Book Description
Recorded history is a finely-woven magic fabric of intricate lies about events predating the sixteenth century. There is not a single piece of evidence that can be reliably and independently traced back earlier than the eleventh century. This book details events that are substantiated by hard facts and logic, and validated by new astronomical research and statistical analysis of ancient sources.

Calculations are only as good as your numbers.......2007-08-03
Yes, we can all agree that mainstream history is nearly 100% BS due to politics, economics, ego, problems with dating techniques, and various conspiracies. Agreed. But, I've been researching the distinct possibility that human history (in terms of civilizations) are much more ancient than we've been told, so coming across this book was very interesting to me. I wondered how Fomenko could be wrong (if at all) because he is very persuasive in his presentations. Then it dawned on me. If at previous times in prehistory, due to the various catastrophies that are well documented (comets, asteroids, planetary disruptions, plasma discharge, pole reversals, etc) the Earth was in a different position in relation to the sun, different tilt on its axis, different orbit, different rotation (in terms of velocity and DIRECTION), and the continents were in different positions, then would this not cause the ancients to see the sky (constellations) differently? In other words, is Fomenko making erronious assumptions about the physics of the Earth in pre-history, which then corrupt his data with regards to dating the relevant astrology? The last event to seriously disrupt our planet occured roughly 3500 years ago, according to other good researchers, so is it possible Fomenko has been confused by this? The vastly different physics of our planet in the not so distant past may explain this confusion, which is not to say the "mainstream" version of history is correct; on the contrary. I am not an expert in these fields, but wanted to see if this idea could spark discussion.
Pants on fire?.......2007-07-19
Will people ever read before spamming? Yes, Jesuits could not rewrite world history alone, they had help. Anyway, Dr Prof Acad A.Fomenko does not point to jesuits as the driving force of world wide history manipulation in published volumes 1,2,3;, actually he barely mentions the poor devils. Check it with 'Search inside' feature, please. China is rarely mentioned either, in fact, Dr Fomenko is completely eurocentric. Right, his theory contradicts all mainstream schools of history, because in their actual state they are all built on blatantly erroneus chronology. You don't need a mysterious cabal (conspiracy) to falsify history, the falsification is its modus operandi. It is inherent to history(ians) to falsify (distort) events, as it is inherent to humans to boast as it is inherent to power (authority) to legimize itself by referrring to glorious past made to its own order. Dr Prof Fomenko and team have identified scores of instances of such manipulation in Russian, European, etc.. history, and delivered valid statistical proof thereof. His own 'reconstruction' is completely another story. Forget c14 as a valid method of dating. W.Libby has initially discovered a brilliant method of INDEPENDENT dating. Too bad, c14 method has become a joke after a forced marrige with dendrochronology with consensual chronological scale inbuilt. Radiocarbon method can't stand blind tests, but is so very productive as a rubberstamp.
Accepted History & Chronology Must Be Changed. .......2007-04-09
There is no doubt that history as most know it is a sham, & institution's version of History both University & Church is fradulent & inaccurate. Everything was established with an agenda, The real "Dark Ages" are now when we have access to incredible amounts of information past authorities & more important 'common folk' didn't have but our institutions & educators are slow to evolve because of what has ignorantly & arrogantly been taught for too long. This is on many subjects not just Chronology.
For anyone to question "Why would a Mathematician have anything credible to say of History?" The answer is from Dr. Fomenko's preface in the book: "It would be worthwhile to remind the reader that in the XVI-XVII century Chronology was considered to be a subdivision of Mathematics." These volumes could possibly be some of the most important works to date & should be read by everyone with an interest in History, especially professors & educators who have a duty to the public. I have read both books & must say that 'Chronology 1' has some very eye opening & revolutionary information. Even if these volumes are part true the implications are profound & opens the doors to further investigations & questions which must be done. I speak several different lanquages & must say the logic Dr. Fomenko uses with "inflection" of words & words being read from left to right in one region & right to left in another then written backwards, the removal of vowels & get down to basics of words, or different cities & locations having the same name etc. is correct. Vowel usage has always been optional & varied, actually complicating linquistics & study. The first thing one has to understand is that words never had a fixed spelling in history like we do now, the spelling of words was mutable & regional, as well as names & titles of people were vast, varied & changed, NOTHING WAS FIXED or understood linear. Matters of Life & Death as well as financial profiteering yesterday & today were & are made with ignorant, illogical & conspiratorial views of history & reality, it's time people get closer to the Truth & society collectively grow up.
