Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.

The Black Swan: The Impact of the Highly Improbable
ASIN: 0691117543 |
Book Description
From the names of cruise lines and bookstores to an Australian ranch and a nudist camp outside of Atlanta, the word serendipity--that happy blend of wisdom and luck by which something is discovered not quite by accident--is today ubiquitous. This book traces the word's eventful history from its 1754 coinage into the twentieth century--chronicling along the way much of what we now call the natural and social sciences.
The book charts where the term went, with whom it resided, and how it fared. We cross oceans and academic specialties and meet those people, both famous and now obscure, who have used and abused serendipity. We encounter a linguistic sage, walk down the illustrious halls of the Harvard Medical School, attend the (serendipitous) birth of penicillin, and meet someone who "manages serendipity" for the U.S. Navy.
The story of serendipity is fascinating; that of The Travels and Adventures of Serendipity, equally so. Written in the 1950s by already-eminent sociologist Robert Merton and Elinor Barber, the book--though occasionally and most tantalizingly cited--was intentionally never published. This is all the more curious because it so remarkably anticipated subsequent battles over research and funding--many of which centered on the role of serendipity in science. Finally, shortly after his ninety-first birthday, following Barber's death and preceding his own by but a little, Merton agreed to expand and publish this major work.
Beautifully written, the book is permeated by the prodigious intellectual curiosity and generosity that characterized Merton's influential On the Shoulders of Giants. Absolutely entertaining as the history of a word, the book is also tremendously important to all who value the miracle of intellectual discovery. It represents Merton's lifelong protest against that rhetoric of science that defines discovery as anything other than a messy blend of inspiration, perspiration, error, and happy chance--anything other than serendipity.
Customer Reviews:
Wonderful journey.......2004-01-26
This delightful book explores the journey of the word SERENDIPITY, from its exotic 18th Century origins to much wider use including a recent movie.
The late author, Robert K. Merton was an influential and ground breaking sociologist who developed such concepts as the "Focus Group" and "Self-Fufilling Prophecy".
This book is a must-have for every home, library and dorm room.

Hard Going.......2001-06-26
The thought in this book is profound and enlightening, the style and language are clear enough, but I found it unbearably hard going to get through it.
Creative Platonist's Perspective on History and Civilization.......2001-06-06
There are four parts to this text: "Sociological," "Cosmological," "Philosophical," and "Civilization." The first part is a history of how ideas, especially moral ideas, have influenced the progress of civilization. Whitehead is by training mathematician and by nature a philosopher, not a historian. As a consequence, he covers a great deal of historical ground at a high level of generality which, in Whitehead's case, I consider a virtue. He has a beautiful, long-term perspective; his account of the transition from a world in which slavery was taken for granted to one in which it is no longer legitimate, and the role that the ideas of Platonism and Christianity played in that 2500 year transition, makes me quite optimistic about the long-term possibility of humane progress in the world.
I describe the first section in depth because it is among the more accessible pieces of Whitehead's writing. The remainder of the book calls upon his unique metaphysical perspective to some extent, and is thus more of a struggle for the casual reader. It, too, is beautiful and valuable for those who are willing to learn how to read Whitehead, but it is not easy. Buy the book for the first part, then if you like Whitehead's highly idiosyncratic view of reality, train yourself to read the rest of the book.
Personally, although Whitehead has fallen out of favor of academic philosophers for most of this century, I think that his work is more likely to be read 200 years from now than are most other works written this century. Whitehead is definitely thinking of the big picture with a certain serene timelessness. Far more people should be exposed to his 20th century articulation of the eternal search for the True, the Good, and the Beautiful (and the Adventure).
The Ideas Are Still Adventurous.......2001-01-26
Whitehead was the foremost twentieth-century advocate of Process Philosophy--he called it "The Philosophy of Organism"--the conviction that reality is composed of processes rather than of substances or matter.
Students of process thought frequently focus on Whitehead's major work, _Process and Reality_, sometimes to the neglect of his other books. But Whitehead's thought was, fittingly, in continual flux; and _Adventures of Ideas_, written after _Process and Reality_, contains new themes which, some would say, provide needed correctives to some of the notions in Whitehead's earlier books. _Adventures of Ideas_ is also considerably more readable than _Process and Reality_. It should not be passed over.
One of the best.......2000-11-13
Excellently written. I was somewhat fan of Whitehead's philosophical ideas before I picked up this book. However, since I started reading this book I have become quite fascinated by his works. I recommend this book for all who seek knowledge or would like to further their command over making an inquiry into pre thought process.

