Not exactly.......2007-01-10
This item was advertized as not new but had mroe writing in it that rendered it not usable for the purpose for which I had purchased it. The material presented in it is great and useful but this book could not be used by a student as intended.
Excellent series for group study!!!.......2001-07-24
Our small church (20 - 30 who regularly attend church) had 12 participants in adult Sunday School when we did this series. This was the first adult Sunday School curriculem we had used in 10 years, and is still the favorite of all that we've done since. It can be used with new Christians, or those who have done years of Bible study. Even my eight-year-old wanted to watch the videos (available from Focus on the Family) with us(although some videos are not appropriate for children). The videos are excellent. The Leaders' Guide is awesome. Wonderful insights into God's love and our response from little-known parts of the Bible, made relevent by modern-day archeaology. I would recommend this series whole-heartedly to any church or group wanting to study the Bible.

I wish there were more books published for toyota fans.......2006-10-16
The first chapter is good for general information on Toyotas. The rest of the book is rather general information on vehicle maintenance. If you know little about vehicle mechanicals, this would be a useful book. If you are fairly competent with trouble shooting and maintenance, this isn't for you. I am a huge Toyota fan and just wanted the complete library. There is not much Toyota stuff published in printed medium. Using the Chevy small-block bulid up is good general information, but he should have at least used an overhead cam engine in a Toyota book. Listing truck before Land Cruiser in the title is misleading, considering that it seems the far less common Land Cruisers are discussed far more.
Toyota truck and land cruiser owner's bible.......2002-12-07
If you at all care about classic Toyota engineering, don't get this book. Basically I was not expecting much except a good historical perspective on toyota trucks and land cruisers. However, all of the photos in the book are "modified" trucks and land cruisers with ugly "after-factory" wheels and tires. These trucks are disturbing to the pure toyota person to look at. Also, the engine section is based around building a chevy 383 for an fj-40. Hardly worth reading. In short, Moses Ludel is a chevy guy giving you information on how to ruin your Toyota.
First class professional's insight.......2002-01-28
This is an excellent book for most Toyota truck owners. Its goal is not replace shop repair manual. How many would enjoin to read a repair manual? In the sense of how to appreciate and take care your Toyota truck, this is the best one and very easy to read. It has made Toyota truck very comprehensible for a non-mechanic like me.
non-specific.......2001-08-20
Not very specific for any toyota models. Seems like a place for the author to discuss his own experiences with his land cruiser. No technical information whatsoever.
Not very Toyota-specific.......2000-08-02
I bought his Chevy Truck Owner's Bible and found it quite good, a good overview of the line with some good, in-depth info on changes between model years and available equipment. I'm now considering purchasing a Toyota truck and looked at this book for the same info but was very disappointed. Whole sections seem lifted straight out of the Chevy book, even many of the pictures and procedures shown appear to show work being done on (early) Chevys. While this was great info for the Chevy book I was less than impressed when it was included in a book on Toyotas. Further, the book contains very little comparative information on Toyotas over the years (i.e. what model years and engines/transmissions/axles are best, problems to look out for) and didn't nearly approach the breadth of information I have found in other sources. It makes for a bit of a confused read; you can figure out what iron-case 4 speed out of a 70's American truck would be strongest were you to swap one into your Toyota but you can't figure out if there are any differences between the transmissions and axles offered stock in the vehicles. I think the basic fact is that Moses' experience probable lies closer to fullsize American vehicles than the smaller imports.
All in all, I was disappointed with the book and wouldn't recommend it except maybe for someone looking for a very general overview of the Toyota truck line.

Awesome.......2001-09-03
This book by Hal Lindsey is beautifully presented. It details some of the most important sites in the Holy Land appealing to the Christian reader. It is Scripturally correct and will inspire readers to make the trip to The Holy Land. It is really an awesome pictorial account of The Land of God's Chosen people. I recommend it to all who love God's Chosen. I also recommend it to skeptics who would be unbiased enough to explore the truth.
Book Description
Rav Kook'ss writings, due to their poetic and mystical nature, are difficult even for those fluent in Hebrew and rabbinical texts. Gold from the Land of Israel uses a clear, succinct style to grant the reader a window into his original and creative insights. This book elucidates his thoughts on many fascinating topics, including: Can we reconcile the Torah'ss account of creation with modern science? What is the Torah'ss view on vegetarianism? What is the purpose of death? Why do bad things happen to good people? Why do we have dreams? Will the Third Temple have animal sacrifices? Who is God? How can one attain joy in serving God? How should we balance our time between Torah study and work?