Very Interesting.......2007-03-07
It is a good proposal and I believe it will mature into something even better in the future. I think it deserves to be read.
History as Science Fiction.......2007-01-10
Anatoly Fomenko has written a very intriguing book, full of pictures, charts, and computer 'proof' of his thesis: backwards of AD900 we don't really know what happened or when. Between AD900 and AD1600 there is more certainty, but there is still a lot of fuzzy ground, and things don't get reliable until we get past the 1600's where the printing press made it very difficult for the perpetrators of this timeline manipulation to change anything that had been committed to print. The Dark Ages did not happen. Books were burned for a reason. One organization has doubled the actual length of its existence by expanding the real chronology. Read why.
I had always wondered why Christ died about AD33 and yet men waited until the 11th century to form the Knights Templar, the Cathars, etc and go after the Holy Land by force. Why the 1000 year gap? Turns out there wasn't more than a 10-12 year gap and he proves it using astronomy. This also implies that the planet is not as old as we have been told, and current Christian and other creationist scientists are already championing that idea without being aware of Fomenko's book. The two groups, creationist scientists and the Russian mathematical analysts corroborate each other. Fascinating.
Of course, all this flies in the face of what we have been told traditionally is the 'proper' chronology of western civilization, and most readers will experience 'cognitive dissonance' in reading this book. It means that our history going backwards from AD1600 becomes progressively more incorrect and unreliable until it cannot be trusted at all... in the space of 700-800 years.
Naturally, the curious, open-minded reader will want to know WHO did this, WHY, and did any of the events we think of as really ancient ever happen?
Dr. Fomenko is a respected scientist/mathematician at Moscow State University who has already answered these questions to the satisfaction of his initially skeptical colleagues. Most of them are now believers, a few still refuse to believe (the usual diehards), and of course the western press has ignored Fomenko's work -- for obvious reasons when you read the book. The ones who perpetrated this chronology ruse have a lot to answer for. They are still with us. That's why this book is a well-kept secret.
I gave the book a 4-star rating because I was unable to check out some of his claims; those I checked were as he said. But if even 1/3 of his claims are true, this punches a big hole in what we think is our history, the meaning of western civilization, our educational process (for repeating the ruse as gospel), and the trustworthiness of the organization that perpetrated this ruse, well-intentioned or not.
This book relates to current research into a Young Earth paradigm, to John Keel's discoveries about our planet, and Fr Malachi Martin's insights (in his now out-of-print books). We are indeed sheep who are manipulated and kept ignorant -- for a reason. While knowing what these men have to say may be the "booby prize" (as in: 'what can you do with this knowledge?'), it will provide interesting reading. Didn't someone say: "...and the Truth will set you free."?? For you to judge if this book contains the truth.
Book Description
The early Christian Church was a chaos of contending beliefs. Some groups of Christians claimed that there was not one God but two or twelve or thirty. Some believed that the world had not been created by God but by a lesser, ignorant deity. Certain sects maintained that Jesus was human but not divine, while others said he was divine but not human. In Lost Christianities, Bart D. Ehrman offers a fascinating look at these early forms of Christianity and shows how they came to be suppressed, reformed, or forgotten. All of these groups insisted that they upheld the teachings of Jesus and his apostles, and they all possessed writings that bore out their claims, books reputedly produced by Jesus's own followers. Modern archaeological work has recovered a number of key texts, and as Ehrman shows, these spectacular discoveries reveal religious diversity that says much about the ways in which history gets written by the winners. Ehrman's discussion ranges from considerations of various "lost scriptures"--including forged gospels supposedly written by Simon Peter, Jesus's closest disciple, and Judas Thomas, Jesus's alleged twin brother--to the disparate beliefs of such groups as the Jewish-Christian Ebionites, the anti-Jewish Marcionites, and various "Gnostic" sects. Ehrman examines in depth the battles that raged between "proto-orthodox Christians"-- those who eventually compiled the canonical books of the New Testament and standardized Christian belief--and the groups they denounced as heretics and ultimately overcame. Scrupulously researched and lucidly written, Lost Christianities is an eye-opening account of politics, power, and the clash of ideas among Christians in the decades before one group came to see its views prevail.
