Save your money.......2006-08-05
Who does this lady think she is? Her books contradict each other more than the bible. In this book she claims to have experienced hell. But the first page in Eclipse, she says there isn't a hell. She needs to make her mind up before she puts her words in print.
Opened my eyes to a new way of seeing.......2005-09-05
I remember my father reading this book back in the 1980s and how much he liked it. As I got older and more jaded by corporate life he suggested I read it, it would change my life. I kept putting it off and finally bought my own copy in late 1999. I still didn't read it though. I left it sitting on my book shelf for two more years. Well, when I finally picked it up - I couldn't put it down. I read it in one night and have reread it five times since. Mary Summer Rain and No Eyes are what I have been looking for for a long time. I read the first page and felt like I was home. Spirit Song has helped me so much to see that it's not about me, but all of us me's out there. I can't wait to read the next one: Phoenix Rising.
An Amazing Journey of the Senses!!!.......2005-07-03
I just finished reading this wonderful book, and I am still awed by its' beauty! "Spirit Song" is truly a gem to behold!
Mary Summer Rain's writing style is such that I actually felt as though I was right there with her & the "old woman" - hearing, seeing, smelling, feeling, & sensing all that they did. What a wonderful journey it was!
"Spirit Song" is a story about the author's meeting, and subsequent learning from, and old Chippewa visionary. It is filled with the most beautiful imagery of the Colorado mountains - where both resided - as well as the amazing imagery of the past & potential future of life on earth.
It's about an old woman with much to teach, and a younger woman who is eager to learn. It's about that special bond we all need - friendship. It's about hardship & loss, and bliss & freedom. This book is so many things all wrapped up in a wonderfully written package.
This is the first book in the No-Eyes series - apparently there are several - and I am quite eager now to order & read the next one.
If you are at all interested in spirituality and/or the American Indian culture, this would be a great book for you. I can't recommend it highly enough! I would also recommend the book "Black Elk", which is another great portrayal of the life of an old Indian visionary.
Thank you Mary Summer Rain.......2005-03-11
This book changed my life. Seriously, it made me rethink everything I thought I knew & find out things I never thought of. I read other spiritual type books before this one that were great. But this one just really touched something in me that rang true. Defenitly a must read for anyone searching for something more meaningful in life.
A Truly Beatific and Beautiful Book!.......2003-02-18
... My girlfriend recommended I read this book, and I'm glad I listened to her. If you have ever read, and enjoyed, any of the many books of Carlos Castaneda ( now passed away - ? ) about his continuing adventures with ( and without ) the Native American Indian shaman-teacher, Don Juan, then you most certainly will also enjoy reading this series of "NO-EYES BOOKS" ( as some call them ) by the gifted author, Mary Summer Rain. ... What a beautiful writer! What a wonderful story! What an amazing set of visions!
... Yeah, she touches upon many of the standard "New Age" bases as she weaves her tale: aliens, alternative medicine, angelic beings, astral projection, astrology, back-to-nature living, dream symbololy, earth changes, ecology, herbology, meditation, mind-reading, Native American spirituality, parapsychology, prophecy, psychic powers, psycho-kinesis, reincarnation, shamanism, spirit-guides, UFO's, vision-quests, et al ... but she does it in a way that has a natural flow and with a a lightness of spirit that is not overbearing or overly serious. She draws you in, instead of hitting you over the head with her insights.
... Is No-Eyes a real person? ... Is Don Juan, or Jesus, or even Socrates? ... Ultimately, who cares? So what?! Or, "What so!," as No-Eyes would say. All that really matters are the archetypal truths conveyed by the narrative. These truths, and "lessons" of No-Eyes, are deep, profound, and life-affirming - and they are there to be appreciated by one and all, thanks to the wise writings of Mary Summer Rain.
... As she quotes No-Eyes on page 61: "Now, in old days Peoples love all stuff. They love trees, mountains, grass, animals, all stuff. Sacred powers were nature forces: wind, water, fire, lightning. Peoples know Father Sky and Earth Mother parents of all life. Every creature have spirit. All nature be People's church. It be bad stuff to force Great Spirit to crouch down into one building. Great Spirit everywhere! It forever duty of Peoples to every day give prayers to Great Mystery, to be thankful. These prayers more important to Peoples than food even. All Peoples see Great Spirit in black rain clouds, hear Him in thundering waterfalls. Peoples make all acts in life a sacred act. Peoples know sacred silence is voice of Great Spirit. This silence be ultimate balance of mind, body, and spirit. Peoples give away all one's stuff! They know stuff not where Great Spirit be. Stuff not important! Summer, that true love. That pure love!"
... How anyone cannot be charmed and moved by this wonderful little treasure of a book is beyond me! If you enjoyed reading Black Elk Speaks, you will enjoy this book. Also, we have all seen those maps of what the future of the planet is supposed to look like by, supposedly, the year 2012. Right? You've seen those maps! Well, remember, that this book was first published in 1985 - way before COMING EARTH CHANGES in 1996 by William Hutton, NOTES FROM THE COSMOS in 1997 by Gordon-Michael Scallion, and many of the other "future prophecy" books out there on the market were published. Remember that the next time you see one of those maps on someone's living room wall! ... One could also say that certain Native American people might take offense to their traditional spirituality being combined with and / or co-opted by "New Age-ism." As we all know, Native Americans very much resent their genuine religious beliefs being exploited by New Agers seeking glory and profit from their ancient wisdom. Nevertheless, Mary Summer Rain writes of these ancient and perenial truths with such respect and loving admiration that one would be hard-pressed to find fault with her. She really is sowing seeds of higher consciousness with these books, and she should be commended for that. ... YOWZA! - The Aeolian Kid