Rav Chanan Morrison explains Rav Kook's Torah like no one else.......2007-07-06
Rav Chanan Morrison has been writing Divrei Torah on the weekly Torah Portion inspired by Rav Kook's many Seforim (Religious Books) for years. You can sign up for his weekly newsletter on his website (RavKook-DOT-n3-DOT-net).
Every week he brings down a couple brilliant insights from Rav Kook's Torah, always sourcing it back to the original texts in case the reader would like to venture deeper into the topic. He has a clear, yet colorful style of prose that is infused with the spirituality that a true Talmid (close rabbinical student) of Mercaz Harav (Rav Kook's Learning Institution in Jerusalem, Israel) would have.
He is an American Oleh (emigrant to Israel) that studied and taught in American schools. Anyone who reads this book on a weekly basis will come to a much clearer and truly heartfelt understanding of Rav Kook's philosophy and teachings from the turn of the 20th century.
The book is very intellectual without minimizing the spiritual messages that Rav Kook delivers as many other books on the Philosophies of Rav Kook have, such as "Abraham Isaac Kook:..." by Ben Zion Bokser. The power of Rav Chanan Morrison's writings is that he is not studying Rav Kook as an "Intellectual Endeavor" merely to expand his "philosophical horizons" and objectively compare different modes of spiritual thought. Instead, Rav Morrison studies Rav Kook in order to integrate his teachings into his own life and hashkafa (worldly perspective) as proven by his own biography.
Purchase this book if you truly want to understand Rav Kook and bring the fulfillment of his teachings into your heart.

Changing Over Time.......2004-03-25
It is asserted often that the results of archaeology are empirical, can be assured, or can be verified. After one reads John Currid's "basic guide," one can see why many past conclusions are no longer accepted and why there is a great debate among archaeologists today about what archaeology has proven. Archaeology is a discipline which continues to learn.
Currid tells the story of how archaeology of the land of the Bible began in 1838 when Edward Robinson and Eli Smith traveled the Middle East and identified many biblical sites based upon their modern names. In 1890 William Flinders Petrie began the development of stratio-graphy and its inherent notion that each occupational layer of a mound could be dated by its pottery. After WW II Kathleen Kenyon revolutionized archaeology by digging in small squares within a grid.
So, of course as methods change, conclusions change.
Currid has written a book for someone who has little prior knowledge of archaeology. One thing that is missing is a chapter on Ground Penetrating Radar. It is interesting to read, but as the subtitle says, it is a basic guide.
An informed & concise introduction..........2001-09-06
This is a great little book (128 p.) that aims to instruct neophyte archaeologists in the history and core concepts of biblical archaeology. Given the length of the book, it's obvious that nothing is covered exhaustively. But that's not the aim of the book. Currid answers "what is Biblical archaeology?", then follows with a brief history of the field outlining the different techniques and approaches over the past 2 centuries. He then discusses, in individual chapters, the importance and structure of tells (mounds = habitation), land surveying, site identification, the process of excavation, data collection methods, data interpretation, the importance of pottery in archaeology, the philosophy of pottery chronology, the importance of small finds (anything non-pottery), and finally buildings and structures. He keenly closes the book by applying and integrating the concepts discussed in the previous chapters to the archaeology currently being undertaken at Bethsaida. This final chapter is extremely interesting as he shows the importance of each element in acquiring and interpreting data. A helpful B&W map is found early in the book, on which I was able to find all but 1 or 2 of the many sites he mentions. Closeby the map page is a small table showing the breakdown of the various ages (Bronze, Iron, etc.) and their respective date ranges. Several picures are included that assist in understanding vital concepts. Archaeological terms discussed in the text are defined further in inset boxes on the same page. The book is very well done, and perfect for those interested in biblical archaeology (which everyone should be), but uneducated in the basics of the field. Highly recommended.