Customer Reviews:
Fascinating view of strange early "Christianities".......2007-10-02
I had no idea that there were such a wide variety of beliefs in early Christianity -- the "winning" group so effectively destroyed all evidence of earlier texts. A great piece of detective work and a very well-written book.
A Revelation.......2007-09-01
This is a great book if you want to read about a war, not a war that was fought with weapons, but one that was fought with the pen. A lot was at stake with each group of Christians thinking they were right and all the other groups were wrong. Even within the confines of the New Testament one can see Paul mentioning "another Gospel" A reader of the New Testament has to wonder what this other Gospel could have been. In the New Testament we can also see that Peter and Paul were at odds with each other on whether Christians should be circumsised or not.
This book shows that there were many other disagreements amongst Christians. Some believed Jesus was a man, some believed he was a spirit. Some wanted to keep the Jewish Law, others flat out rejected the Jewish Law.
Christians even today see God in the Old Testament as wrathful and him as loving in the New Testament. This led one man named Marcion to believe that there was in fact two Gods. He had a huge following up until the 5th century.
Ehrman mentions that these "other Christians" were not small splinter groups. He provides the evidence that we not only have the scriptures that they thought were sacred, but also the Church Fathers' writings which were dedicated to countering these other Christians by calling them heretics.
In the New Testament (Acts) the Christians are portrayed as all united. This could not be any farther from the truth and this book clearly shows this.
Also contains some great photographs.
This book could do with a little less stream of thought, a little more precision.......2007-09-01
The book is a stream of thought project, somewhat. It has more form than that, but instead of going over each of the lost branches of Christianity and clearly setting them out, it mostly wanders over the same thesis again and again.
It has flashes, three pages here, two pages there, of clear, concise and direct information. If you want to understand what a gnostic was -- great, there is a sharp explanation. But if you would like a good explanation of the rest of the baker's dozen of early Christian movements that are gone? No such luck.
Sigh. Wanders too much. On the other hand, once you've read one of this author's books you've pretty much read them all, which is too bad. From the flashes of sharp writing, I'm certain he could have said a lot more and provided a lot more information. Too bad he lacked the discipline to do so.
An Excellent Choice.......2007-08-26
This is the second book by Dr. Ehrman that I have read. It is a nice sequel to my first book that I read of his "Misquoting Jesus." He goes into nice depth of what it was like in the first few centuries of Christianity. Once again, Christians need to take a look at their creeds and consider the need for further light and knowledge from God. I believe in the Bible but I don't believe in false creeds. I dare Christians to find out more about the Bible they know only by their traditions. I dare them to ask God to guide them in their search for Truth.
Shoot Out at the New Testament Corral.......2007-08-19
Because many of the previous reviewers have so thoroughly covered the material presented in Mr. Ehrman's book, we see no need to restate their information. Suffice it to say that Mr. Ehrman is, as usual, thorough to a fault and offers the most difficult material in a completely accessible manner. Some reviewers, in a seeming effort to smear Mr. Ehrman's academic veracity, have accused him of having an opinion. One would hope that he (and every other person that takes the time to write a book) does! After reading many of Mr. Ehrman's books, we have come to the conclusion that his opinion consists of thinking the world might be a more tolerant, if not peaceful, place to live if we could all let go of the thought that our ideas are unassailable truth and the ideas of "others" are not. Mr. Ehrman then presents the reader with an abundant and varied amount of information that may help them to embrace this view. Mr. Ehrman does not make the mistake of telling anyone they must change their mind or adhere to any certain way of thinking, he merely invites the reader to consider the concept that the world we live in might have been constructed along different lines if some historical events had not taken place and others had.