THE GUY WHO WROTE THIS WAS A VICAR.HE LIVED IN MY HOUSE.......2007-04-11
ok this sounds weird but the guy who wrote this book was a previous owner of the house i live in, both me and my partner were having weird intense dreams not long after we moved in, then we get a box of these books delivered to my house, and reconied the name, he was a local vicar, the neighbours told me he went slightly mad?..the book didnt really explain too much about the murdurous dreams i was having, but just found the whole thing a bit weird.....
Some good stuff.......2004-02-11
This book was o.k. It follows Jung and Freud very well. There are a lot of symbols meanings available. I had trouble relating many of the meanings to me and my dreams. One good thing was that its not one of those books that tell you your fortune or what's in the future. Also it has a good introductory about important aspects of dreaming.
One of the best.......2002-09-18
Of the 6 or so books on dreams that I own; this is one of the best. While the interpretations given are from an analytical viewpoint, they are written in simple language and in a straight-forward manner. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to understand their dreams.
The best for psychological dream interpretation........2001-07-17
I have been interested in dream analysis for several years, but each book I read gave a prophetic interpretation of dreams. Although this can be fun, I wanted to find out the deeper meaning of the themes and symbols in my dreams. This book has several explanations for each symbol, stemming from theories of Freud and Jung. It gives the reader meaningful insights about dreams, and it is also very easy to use and understand. The symbols are listed in alphabetical order, covering everything from objects to specific feelings. I have never had trouble finding anything, even if it seemed really abstract. If you are serious about dream analysis, this book should be on your nightstand.
Facinating; my first dreambook, not my last!!!!.......1999-09-30
Like I said this was my first dreambook and i loved it. I have even brought it to work for others to "interpret" dreams, most loved it too. However, Ican't find a lot of things tha keep reacurring in my dreams and it's driving me NUTS!! So I am now looking for another Dream dictionary. But I will keep this one and continue to use it regularlly.

Book Description
A useful manual for any magician or curious spectator who wonders why the tricks seem so real, this guide examines the psychological aspects of a magician’s work. Exploring the ways in which human psychology plays into the methods of conjuring rather than focusing on the individual tricks alone, this explanation of the general principles of magic includes chapters on the use of misdirection, sleight of hand, and reconstruction, provides a better understanding of this ancient art, and offers a section on psychics that warns of their deceptive magic skills.

Exceptional book.......2007-03-08
This exceptional book studies the theoretical and above all psychological elements of conjuring, in an analytical way, expecially considering the Misdirection and the Reconstruction. It is very very interesting and you can learn much from it. I am a magician so I know what I say.
Sister's gift.......2007-01-10

Magic in Theory - Review by Clark May.......2005-10-02
I recently purchased Magic in Theory which is a college level text on the theoretical and psychological elements of performing as a Magician.
For an intermediate or advanced level Magician, this book tends to be quite helpful and causes one to think toward making the performance of Magic more believable and more entertaining for the audience.
The paperback version of the book is quite reasonable priced but, unfortunately, the hardbound version is somewhat overpriced.

