc.

About a boy and his dog... .......2007-01-23
This book is the story of Willie Morris' childhood companion, a dog named Skip. Willie recounts his adolescent years and all the fond memories of his dog and friends as they grew up together in small town Mississippi. The story is heartwarming and the author paints a very clear picture of all the shenanigans, good times and bad that he and his dog had together over the years. I liked this book; but I think a male reader would appreciate the bond between a boy and his dog more than I can.
My Dog Skip.......2007-01-19
This is a wonderful and touching story. It is a good read, and I recommend it to anyone who has ever had a pet. I especially like that it has a jack russell in the story.
Best Book!.......2006-03-18
This was a great book! It was so touching and heartfelt. I love dogs and this book is an example of someone who loves dogs like me so I can connect! Greatly recomended!
One of the best dog stories I have ever read.......2006-03-17
Willie Morris was a truly great author! This story of his childhood with his dog was really heartwarming. It is so simple and warm and humorous, you will just love it. Warning: you will cry your eyes out at the end, but it's worth the pain. One of the best animal stories ever, I hope many kids read this in school. If you loved the movie "A Christmas Story" you will love this book. The movie version of "My Dog Skip" is also quite good, though it is kind of upsetting that in order to create drama the wonderful father of the book is kind of nasty in the movie. Willie Morris was a great author who also wrote a cat book entitled "My Cat Spit McGee" and several books about his life that remind me a little of Russel Baker's memoirs. One is entitled "North Toward Home", another "Good Old Boy" and one is about life in New York City.
Beautifully Told.......2004-01-06
Willie Morris has recounted the life of not just a boyhood pet, but a dear and close friend.
The Story of Skip's life as told by his owner is full of mythic adventures of childhood. Where every new day was full of joy and wonder. Morris' storytelling brings the dog, his family and the lush southern landscape into full and brilliant view.
When you read My Dog Skip you can just feel how much this young man loved and revered his dog.
Any of us who have had a much loved pet know that the bond between animal and human can reach so much further than just "pet and owner". Willie Morris makes the statement that Skip wasn't just his dog, but his brother... that is a beautiful thing. Morris grew up an only child but did not feel alone by any stretch of the imagination. He was loved deeply by and deeply loved his dog Skip.
Another great point made in this book is how Willie Morris learned so much from his dog Skip. He clearly states that the most lasting lessons he has learned about love and loyalty came from knowing his dog.
This book captures so well the love a boy or any human being can have for a pet... I loved the story and highly recommend it!

Book Description
Presenting the Hall of Shame! Both entertaining and indiscreet, this dictionary of callous cads introduces a host of wildly colorful characters. Here are assassins and arsonists, hangmen and horse thieves, hell-raisers and highwaymen, not to mention an array of poisoners, quacks, and forgers. Meet Ronald Biggs, one of the participants of the Great Train Robby, and Julie Amiri, a thief who found being detained by policemen...very exciting. There's enough degradation, depravity, and dottiness to delight anyone. A Selection of the Readers Subscription Book Club.

Nobody does "eccentrics" like the Brits!!.......2003-12-06
Everything you never knew that you wanted to know about the oddballs, rogues, cads, scoundrels, footpads, and other non-conformists who made the "Sceptered Isle" what it is (and was). I got this book since I really enjoyed "The Henry Root Letters" and "Root Into Europe". Our old friend the 5th Duke of Portland is well represented(see "Ballroom, construction of one underground"), as are swindlers, the Krays, women who served as men in the Army, train robbers, etc. The list truly does go on and on. If you are familiar with "Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels", Lenny McLean, who played Barry The Baptist, and Vinnie Jones, who played Big Chris are both subjects of bios here, but although I mostly seem to be citing criminals in this review, there is far, far more to this book. I highly and unreservedly recommend this! (By the way, I recently learnt "Willie" Donaldson died. His obit in the UK press was WONDERFUL. A womanizing, drunken druggie....no wonder his entries about Keith Moon and Brian Jones sound so accurate!!)

They can't make seats either........2007-09-15
Perhaps Harley is going to publish an after-market book to correct all of the flaws in this book. Probably in chrome. I originally bought the book hoping to do some resarch on historic color schemes for a new bike, and in that quest I found the book to be quite valuable. Beyond that I found it to be curious that the book was a square format and all of Harley's bike are a horizontal format, so that every beauty shot of the bikes is printed across a gutter. You never get to see a bike in full. It's maddening. That being said, the history of the company and the culture is wonderful and inspiring. The shots from the archives are very well done and the tone of voice is very engaging. I just wanted to see the bikes. It's just like Harley's seats, good looking but kind of uncomfortable.
Nothing like a Harley.......2007-09-05
This book is very informative for the avid Harley lover!! This book would help you make an informative decision on which bike fits your lifestyle!! It is a great book to just pick up and flip thru the pages over and over again!!

My son loved this book !.......2007-06-08
My son has been a "biking enthusiast" and rider for years. He is currently rebuilding an old Harley w/restored parts. I'm scared of cycles and just stay away from them, but I even have to admit that this bike is beautiful !! He had a heart atack a few months ago and I ordered the 100 Years of Harley Davidson because I knew he would enjoy it while recouperating. He DEFINITELY did !! He's back at work -- but says he is still picking it up and re-reading or just flipping through it. It is such a nice book !! If you have a "biker" in your life or you are one yourself, either give it for a gift or enjoy it yourself !!
A Must-Read for Bikers!.......2007-01-09
this is a great coffee table book - not too big, not too small. i actually bought this book as a gift for my boss, as he is a huge harley davidson fan and has a fatboy harley himself. he really liked it! the pics. and the history in this book is awesome.
The history of Harley-Davidson, from one of the family.......2005-12-30
William G. Davidson, or as he is affectionatly known, Willie G., gives an insiders view of the history and near demise of an American institution. I drank the Harley Kool-Aide years ago, but it was interesting to get another viewpoint on the Motor Company. The historical pictures are fantastic, especially the old hill climb photos. This is a must have for any Harley owner, and a gotta have for bikers in general. Be forwarned, you will also drink the Kool-Aide if you haven't already!
Ride Free, Willie G.!