As writers who also have an opinion, our desire would be that everyone who reads the New Testament would also read Lost Christianities or Ehrman's Misquoting Jesus. Yes, this may leave the reader confused as to how they should proceed on their spiritual journey, but a confused and searching mind is far more likely to be open to truth than one that has been bound by doctrine. Yes, the reader may well come to the conclusion that no one "owns" Jesus, his teachings or the right to interpret them. And yes, this also means that we each have the right and responsibility to find out who Jesus is by approaching him on a one to one basis. This may be a frightening concept to those of us who have been taught that we need to be directed or we will go astray. It is freeing to those of us who feel ready for liberation. Those who fear that the wall of their beliefs will crumble if Ehrman pulls out a brick are the ones who feel the need to attack this book. Ehrman's great gift is his knack for offering information without creating doctrine or dogma. He asks questions that invite more questions, and for that we thank him. Every Young Woman's Battle.......2005-07-25
This book is very relevant and current for teens. It is direct and accurate according to the Bible It is sometimes over the top and needs to take into account the reality of living in the real world, but I like that it puts the high standard out there.
Book Description
The story of David's "mighty men" (primarily found in 2 Samuel 23) drives this challenging and encouraging book for Christian men. The mighty men weren't drafted into David's army because of their impressive resumes. They were broken men who, given an opportunity to achieve greatness, responded like champions. The author uses the story to illustrate the six battles David's men fought and men today must win to become powerful and effective warriors in God's kingdom.

Every man needs it.......2006-06-25
I believe every mens group should study this book. I know everyone who reads this book will see a bit of himself somewhere while reading it. I will be taking this with me to my next mens group and i will make sure our group studies it.
I enjoyed reading about David's Mighty Men. How great would it be if we all had our own group of Mighty Men to encourage us through the battles of life. How much better would it be if we were asked to be a Mighty Man for someone else. A great book.
The Book Everyman must Read!.......2006-06-07
I had the oppurtunity of attending a Six Battles event in April of 2005. I met Bill and spent time talking with him. What an awesome man for God! My interest was initially peaked when I read his life changing book "When good men are tempted" that helped fuel the change in my life. When I met Bill and he walked us through the "Six Battles" that this book outlines it was and continues to be life changing. I have since read the book 3 times and using this book have started a new men's small group study. I look forward to what God has in store for me and it all started with this Book! So Men , Yes this book will help you get on fire for him and help you in your daily battles.
EXCELLENT BOOK!!! BILL REALLY HITS A HOMERUN!!!.......2006-02-15
This book has been such an inspiration for me and my daily struggles of creating balance between God, my family and work. Bill really puts things in perspective and creates an easy to understand guide of what truly works. Breaking things down into 6 battles we struggle with day to day is perfect for any man. I feel that my relationship with God and my wife has grown so much stronger and deeper because of this book. Thank you Bill! I highly recommend this book to anyone!
Just what I needed, when I needed it!.......2006-02-14
I just attended a Bill Perkins seminar & read this book cover to cover afterwards; I would highly recommend both to any Christian man (even if you don't consider yourself a strong Christian). Todays world is so full of 'advice' and I've read many self help books plus attended many seminars both for professional/business and personal reasons; this little book is more important to me than I can express but fortunately everyone can read it for themselves and/or attend one of the 'Six Battles' seminars. Thank you Bill.
A decent book.... a little light on practical information.......2006-01-24
"Six Battles Every Man Must Win" by Bill Perkins is focused on the spiritual battles men must face every day. The six battles listed include:
1. Fight for your identity
2. Fight for personal holiness
3. Fight for your family
4. Fight through pain
5. Fight for your friends
6. Fight for a strong faith
Each of the battles made sense, although I couldn't really relate to the family fight as I'm not married. However I'm sure that many men could relate to it.
I was most impressed with the chapter on fighting through pain. Bill nails the internal struggle that Christian men go through when dealing with pain. Temptation always starts with a baby step, disguised to seem like nothing at all. However it always leads to a slippery slope.
I enjoy Bill's idea of "buddyship" or the need to have male friends. Bill lists a number of reasons why it is important to have male friends, but like the majority of the book, he doesn't give practical advice regarding how to develop relationships. I really would have liked to have seen more practical advice regarding what to do, not just what I should do.
Regardless, this book is a good easy read. I didn't find it life-changing but it was a good review of issues that need to be dealt with as a man. 4 out of 5 stars.

Workbook only.......2007-01-05
This is only the workbook to the Every Womans Battle book.
This workbook is does offer some strategy and insight on singlehood but is not that great of a tool.