Interesting to see my stage of life.......2003-04-29
There are two things I like about this book:
The author compellingly laid out the stages of a person's life in spans of years: age "Seven to Fourteen" or "Thirty-eight to Forty-two". The former is my step-kids ages and the latter is mine - and I learned why actions and thoughts are occuring. I also liked his use of prominant people from history to show how events seem to happen at certain ages - from Marie Curry to Marilyn Monroe.
Finally, I enjoyed the poetic prose and pictures the author helped to create in my mind. The words just flowed and didn't use any tired old jargon.

Book Description
This is an undiscovered classic of contemporary spirituality. Massimo Scaligero (1906-1980) was a student of Zen, Yoga, and the Spiritual Science of Rudolf Steiner, but he came to altogether independent conclusions based on his direct spiritual experience. This text, "The Light," is his masterpiece. A continuous, unfolding meditation, it is the immediate expression of Scaligero's travels in higher realms.
"The Light" shows how the primal principle, the source of all being knowing and love descends instant by instant into the known world of things. Scaligero writes from the very stream of being, into which this work invites us. He poses the challenge: will we learn to experience the processes of consciousness, or will we rest in their products?

The Best Ever Written.......2001-01-07
Lets get one thing straight, this is not a book for a complete novice to Astrology, it assumes a basic understanding of astrological concepts and principles - which can easily be found in countless guides and manuals.
The book starts with a remarkably thorough insight into the origins of Astrology and its subsequent development to the present day, charting the major breakthoughs that helped the discipline to establish itself as the premier intellectual pursuit of ancient and more recent times.
Although practitioners do not need any justification of Astrology, the authors do go into considerable detail on psychology which helps the reader to understand the concepts and techniques of interpreting mundane charts in a much more objective manner than would otherwise be the case.
If this were all that the book explains that would be enough for it to be valuable, however, the authors then proceed not only to demonstrate chart-reading techniques, but also to explain other extremely valuable charting techniques not requiring horoscopes! All the while cross-referencing with examples and published works.
Where this book excels is that the authors present astrology in a practical, no nonsense logical way and are honest enough to admit that they do get things wrong from time to time.
For sheer volume of extremely valuable information this book has it all - An Essential text for any serious Astrologer

From experience, with passion.......2005-11-05
An only child is burdened with an unfair amount of attention and expectation, and so it is with Farhang Mehr's ZOROASTRIAN TRADITION which is the only introduction in print, in English, by a native Zoroastrian, to contemporary Zoroastrian belief. Even without alternative perspectives Prof. Mehr's book is outstanding. It takes a moderate position between reactionary and revolutionary interpretations of Zoroastrianism at the same time as it presents its own vision of an ethical and mystical religion which is not only alive and well but growing in numbers and influence.
Dr. Ichaporia found Professor Mehr's English to be poor. I've read the book cover to cover three times and I found Mehr's command of English to be perfectly fine. Dr. Ichaporia also implies that Professor Mehr should stick to politics and leave religion to the scholars. All well and good except to date no scholar, Ichaporia included, has attempted a book of this scope, for the most part preferring to pick at each other's translations of Zarathustra's sacred songs (the Gathas) instead of sharing them with a general readership.
Prof. Mehr's life and career have been well-documented in TRIUMPH OVER DISCRIMINATION. His religion is hard-earned in the front lines and trenches of policy and diplomacy. I trust Mehr to know whence he speaks and I heartily recommend this book to those who wish to know what Zarathustra's vision looks like in real life rather than in academic monographs.
Very mediocre book.......1999-12-02
While selecting a Text Book for teaching the Undergraduate Comparative Religion Class, I happened to read this book. I found it extreemely mediocre and unworthy as a text book. It is more like a preaching sermon and than a text book, being compounded by poor English as also least scholarly. The author is the political figure in Pre-revolution Iran and an expert in politics rather than in religion
Outstanding Modern Work on the Meaning of Zoroastrianism.......1999-11-09
Offering deep insights into the fundamental teachings of one of the most important persons in the history of humankind, this glowing book creatively transcends the usual audience to serve the greater interests of everyone on our planet. Moreover, aside from the ancient scriptures themselves, perhaps no other single work is as important as this one to today's Zoroastrians and Zoroastrian scholars. Quite unlike any other treatise on the subject, Professor Mehr breathes life into the layers of wisdom brought to us from a distant past, peeling away the mists until the reader sees these revelations radiate with the brilliance that ultimately caused civilization itself to burst forth from humankind. Anyone who has the slightest interest as to why we are here and what we are supposed to do will want to read this fascinating and important work.