Solitude: A Return to the Self
ASIN: 0595309909 |
Book Description
"Oh, if there were someone to tell us the history of that subtle feeling called solitude," mused the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. In The Greatest Escape, David Balcom answers that call, showing that solitude is an inevitable--yet vital and exciting--facet of our existence with a long, tumultuous past. He travels back in time to trace the spirit flights of shamans; wanders in the mountains of China, listening to the poetry of recluse scholars; visits the forests of India to participate in the dialogues of ancient sages; explores the wisdom of early Greek philosophers, Christian hermits, and Sufi mystics; and illuminates the role of solitude in the lives and writings of modern poets and intellectuals from Petrarch to Thoreau. Covering a broad swath of history, Balcom introduces us to powers and resources in solitude that are drowned in the clamor of modern life. He concludes that the experience of solitude can be creative, joyful, enlightening, sometimes all three at once--and that the perennial "fruits of solitude" are open to everyone. "Here," he writes, "is an apology for and a guide to the greatest of all escapes."

Must read for Mac users.......2002-05-22
I just bought the flat-screen iMac in Mar 2002 and was eager to know the history of Apple. This book gives excellent insights to the contrasting corporate cultures between Pepsi and Apple. The former follows protocol, and place huge emphasis on winning market shares, while the latter is about freedom, creativity, learning and creating market shares.
The style is simple and direct which makes it an easy read. Readers who are looking for style more than content may be disappointed though.
You will read about Jobs' infamous quote to Sculley: `Do you want to spend the rest of your life selling sugared water, or do you want to change the world?'
Although published in 1988, the book still has a great appeal to anyone who wants to learn about Sculley, Jobs or Apple. After reading the book, I found myself regularly drinking Pepsi in front of my iMac! It gives great motivation for anyone who wants to start a new business or introduce new way of doing things.
A must read for all Mac users!
An Interesting Lesson About Incentives.......2001-08-18
Mr. Sculley describes how Steve Jobs lured him to Apple, and blithely exposes his thought processes behind the decision to go. Among other things, he insisted upon a lucrative compensation/house package, explaining that he simply could not be burdened with any personal financial considerations while dedicating his self-appraised tremendous powers to running Apple. The Apple folks agreed, Sculley got his huge salary and his new house, and under his hand the company tanked down the tubes forthwith.
Sculley presented management lessons as his narrative progressed. He did not directly discuss the matter of incentives, and the complacency which unearned wealth induces so quickly, electing instead to present that lesson by his own example. Perhaps if Mr. Sculley had been more concerned about his own financial condition as a function of the company's success or failure, he would have been more highly motivated to do a better job running the firm.
At least one member of every corporate board of directors should read this book, and keep this lesson about incentives in mind whenever it's time to hire new executives and develop their compensation packages.
Long, Boring and slow.......2000-03-30
I started with an expectation of something that would be fast paced; however, this was not to be. Sculley's style is repetitive and slow. He makes a point in a couple of paragraphs and then goes on and on about the same thing. He also gives too much importance to his personal life in the book.
A devastating insight of the young Jobs, Apple and Sculley.......1999-10-27
An absoloute must for Apple users. It gives an insight to how Apple was run, how Jobs was at a young age, and what Sculley did at the helm. You must buy this book!
In one word: spellbinding.......1999-10-15
It's just as spectacular as it sounds: Odyssey. I't s a really captivatingly written book, easy to follow (for us non-executive types) yet incredibly fascinating. It shows a complete behind the scenes of the beginnings of Apple, and some info on J. Sculley's previous "life" at PepsiCo.