So Wrong About Women.......2006-01-22
I've been looking for a book which actually can help women
with sexual temptation, but there are few.I read the book from
cover to cover and couldn't find any reference to women having
any real sexual desires for men.The theme was about "guarding
her emotions" and "not compromising"What??Nothing to help women
with actual sexual drive because the writer thinks women don't
really have the sexual drive but instead use sex to get what
they want.I found the book insulting to women,as though we are
all basically prostitutes looking for a hand out in life,
emotional fullfillment or love.Giving sex to get love was the
theme in a nutshell.
If writers want to help women then they have to realize women
struggle with the same sexual desire men do,and have a tough
time with temptation as well.
The catch word is "guarding your heart" They never mentioned
sexual desire and how difficult it is to controll desire for
men.
Book Description
Battles of the Bible presents a comprehensive and illuminating account of the wars of ancient Israel. The Bible's military episodes, recounted here in vivid detail, cover a vast period, from the invasion of Canaan by the Israelites under Joshua's command, through the conquest of the kingdom by David and Solomon and the split of the kingdom into Judah and Israel, to the Maccabees' successful rebellion against Seleucid domination. The reliability of these accounts is supported by their technical accuracy and the descriptions of topographical conditions peculiar to specific battlefields. They bear comparison with military campaigns well after the biblical era, and provide strategic and tactical lessons of value even today. Battles of the Bible is a fascinating and valuable work, not only for its exacting scrutiny of the biblical accounts, but also for its insight into their wider and continuing relevance. This new, thoroughly revised edition takes into account current historical and archaeological research, as well as modern trends in biblical scholarship.

Battles of the Bible.......2007-09-03
This book takes a little getting used to, both in the way it is written and in the content. The writing style is at times laborious while at other times tedious. The authors use modern examples at random throughout this book to show how Biblical battles were fought to similar results. I was not always convinced the examples cited were the best match for the argument being made in the book, but maybe that's just me.
The other thing that was tricky to deal with, was the way certain Biblical personalities were portrayed. For example, Joshua is considered one of history's first military geniouses, something that people familiar with the Bible may already know, but the emphasis here is what Joshua did himself, not what God may or may not have granted him power to do. Likewise, King Ahab is also considered a strong military leader who was astute, intelligent, and able. Bible readers recall Ahab as doing evil in the sight of the Lord and was punished. Ahab's great Biblical nemesis, Elijah, is not mentioned nor are any of the evils Ahab is said to have committed. In fact, this emphasis on human capability will take some readers by suprise. God receives very little attention in this book. For some this will be tragic, while for others they may not really care.
At times I did not like this book, but at others I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the chapters on the Maccabees were especially enlightening, while chapters on Judah's downfall dragged on for too many pages. I fully appreciate the maps intersperesed throughout the book, but some of the drawings were more comic book calibre. But all in all this is a good book that looks at the battles fought throughout the Bible in a fresh perspective.
A Worthy Account and a Good Perspective.......2007-04-17
Even though I am still reading through this book, I really have appreciated its worth. One of the things I respect about this book is its perspective. Instead of assuming that the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) and the extra-biblical accounts aren't correct the authors take the texts as they are and analyze them from a modern military view. This adds a nice way of seeing the genius in the Biblical combatants. The idea that more than military power a knowledge of the land of Israel helped in the defeat of at times armies of greater numbers. There are a number of topographical maps that shows the regions of combat mentioned in the Tanakh (Hebrew Bible) and how a good understanding of the locals helps in winning the wars or loosing the wars. It also has pictures of weapons used and also the landscape. Because this is a book written from a military view, there may be some people who will have a hard time reading it all the way through. Yet, if you are interesting in taking the Biblical accounts and understanding the wars this is a good book to read.
Well done, interesting theories on origins.......2006-10-12
Although the theories on origins of the Hebrew people as ancient mercenaries is somewhat uncertain, it is a fascinating possibility. The maps are perfect, the text is clear and the analysis is superb. It is a wonderful military history work for anyone interested in ancient warfare. Very well done.

A Labor of Love.......2006-03-29
It is common knowledge that Israelis, in general, are fanatical about their unique archeology. It is also not surprising that IDF veteran and scholar Mordechai Gachon and President Chaim Herzog would know volumes about Israel's military history. What surprised me most was their ability to take the strategies and tactics from millenia in the past and compare them with campaigns fought in the exact same regions thousands of years later and show how little has changed.