Customer Reviews:
One of the Top Ten for any Gnostic Library.......2006-10-03
THE SECRET BOOKS OF THE EGYPTIAN GNOSTICS by Jean Doresse is another great scholarly work free from "New Age" claptrap & commercialist distortion. The book is particularly relevant as French author Doresse was literally one of the first Westerners to actually see the original Nag Hammadi texts discovered in 1947. Although Doresse is a Christian proponent with a thinly veiled hostility to Gnostic tradition, he provides a wealth of reference material and, like Kurt Rudolph, indicates a possible interaction with Gnostic beliefs and Paganism--particularly in Alexandria, the motherland of Gnostic Paganism. This book is a MUST READ for any serious student of the origins and practices of Gnostic Philosophy.
Gospel of Judas and Other Gnostic Secrets Revealed
Not what it seems .......2005-05-19
This book was published before the Dag Hammadi texts were widely available. So, with the availability of translations of the Dag Hammadi texts, the one third of this book that closely describes the contents of the texts become considerably less valuable. One can read the translations themselves.
Although Jean Doresse was involved early on with the manuscripts, he was, as described on the back jacket, a "French scholar and archaelogist". He was, apparently, familiar with Coptic, the language of the manuscripts, and he had some background as a historian, as he says he was in Egypt as the time of the disocvery of the manuscripts to research ancient Coptic monasteries. I didn't see mention of having had a professional background in religious studies including comparative religion. I didn't see mention in a professional background in early Christian history. Now that the manuscripts have available for a half century, undoubtedly many professionals with a background in early Christian history and/or comparative religion have had a chance to analyze and write about the texts. Being first, as Doresse was, may not be an advantage, especially considering the superior professional background that others since have had for this subject. Elaine Pagels ("The Gnostic Gospels") is one example.
Doresse seems an enthusiastic and knowlegeable writer, but how much faith can one put in his assessments of the history of Gnosticism and the religious problems it posed, given his background. Perhaps his judgments seem on the mark, but I have reservations. What I found most troubling was the possible impacts his biases may have had. I'm also troubled that his bias was largely hidden throughout almost all of the book. After seeming objective, on the last page of the Epilogue he closes by noting the "incomparable superiority" of the New Testament over the Nag Hammadi texts. And he criticizes the secrecy of the Gnostics, writing that "We marvel that the Gnostic schools were able to compete with them [ i.e. compete using these texts] , and we can understand why their sectaries preferred, face to face with this religion [i.e. Orthodox Christianity ] to keep their own dogma secret and hide themselves in the dark".
An unexpected and unexplained closing. Did Doreese perhaps feel that after revealing the Gnostics, he'd best write a paragraph to appease the contemporary orthodox Christian Church? He himself has written in this book that the Gnostics hid their texts out of fear of the wrath of the orthodox Christian Church, who at best would destroy such texts and at worse destroy those who kept them. Didn't he himself write that such works were destroyed by the orthodox Christians, and, if that was the case, the manuscripts of Nag Hammadi might only be a tiny and not very good sample of what Gnostics offered. Doresse wonders how the Gnostics were able to "compete" against what he calls the "authentic" Christians using what he knows might be a tiny fragment of what the Gnostics had to offer. What the Gnostics had to offer may have gone well beyond texts. He himself documents that Gnosticism did persist, as with the Cathars who met their end (in the 12 century) not due to inadequate scripture but due to being murdered in great numbers by the orthodox Church.
Doresse's concluding paragraph puts his entire book in question for me.
Doresse's Exploration of Coptic Gnostic Wonderlands.......2004-03-29
Doresse's Exploration of Gnostic Wonders:
A masterful entery to Gnosticism; Doresse's book was the first insider's authoritative description of the Egyptian Gnostic writings known as the Chenoboskion Library, discovered near today's Nag-Hammadi, in upper Egypt. This is, no doubt, the best book on rediscovering the roots of Gnosticism in Chenoboskion. Doresse's enthusiasm makes this book an enjoyable reading, even with all the complicated Gnostic thought and philosophical terms. He studied with Togo Mina, a Coptic scholar, then director of the Coptic Museum, under Prof. Pueuch, and was one of the first few with whom Mina consulted. Doresse got the finesse to lead the reader to appreciate the beauty of these writings, explaining their underlying thought clearly, and without bias.
Despite the forty five years since its publication, its masterful introduction to Gnosticism and elaborate account of the discovery, and re-acquiring of the smuggled codices keeps it still very vivid. A detailed description of the codices is given, before he starts a discussion of the texts themselves, and what they reveal to him of Gnostic belief and practice, with a special emphasis on the Gospel of Thomas.
Previously known to scholars?