Not the Best..........2005-03-02
This book was OK, but not as good as I hoped. There were a few slight changes that the author made, which kind of confused me.
Well, in the story, there's a villian named Outback Jack, and his sidekick is a sock puppet. (Not so original, considering that Awful Alvin, another villian in some other books, has a lamp as a side kick). There's a file they steal from the newspaper office that tells them about treasure map on the face of a clock.
But, at the beginning of the book, Larry is called Lawrence once.
Not that I don't like the name, but the nickname Larry seems to make more sense for him. Also, the author played around with Larryboy's secret identity (Or secret identities in this book)
which confused me a lot.
This book is good. I read it sometimes. It's just that the other books in this series seem to make more sense than this one. Most things are much different in this one than in the others.
Um..........2004-10-20
Now, don't let this review fool you.
I love the Larryboy books, and the movies!
However, this book didn't really measure up.
This is the only book that I wasn't really sastified with. This is not to say that I didn't enjoy it. Larryboy is adorable, and Pruneman is a good addition. There are even a few inside jokes. (In Chapter 15, for example, Larryboy shouts to "three scallions". Trust me, if you've seen VeggieTales, you'll get it.)
However, at the end, it didn't seem fully fleshed. Outback Jack was not exactly, in my opinion, a very interesting villian. He's neither scary nor very lovable, which is a problem because every other villian has been either one or the other. Not to mention the bad guy whose sidekick is an inanimate object has been done before! (See the Awful Ear Wacks Attacks.)
The plot seems a little strange. Maybe I read it too fast, but it didn't seem to make much sense.
Is this recomended? Well, it depends. If you want to read every single book in the series, go ahead. Anyone who doesn't care about reading every book can skip it.

Adventures of Ideas: A Brilliant History of Mankind's Great Thoughts
Manufacturer: The New American Library
ProductGroup: Book
Binding: Paperback
ASIN: 0191311960 |
Product Description
Here is an exciting intellectual adventure conducted by Alfred North Whitehead, the philosopher who has been called one of the greatest minds of the 20th century. Beautifully written and lucidly expressed, this book interprets the history of civilization from the point of view of the great ideas which have advanced humanity. Professor Whitehead points out how vital and revolutionary changes in ideas alter the actual basic conditions of society. He cites, as an example, human slavery which the ancients considered an inescapable premise of civilization and which has now been rejected by modern man. In the four main sections of this book, he explains how the leaven of ideas work on society, in religion and philosophy, and finally with the human spirit desiring perfection. Unusual in scope and bold in its presentation, "Adventures of Ideas" is a book of tremendous importance to everyone interested in man's future.

Book Description
The Little Inspiration Book: Ideas to Empower Women began as little notes and quotes in DEB's journals. DEB's quest for adventure and self-discovery led her to write down ideas and thoughts as she backpacked through British Columbia, cycle toured alone through Iceland, and sailed from Canada to Mexico. As she traveled, she wrote about what gave her hope during difficult times, what motivated her, and how she was able to live her dreams. These ideas and her personal stories and photographs are here to inspire and encourage you.
Inside The Little Inspiration Book you will find ideas to teach and motivate you how to add positive change and growth into your life. Here's a sample of some of the chapters and ideas you'll find. Rejuvenate...Move your Body, Schedule a Sacred Day, Spent Time in Nature, Beautify Your Surroundings, and Live Like a Cat - Relax! Consider This... Stop Worrying, Don't Give Up, and Be Yourself - Be Confident! Try This! Play with Kids, Design Your Life, Write a Journal, Start a Project, and Get Rid of Something.
Customer Reviews:
Full of Inspiration.......2002-10-01
The author of this book, at one time, had a tough struggle with her life. She felt that she couldn't go on anymore. However, when she called a friend for help, that friend's advice changed her life forever.
Deb took Sally's advice, and began a journal for herself. This journal was filled with Deb'S feelings, goals, and more. This journal is also what she said, "inspired the Little Inspiration Book"!
Through bits of Deb's journal she has created a short book that will help to inspire you, and help you reach your goals. You will also find relaxation ideas that you can try to relieve any stress.
I learned for The Little Inspirational Book, and I'm sure that you will too. Even after you have finished the book, you will be able to refer back to it when you need to, or when you're feeling down.