In spite of the agnostic points-of-view of the authors, this book made the Old Testament (OT) histories come alive. I consider myself well-informed concerning the OT, but I never appreciated the accuracy and insights about military strategy that can be gained from careful study of the Bible. I knew great insights were contained concerning political structure and leadership, but I never thought of the Bible as a primer on military strategy. It is.
The authors set the stage for each epoch with a thorough review of the technology of the time and the relative strengths and weaknesses of the peoples involved. They also develop the political structures of the local tribes. Then they illustrate how the Israelites, and later the peoples of Israel and Judah, used their strengths, and the weaknesses of their opponents, to achieve victories (and defeats) against armies that have them outmanned and out-armed. Then they confirm it all with recent archeological findings.
By the time I finished reading about the Maccabean era, there was no doubt that the OT contained precise details of the trials faced by the Jewish people from the time of Moses to the dawn of the Roman Era. Once again, the Bible has proven to be accurate and authoritative.
The book is written in a fairly terse style, packed with detail and no unnecessary verbage. For the serious student of the Biblical World or the Old Testament, it is a must-read. My time was very well spent.
Book Description
Newly updated and revised with the most current information about the events in the Middle East, Pastor John Hagee explains how the Israeli and Palestinian conflict will affect global politics, America's energy supply, and the world economy. The Battle for Jerusalem explores the heart of Israel's current struggle, the history behind the antagonism between Arabs and Jews, and the powerful significance of the Temple Mount, a thirty-five acre parcel that is the most fiercely contested real estate on the planet. Hagee explains how this conflict is not merely political or economic, but is also spiritual, with the repercussions of their actions continuing to echo across the world. Most importantly, Hagee illustrates how all the players in this tortuous conflict fit into God's plan for the ages.

A Work of Disturbing Imagination.......2007-06-17
In the Battle for Jerusalem, John Hagee, a founder and senior pastor of the 17,000-strong Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, TX and president of Global Evangelism Television, declares that he wants readers "to understand the age-old divisions that are still tearing the Holy Land apart" and "to be able to distinguish between truth and propaganda in the media reports" (pg. viii). A supporter of Israel, he denounces men like Yasser Arafat, who he calls "a thug so repugnant" and claims that Arabs believe that "violence pays" (pg. 3, 8). More surprisingly, he asserts that the Antichrist "is alive at this moment and knows his satanic assignment" and that "the rapture is literal, Armageddon is an actual battle, and the Antichrist is a living breathing person whom the Bible calls the chief son of Satan" (pg. 161-62). He emphasizes that the Antichrist "will come from the European Union and be a man of `fortresses' or military might" (pg. 178).
In 263 pages of pure nonsense, John Hagee expects people to believe his every word. With an annual pay of over one million dollars, he must be rather successful in spreading his propaganda. He calls Ariel Sharon a great man, even though one must recall how the Kahan Commission, established by the Israeli government, found Sharon personally responsible for the deaths of 700 to 3,500 Palestinian civilians at Sabra and Shatila in 1982. A biblical literalist, he believes that slavery, rape, kidnapping, murder, and genocide are morally justified because they are sanctioned by the Bible (see Leviticus 25:44-46, Judges 21:10-24, Deuteronomy 22:28-29, and 1 Samuel 15:2-3, for instance). He even believes that "murder, adultery, and a host of other sins" are tolerable as long as one "drew near to God" (pg. 158).
It is absurd and outrageous for Hagee to claim that the Antichrist will originate from the European Union. He fails to understand that NATO is an American-led organization and that the United States has many European allies. The powerful economic incentive of their union prevents European nations from conducting massive wars against others and is the reason why there has been peace for so long in Western Europe.
While he prefers Israel over Muslim countries, Hagee fails to realize that the Holocaust has its historic roots in Christianity. Adolf Hitler even declared that his "feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. [...] how terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. [...] As a Christian, I have also a duty to my own people." (Speeches of Adolf Hitler, Oxford University Press, 1942). Hagee seems to tolerate the sacrifice of Jews during the end of times and quotes Gershom Gorenberg, who claims that "Christians will safely exit to the wings" but "the Jews will find themselves at the center of the apocalypse" (pg. 218). Moreover, he forgets that Jews do not accept Jesus Christ and would strongly oppose his sense of Christian domination.