Before unearthing Chenoboskion library, almost all existing original references on Gnosticism were written in Coptic; including the Askew codex, the Bruce fragments, codex Berolensis that no one knows where did it disappear after the fall of Berlin. These gnostic writings were previously known to scholars, but no one would have expected that such a Gnostic collection, could show up in this great variety. Doresse's personal experience, and excitement over his early participation in these discoveries renders the book brisk and engaging, even if the subject could have been academic and monotonous. Given that most of what we knew about the various sects of Gnostics came from the surviving writings by early Christians Church fathers like Iraeneus, Tertulian, Clement and Origen, the core reality of gnosticism was not distorted but only partly understood, in the light of these apologies. Doresse thoroughly reviews what was known of Gnosticism before these writings were recently unearthed.
Doresse analysis of Chenoboskion Marvels:
Outlining and discussing those texts previously known in ancient writings, only by title or through brief quotations from writings that has been long thought to be lost, is part of his amazement. He is overwelmed due to the broad spectrum of sources the Gnostics relied on. The library includes, Hermetic Egyptian and Persian manuals as well as a great part of vaguely known but long time lost apocryphal Christian writings and Apocalyptic books. This leads Doresse to confirm his mentor Professor Pueuch theory of Judaic roots of Gnosticism, and would also explain how some scholars comment on the 'more Gnostic sounding passages' of the New Testament.
It was also an amusing surprise to find adaptations of earlier known works selectively edited for Gnostic use, renamed, and ascribed to more authorititive writers. This practice does make it difficult to take at face value the Library's outstanding pseudo-Christian works attributed to the Evangelists, Apostles, and even Jesus Christ Himself. At the same time, it also makes some scholars wonder if any of the same sayings infelterated into Christian doctrines or even included within the canonical books of the New Testament in its final form. (authorized by St Athanasius in his paschal letter of 367).
Secret Words of Jesus:
The words of Jesus, secretly revealed to his disciples, his teachings given an enhanced meaning are fascinating in that these ideals are so poetic. No doubt, that the Gnostics adapted some Eastern Church teachings, including descent into Hades, Christ teaches that spiritual knowledge is gained speculatively through meditation on Gnostic scripture, a merit of the few, through a knowing faith, and contemplative prayer. For Gnostics, faith is just the beginning, following the lead of Easterners, whereas for some western Christians, faith in Jesus is their only forensic justification goal.
Epilogue: Savior Descent into Hades:
'Here, the Chenoboskion manuscript presents a lacuna which the Berlin Codex enables us to fill: the Savior recalls the descent into the lower world by which he is coming to deliver the human creature enslaved to the Archons. "I have struck off the chains...I have broken down the doors of the pitiless and humiliated them...I have revealed to you the name of the Perfect and the whole desire of the mother of the angels. I came to reveal to you that which exists since the beginning. I came because of the pride of the archigenitor and his angels, who say, ' We are gods!' to condemn them by revealing to everyone the God who is above the universe. Trample under foot their sepulchers! let their yoke be broken, that mine may be exalted?" (page 200)
Secret Books of Egyptian Gnostics by Doresse.......2003-11-14
This is a complicated book which requires very careful reading
for enthusiasts of gnosticism. The concept has its meaning in
the beginnings of faith. The Coddians, Stratiotici and the
Phibiomites all have a connection to the same family of gnostics.
The creation of Adam is seen as a myth with the sacrament of
Baptism as the first initial introduction into faith. The
Cast of Demiurageiao' is depicted pictorially. Gnostics
believe in opposites between the created world and G-d.
The Savior discloses man's utter depravity. Manuscripts in the
Sahidic dialect are depicted , as well as writings from the
Book of John, Great Spirit, Sophia of Jesus and Dialogues of the
Savior. Manuscripts of Chenoboskian and the Gospel of Truth
are described in detail as vouchsavers of the Gnosticism.
Gnosticism is definable from power incursions of the Iranian
myths into Jewish mysticism nourished by Greek and Chaldean
philosophies. This work is deep in its implications and
integration of various philosophies into classic gnosticism.
It is perfect for world historians and theologists with a
particular interest in Gnosticism.
A Very Good Book.......2003-09-28
This is possibly the best book on Gnosticism out there, along with Gnosis by Kurt Rudolph. But it should be made clear that this author was a Christian and was not trying to undermine Christianity or present any alternative form of it. He did not believe in the spiritual authority of the Gnostic scriptures; he was simply presenting them as what they are -an incredible scholarly find.
As already stated in another review, Doresse's enthusiasm makes this book an enjoyable read. With the yearly on-slaught of books being written to deride Christianity and claim the superiority of Gnosticism, this is a book written by someone who was instrumental in the first study of the Nag Hammadi library, who can appreciate the value of the writings with no ulterior motives behind his interest.
There is also no polemic against Gnosticism. He makes it plain that there are a lot of Gnostic ideas to be found in the New Testament. This author goes far to show his objectivity and allows the reader to see the beauty of these writings with no anti-Christian diatribes. If only more authors writing on this subject would do the same.