Hagee asserts that "we have forgotten to do our duty -- to preach the gospel and win the lost, cast out demons and heal the sick, be filled with the Spirit, pull down the strongholds of sin and Satan, demolish the strongholds of witchcraft, Satanism, and pornography" (pg. 157). With a social agenda like that, he lacks the ability for critical thinking beyond petty matters. He adumbrates on such topics because he cannot articulate coherent ideas about society's more pressing issues -- i.e. improving healthcare, and spurring economic growth. [..]
scare tactics for sale! .......2006-11-15
John Hagee pockets around 1 million dollars a year. I wonder how much he sends to Darfur to help the women being raped instead of sending it to Isreal to try and help his theory of (whoever is in with Isreal, is in with God)
If you could do one thing better than GOD, would you still believe?...............
I would like you to imagine for a moment, a mother's love. I think we can all agree, the bond between a mother and child is one of the strongest bonds known to mankind, in any time or culture. Now imagine you are the mother of two children. One boy and one girl, their ages are unimportant.
Got the image in your head? Great, now imagine one child is always a troublemaker, quite a little heathen if you will. The child never listens to anything you say, gets in trouble at school, and even sometimes says they hate you. Child number two, is a perfect little angel, always does what they are told, hugs you and kisses you often and whispers their love for you every night before they fall asleep.
Of course you may discipline the naughty child, but do you still have unconditional love for both children mommies and daddies of the world?
Of course you say?
Well let's see..........
Late one summer night you decide to go to the corner store to buy some milk after the children have fallen asleep, upon returning only ten minutes later you are horrified to see that your house is engulfed in flames. Knowing both children are inside, and could be burning alive at this very moment, you know you need to make a quick judgement.
Which child will you save??????
What ??
Both you say?
Why would you save both children?????
What?? Because you love both of them??? Why?
One child is a complete terror, and doesn't even love you!!! Why would you do such a thing???
The Christian God wouldn't!!
What you say??? God has unconditional love, even more than a mere human mother?
Really????
Well, let's take a look at the GOD of love for just a moment...
God has many children in this world yet he punishes those who do not love or "believe" in him, with fire for ALL ETERNITY does that sound like unconditional love to you???
If I, as a mere human mother, can love my children with the unconditional love that GOD cannot, does he truly love and forgive better than us "silly" humans that he supposedly created?
Or are we all just ignorant children, hoping that our "father's" approval (with strict unrealistic conditions), equals love?
You decide... Can you do something better than God?
What you say, if he didn't love us he wouldn't have sent Jesus to "save" us and forgive our sins?
We'll believing in Jesus is still a condition isn't it?
Something to think about.
Ps.
The sins of god include: murder (of the whole world except the ark), impregnating a virgin, rewarding lot after he tried to give away his virgin daughters to the town, acceptance of polygamous marriages in the old testament, etc. etc. etc. If a human were on trial for the same things we would put them away forever. Yet we excuse God by saying he knows what's best for us and he can do whatever he wants because he is GOD. Our American laws are based on the ten commandments yet we follow the laws of GOD who cannot keep his own commandments. If God was truly a perfect being he would have known in his "all time seeing vision" that we would mess up, and he wouldn't have tested eve with the apple. If God never made mistakes why did he wipe out the entire planet with a flood after the first batch of people did work out? If God didn't make mistakes why bother with the ten commandments if he knew nobody could follow them and he would have to send Jesus to get crucified on a cross to make up for it? I thought God knew everything. Frankly I've seen better administrative work during the Clinton administration, and that's saying something.
When will the (educated) wealthy countries learn to spread hope through actual tangible help to third world nations instead of "helping" them with false promises of heaven while we steal their oil, diamonds, and hope?
We have battered those weaker than us with our "religion" for far too long
Somebody stop the planet, this "saved" Catholic, Lutheran, Baptist turned Evangelical Atheist wants to get off.

Excellent.......2006-09-17
I read this book in one day, and could not put it down.
If you agree with John Hagee's theology or not, the historican facts and biblical references are right on target.
I have read many books written by authors presenting their spiritual message, in theory. John Hagee presents historican facts and religious references that you make take exception with but are undeniably accurate.
While there will always be those who take varying stands on religion (i.e., the Scopes trial!), I know the same will happen here. None the less, read from any perspective, it is a well researched book to read.
All you would need is an open mind. To read this with a preconceived Anti-Hagee sentiment would be fruitless.
As I've heard it said, if you are against an issue anything will be grounds to disagree with it.
This was an excellent book.
great book, but needed to stick to tittle.......2005-05-08
This was an excellant book. I had learned a lot about why it was happening, why it probably shouldn't, and how people are being enticed to attack isrealis. I loved how the author used biblical passages, and compared them with world events. They were great connections. I am christian, and was gald to see that the author was not biased when arguing his points. He used many references or other peoples qoutes. However, I wish he would have stuck to the tittle more, the last half of the book really talks about bible propheses, which is cool, but the book is tittled Battle for jerusalem. IT is quite frustrating when the author strays away. I would have liked to read more about the conflict at hand. Overall I give this book a 4, its very interesting, easy to follow, and the author makes very clear comparisons.
Jerusalem. The Truth Is Out There........2002-12-27
The revelations in this captivating book by John Hagee should be accessed by people of all faiths, with their impact being of such a wide ranging & immense significance that they will ultimately affect us all.
The author confirms the claims of the Hebrew prophets of the Old Testament that in the `latter days', Jerusalem will be again be at the epicentre of world events and `a cup of trembling' to the nations. John Hagee tackles this issue head on and pulls no punches as he presents a fascinating insight into current events, the Middle East `peace process', Jerusalem, the Temple Mount plus the potential conflicts facing us all involving weapons of mass destruction. All of these issues and more being examined in the light of what the Scriptures ultimately declare for the times ahead of us.
The writer stresses that his primary purpose is to convey an understanding to readers of the age-old divisions still tearing the Holy Land apart, and how these relate to the future of Jerusalem and the region as a whole.
The roots of the conflict are studied in some depth. The writer examining the `Palestinian issue', the history of the `Palestinian' people, Yasser Arafat, the whole Arab-Israeli conflict and the realms/consequences of International involvement. The issue of the coming Third Temple in Jerusalem is also tackled in the light of the prophesied Anti-christ. Not least of the subjects addressed is that of the Jewish people and the Land of Israel.
Many readers will be aware that during the Nazi Holocaust, musicians were forced to play calming music at the entrance to the death camp of Auschwitz to mask the horror awaiting the Jews as they passed through that infamous gate en route to annihilation.
From this study we can see an alarming parallel to our modern times which the writer illustrates so well. Today's orchestra, comprising of the likes of Bush, Blair, Chirac, Annan, Arafat, & co., all dutifully supported in harmony by the media. Each shown to purvey a modern symphony pacifying & reassuring the Jewish people who are currently being coerced along the new deceptive route to genocide paved with counterfeit pledges of 'peace'.
To elaborate we see from this work how the Israelis are being betrayed into believing the `lie' that by surrendering their eternal Biblical homeland to the Arabs who have taken the name `Palestinian', then the Jewish people will receive recognition, a cessation of terrorism and ultimately `peace'. The writer ably demonstrating with accurate references to Scripture that no such peace under these terms can ever be achieved.
One will discover through this study that the same Bible that promised the Holy Land as an eternal, Divine inheritance to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac & Jacob (Israel) also proclaimed the consequences of `dividing up' God's Land. ("I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will enter into judgement against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land." - Joel 3;v2).
The outcome of International interference, pressure and any Israeli capitulation clearly not being peace but war, destruction and judgement upon the nations responsible who rebelled against the Written Word and Purpose so clearly defined. One needs to read and re-read the sections of this book devoted to these particular issues.
Since the horrific terrorist atrocities of September 11 2001, John Hagee has in fact released an `updated' version of this book entitled "Attack On America. New York, Jerusalem & The Role Of Terrorism In The Last Days." To those readers who find obtaining a copy of " Battle For Jerusalem", then perhaps the aforementioned update would be suitable as it does contain the backbone of what is included in the earlier work.
Having heard John Hagee speak and having studied the Middle East for many years, I can confirm that the writer has a commendable grasp of the region's history which he ably demonstrates here. His accurate revelations from a Christian perspective make for an awesome read. Recommended.