Fine Introduction to Kabbalah.......2004-11-14
There are many introductory books published on the Kabbalah. This is one of the best. The fact that the author has also published more advanced texts (e.g. "The Work of the Kabbalist" and "School of Kabbalah") attests to his intimate knowledge of the subject. But, those texts (as well as translations of older ones such as Gikatilla's "Gates of Light") are quite obtuse without a solid background in the basics. Havlevi (a pseudonym for Warren Kenton) has written several entry level books of high quality. This is one of the best, and probably the one to read first. My favorite quotation from this book (I collect quotes) is: "The rabbis have said that the reason for Existence is that it acts as a vast mirror of contemplation by which God may behold God...the Holy One beholds the Holy One through our experience." 1991 edition, p.202
A good basic introduction about the jewish misticism.......2000-06-28

Book Description
One of the most important psychics of the twentieth century, Jane Roberts spoke for Seth the "energy essence personality no longer focused in physical reality." In her groundbreaking book, Adventures in Consciousness, Roberts sets out to explore the nature of alternate states of consciousness, such as trance-mediumship, ESP, Ouija board messages, out-of-body experiences, dreams, and reincarnational dramas. She asks brilliant new questions and develops an exciting theory of consciousness: aspect psychology. In addition, her anecdotes and practical information help us develop our own "psychic" abilities.

review of Adventures in Consciousness by Jane Roberts.......2007-08-12
This book is a breath of fresh air in terms of tackling areas of the human psyche that other psychology books are either silent on or dismiss without any kind of investigation. The author ventures into areas of human experience that we all have encountered in some form or another and for which we have no official explanation. She approaches the subject in an open, courageous, intelligent way, asking the kinds of questions that lead beyond the narrow confines of what is commonly accepted as reality. A mind blowing adventure in expansion of consciousness without drugs.
Aspects of a whole.......2003-01-12
In our attempts to determine the nature of the greater union of reality (or the unity of all things), we often struggle to find adequate terms.
Jane's marvellous attempt to reconcile the spearation aspect of individual expression with the whole of all that is (not only possible but also probable) offers an invaluable entry to that subject.
Quite apart from the Seth books, this introduction to the nature of self-recognition and the combined relative communication of all things stands its ground.
AN ADVENTUROUS STATE OF MIND.......2000-06-23
In order to reach the more silent areas of consciousness we have to get beyond the noisy regions of our minds in which we spend so much of our time. This necessitates a control over our thoughts. We may then be able to reach that silent area which is the dwelling place of the Spirit, for I know of no better definition of the word Spirit than that it is pure Consciousness devoid of all thought and words.
Does Jane Robert assist us in understanding the depths pure Consciousness can attain? I believe so, for on closing her book, I felt a clearer state of mind, possibly provoked by meditating on her analysis of the human psyche in an almost religious manner. Surely, the attainment of higher levels of consciousness is closely related to certain religious practices and more particularly to the practices of meditation and contemplation. These are the first steps to the disciplining of the mind, which in course of time may lead to an acquirement of higher levels of consciousness. Meditation is also the gateway to a new and much more DIRECT way of knowing, a way in which the "known" and the "thing known" become one and the same thing. It is a difficult path to tread because our attention is repeatedly being caught again by the ceaseless chattering taking place in our heads. But eventually we may, for a short time, succeed in reaching a state of pure consciousness without thought, a state in which truth is revealed to us directly and without the use of words. And the very words of Jane Roberts lead us towards that path...
Good to hear Jane Speak.......2000-06-20
After reading all the Seth books it is goodto hear Jane. She offers great insight into the Seth works. This is her first book on "Aspect Psychology" which by it's definition sounds a lot like "Transpersonal Psychology". She explains many of Seth's concepts on the self but curiously she manufactures her own terms instead of using the ones Seth readers are familiar with.
